Yeah I know, V Day was yesterday, but Monday is Presidents' Day and this is the better holiday.

For you delightful old fucks, here was a picture labeled "granny cougar porn."

Who has a hot date night planned with the missus? Or will you instead be watching romcoms and eating discount chocolates tomorrow night.

Focus: Valentines Day stories. The good, the bad, and the ugly.

Valentine's day at the Bandit household did not go as expected.
Jungle Julia came home in a bad mood because of various events in her day, and was acting pretty bitchy about minor things (apparently I was cutting vegetables on the wrong section of the counter, I was using the wrong burner on the stove, etc.).
She apologized later, but I still had to listen to that.

She says that she's got a surprise tonight, though. I'll let y'all know about it tomorrow.

Prices on flowers go sky high around vday and with kids in the house we already have a ton of candy and stuff. So I got some strawberries, large marshmallows, and then my eldest son, wife and I dipped them in melted chocolate. Grilled burgers, watched some tv and went to bed early.

I don't care how old you are, chocolate covered marshmallows are the shit.

That is why I'm single. I went through something similar last week with a female friend, I just can't put up with that shit.

On a similar note...I just went to go outside for a cigarette and was met by Crazy...."Do you know what time it is?"...*Look at the clock*...."It's 8;14" and he proceeded to get all pissy about me being up at this ungodly hour and going out to smoke. Yeah, no....I don't care how much money I'm saving living here, I'm not going to put up with that shit either. He can rent the place to someone else. Good luck finding someone else who'll put up with all this bullshit, cleans up after themselves, doesn't steal, and is never late with the rent for damn near 5 years. I've seen the pool of renters he's paraded through here the past 5 years and it hasn't been pretty.

Fuck him. It's time for me to move.

Man, what a shitty last week. Had a fun but short trip to Japan, got held up for hours in the Toronto airport due to freezing rain, cancelled connections, and closed highways, and got me some killer food poisoning. A day later I was feeling better, figured it was all good... and then I got the flu. Holy shit did that fuck me up for the last week... haven't been that sick in years, almost decades. Finally woke up this morning feeling somewhat normal, but for the last week I've been sleeping at least 12 hours a day and hacking up insane amounts of disgusting fluids/solids.

    Happy V-Day everyone!

On the plus side, I think I killed part of my liver by OD-ing on some Benalyn... I got so fucking high I couldn't walk up stairs the following morning. That shit let me sleep like the dead, for a while, anyway.

Finally get to enjoy the weekend, and it's a long one at that.

Looking forward to putzing around in the shop for a bit.

I'm a patient man. I really am. I can put up with all sorts of bullshit if it suits my needs to do so.

Last night I was pissed off. Now I'm fucking livid. Crazy asked me point blank "Where do you get your money?" I answered him "It's none of your fucking business. I rent a room from you. Have I ever been late with my rent in almost 5 years? Have I ever made a mess?" The stupid SOB is used to people that live from check to check instead of someone that is living way below their means simply to better their lot in life. Fuck that pissed me off.

Then, like fucking clock work, Crazy #2 started a fight with the next door neighbors yelling at them over the back fence. That went on for a good ten minutes.

It's time to leave this cluster fuck in the rear view mirror.

In other news, I'm watching a blu ray of Deep Purple live in Verona (With a full orchestra.) I'm not a huge Deep Purple fan, but I really like their stuff from Perfect Strangers...that stuff should sound awesome with an orchestra behind them.

Aren’t there vipers down there? Throw one in his room at night. If it doesn’t kill him, blame the neighbours and maybe they’ll shoot him in self defence when he takes a run and them.

Misanthropic thinks he’s doing a nice thing by taking the kids skiing. Less than 15 minutes after hitting the slopes, one of the kids is injured . Not his own, of course. Uncomfortable phone conversations follow.

Just scorpions here in Vegas, and in 14 years I have yet to see one (knock on wood).

Random question, I haven't even gotten any of these in the mail lately, but: Has anyone ever gone to a nice dinner that comes with a sales presentation attached, and given them false info? Fake name, rejection line phone number, let's talk tomorrow, etc.? I've been thinking about that the next time I see an invite to a dinner at MRKT steakhouse for a timeshare or investment pitch... I also wonder if they're prepared for this bullshit.

One off my official bucket list yesterday: finally got to skate the Rideau Canal, with my daughter to boot. I would hit this thing up every single day end-to-end if I lived here n this shitty city, what a goddamn rush. It’s too bad once you get to Ottawa, it’s as glitzy of a capitol City to our country as Washington DC is to
    majority of our board members.

In the other hand Ottawa’s market district is cool and awesome to check out if you’re in town. Great seafood and LOTS of pubs in the summer to hit up. This weekend was the end of Winterlude and they had the most virtuoso ice and snow sculptures I’ve ever seen on display everywhere down there.

My regional bank, mostly local, that I have been with for many years, business and personal checking, was acquired by a larger regional bank. Today was the day everything transferred over to the new name, new online banking, etc. I just went on to the new website to do a bill pay and funds transfer. I had to create a log in, new password, answer security questions, etc. to begin. When I access the home "accounts" page, I should see my two accounts.

Nope. There are four there. A money market account with over $30k in it and a checking account with over $20k in it - which are NOT my accounts. My business is first, then these two, then my personal. I feel like I should just go ahead and transfer all of that money to my personal account. Thoughts?

Also, I am kidding, of course. And, hope it's not the other way. Because if somebody else currently has access to my accounts? No bueno. I called my local branch - can't get through. I called the 800 number on the banking website, transfers and then goes to fast busy. Finally talked to a human at one local branch and she is currently "looking into it."

Yeah... my guess is that this issue is system-wide, not just with you... and there's fuck all that anyone at a branch can do about it other than answer the phone and say "we're looking into it".

Personally, I'd be digging out my last known most recent account logs so that I could verify that everything is as it was supposed to be.

I would not be surprised to find out that all transfer capabilities were locked as soon as the problem was initially discovered.

Usually that stuff is "event driven", meaning that when you request a transfer/payment/etc, it submits the request into a queue for processing. Normally that processing is damn fast so comes back as being completed pretty fast. I'm betting that they just killed the processing on the queue so if you DID want to try the transfer thing, it would submit the request, but it would not be processed. Once they figure out their fuckups, they'll probably go through and wipe out the queues of transfer/payment requests.

Not fun for the bank's tech team, to say the least.

Last time I saw something like that happen, it was with the Royal Bank and they were down for 5 days while they tried to unfuck their system.

During that time a shitload of people had no access to interac/debit/credit cards, so learned the hard way that they don't have enough cash on hand to live for more than a day at best.

So you may want to see if you can get whatever cash you can on hand just in case this takes a few days to unfuck.

I definitely have a log, statement, deposit slips and a screenshot. You'd think it'd be looked into and locked down by now - but, nope, I could totally transfer $50k of someone else's money to my account, right now. And, apparently, it's NOT a system wide thing. I talked back to my local person and it's an isolated issued. I suspect they have to self-report when they discover a goof like this. I don't know. But, yeah, this is not my primary bank account that I use for day-to-day and personal bill paying. That's at a different bank, along with my regular savings account. So, I'd be okay for a little while. Fucked up.

Keep escalating. Give it a few business days and then contact the CFPB if you don’t get a straight-forward, satisfactory response and file a complaint. This shit gets taken very seriously.

Edit: Also file a complaint with the FDIC.

Anyone you talk to will have zero clue about that, and will be given messaging from those that do know that will be designed to keep everyone calm and unworried.

I'm betting that there are issues system-wide that are similar to your case, which were missed in the pre-migration testing, so while it may not be 100% of account transitions, it is probably way more than just you.
