Can't use the YouTube because I'm at work, (blocked) but look up Clint Mansell's "Death is the road to Awe" from the move The Fountain. The soundtrack to that movie is what made the movie. I would have loved it anyway, but the music is just magnificent.
It's majestic, mournful, and triumphant at all the right moments. If you could listen to the entire soundtrack, in order, without any visuals or voices, you'd still complete the same emotional journey that the complete film takes you on. I adore this soundtrack.

The soundtrack to "Bella loves Jenna". Specifically the tune played during Jenna's solo scene near the end of the film! The tone of that scene is set perfectly by the eerie yet melodic track! I do not know who composed the score to that picture but in my opinion they deserve a grammy!

Alwasy have had a soft spot for this one. I love this movie to death.

Tarintino is a master at music selection. The only soundtracks I'd actually go out and buy.Words couldin't describe the sheer awesomeness I felt the first time I saw the Lucy Lu fight with this music playing.

I think what compliments it so well is the bloodtheme that plays over the end credits, at least on DVDs and on-demand:

Where the opening credits do such a great job of mixing the bloody elements of the show w/ Dexter's efforts to appear a typical, nonthreatening member of society, the end credits are perfect because of the way they make you realize the severity of the fucked up shit you just watched go down.

My favorite movie score of all time is from The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford by Nick Cave & Warren Ellis. Every song fits each scene that it is in perfectly and captures the emotions. Listening to just the soundtrack you can picture the scenes in your head but it also serves as a great accompaniment if you need to think or write something deep. Should have won the Oscar for best score.

How could I forget this one from Knockaround Guys.

Since seeing this movie there is a part of me who hopes that Steve Forbert will start playing just as I get into a fight, but it hasn't happened yet.

Not exactly a score, or soundtrack, but one of my favourite audio components of any movie, ever, is the fly-fishing sequence in The River Runs Through It.

Saw it in the theatre, and the way that you hear the line being whipped around you was phenomenal.

I wish I could find the clip, because it's awesome.

I've fly fished for many, many years, and the movie really resonates with me.

For the record, Pirates of the Carribean was Klaus Badelt. Zimmer only did the sequels.

I've always loved this song, and I thought it captured the feeling of Tolkeins world beautifully.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith had some great music!

Waking Ned Devine was a wonderful film that had a soundtrack/score that added significantly to the movie. I still dig that album out every year when the leaves start to change, it's a good drinking album for the fall.

I didn't see anyone else mention it yet, but I caught the movie Hook the other day when I was watching my nephew. First off, I forgot how good that movie was, and second off How damn good the sound track to the movie is. John Williams absolutely kills it. Here is the theme song, but I used to have the CD Sound track for the movie and it is just incredible.

I could be intellectual about this, but I'd rather be honest.

The entire soundtrack is one of Disney's best, in my opinion, and Elton John's Circle of Life is a fantastic song.

    Simple, uplifting, adorable.

I didn't read through everything, so my apologies if it's already been mentioned, but I thought the score in The Shawshank Redemption was amazing. Remember the sequence that shows Andy Durfresne crawling through the sewage pipe then escaping? Right at the climax, when he burst out of the pipe and into the stream, the music is really powerful. It evokes a sense both of wonder and triumph.

    Check it out.
