I was wondering if any of you have seen this show. http://www.vh1.com/shows/the_ocd_project/episodes.jhtml I happened to catch part of the pilot episode as my wife and I were going around the dial and we both got hooked immediately. After the first 10 minutes I set my DVR to tape the series and have been watching it ever since. It is absolutely fascinating to watch what these people are going through. Dr. Tolin's therapy is pretty extreme sometimes. One lady had to eat tea scones out of the toilet.
I caught the first episode and it looked pretty promising. The look on the chick's face (the compulsive washer) when she was informed she would be sharing the bathroom with the rest of the residents was priceless. Considering she spends 3+ hours in there in the morning "getting ready," I'm sure they're none too pleased as well. And his therapeutic methods really are par for the course when you're dealing with such extreme cases of OCD. It's a mental disorder that isn't very well understood by the general public, and it can be very debilitating.
I caught the second episode late 2 nights ago. It's a good watch in just how simultaneously sad and interesting it is. The compulsive washer broke down crying like her dog just died all because someone took her laundry out of the dryer and left it in a basket on top of the machine. To get that worked up over something must be incredibly debilitating. Also, 2 people thought their words could kill people. I had never really heard of that before, but my friend's mum (doctor at a psych hospital) said it's pretty common. I found that extremely bizarre.
