Gin was one of the first liquors I tried. Drank it with orange juice, terrible. Fruit punch, even worse. Sprite, still terrible. I was convinced it was the devil's bile.

About a year and a half ago, I finally drank it with tonic while on a cruise ship. I remember the first, sweet taste on my lips, then I don't remember the rest of the night. Apparently, after close to a dozen of them (checked my bill the next morning), I started dancing on a slightly heavy female while attempting to finger her through her jeans before I was escorted back to my room. There may or may not have been video also.

I love gin and tonics now. I love them so much my fiance considers it dangerous for me to have a bottle in the house. They make me like the horny hulk.

Oh god this makes me sick thinking about it:

Whatever we could steal from the parents -> Thunderbird and blue Fruitopia (I thought this shit was delicious back in the day, but I'm literally gagging as I'm typing this now -> Skyy Blue/Smirnoff Ice/ assorted girly shit ->hard liquor in way too many shots-> whiskey and coke -> Bud Light -> decent beer -> good wine, good beer, the occasional vodka tonic

    Vodka->Whiskey->Budlight->Micro Brews->Johnnie Walker

It took me a while to get back to being able to drink whiskey and scotch again, but God it feels good to be back.

Purchased a box of Hot & Spicy Cheese-Its at the store today. I forgot how good these were.

Also forgot how good amaretto + butterscotch schnapps was.

Unfortunately, the two do not go well together.

I have decided to utilize Coors Light to cleanse my palate between the delicacies.

Well it used to be whatever was on sale.
I'm really not too picky about beer and whiskey, but I have my favorites.
Now, it's whatever else is on sale.

I don't drink too much anymore, it's crazy expensive to go out where I live. If I go out with my wife to a club it'll cost $200.
Minimum, that's not going crazy with shots. It's about twelve or so beers, four/five shots.
I do my drinking at home nowadays.

Oh, and my vodka choices went from Well drinks to Stoli, to Grey Goose, to Skyy, back to Grey Goose, to Ketel One (thanks to Philalawyer), and that's where I'm at now.

High School: Bacardi Breezers in Gatorade bottles. Jack Daniels once or twice.
College: Hypnotic, Hennessy, Alize, Malibu, Gray Goose, Everclear.
Working World Job 1: Stella Artois, Spaten
Working World after breaking up with my Fiance: Kamikazes. Jager bombs. Everclear. Assorted good beer (Bell's Double Cream Stout, Magic Hat #9, Chimay). Assorted cheap beer (Miller Lite. Bud Light. Coors Light.)
Working World Job 2: Whiskey. Bourbon. Maker's Mark. Couvosier.
Grad School: PBR, Rolling Rock, Coors Lite, Miller Lite (DC prices are ridiculous for this swill.) Whiskey. Whiskey Sour. Gin. Gin & Tonic. Vodka. Vodka & Tonic.

I was a jackass when I first started drinking. I wasted too much money on bullshit alcohol. It was the first time I had a surplus of cash to blow on liquor.

I've departed from these from time to time but I tend to stick to my favourites.

16-18: Woodstock/UDL or any cheap alcopop drinks I could get my hands on. Usually the 6 pack of Woodstock would suit me fine. I tried some a couple of years ago and it tasted horrible. Can't believe I spent a solid 2 years on it.

18-20: Bourbon (Jim Beam) and Vodka (Smirdoff). These couple of years also involved quite a heavy shot phase, with preferences being anything from Tequila to Jager.

21-Now: Normally start with beers (Carlton Draught) and then finish with Vodka or Bourbon, unless I'm with my main drinking buddy who only really drinks one of these two, so we'll smash down a bottle of either each. However I am quite partial to some Scotch (Chivas Regal) these days too.

    Here's my drinking evolution:

I walk into a bar, and I always order the same thing:

Me: "A shot and a beer."
Bartender: "What kind of shot? What kind of beer?"
    Me: "You pick."

Now, you would think that bartenders would try to screw you, but I found the exact opposite to be true. I have found so many things that I like, but things I wouldn't order (like Wild Turkey, holy shit, I love Wild Turkey!). So my drinking evolves every time I go out.

Last night was Powers and Blue Moon, and it was delicious. Tonight will be totally different.

whatever I could get my hands on, then -> Smirnoff -> Jim Beam -> cheap beer -> craft/micro brews and Jim Beam Small Batch are my current rotation and I don't see that changing for a while.

This might be a bit wordy, but I've been drinking longer than most posters have been alive.

When I was underage, I stole my Dad's shit home-made wine. Half the time it was vinegar, but I didn't know any better and drank it. It got me drunk, and to this day I can't drink white wine.

I worked at Labatt's as a kid in high school, back in the days when they gave a voucher for a 24 to employees every 2 weeks. It turned out that the grouchy old dock worker redeeming the vouchers didn't give a shit about anything like how old I was. At the age of 16 I had amassed 10 24's (yes, we call them "two-fours") under my bed. Stubbies, no less. I got way too drunk on beer, and ever since have not been a huge fan of beer. (In the words of an Apple sound effect, So Sue Me).

I've since found that I tend to like somewhat lighter, non-beer tasting beer like Corona or (now) Stella. Even then, they're either thirst-quenchers on a hot summer day, or more typically a chaser for a highball or shot.

Then, at about 18, I found rye. Crown Royal. Crown and ginger sometimes, but mostly, just CR on the rocks. Still my go-to drink to this day... walk in, order a double on the rocks, with a beer chaser.

About 15 years ago, I acquired a taste for red wine, and really started to enjoy really good red wine. I've now gotten to the point where I can no longer drink shit wine. Most "house" wines I find fall into that category. Yes, I've become a wine snob, and I'm OK with that.

Other than that, I've always enjoyed drinking whatever the fuck I want, when the mood strikes.

And tequila. Oh, FUCK tequila. I got so drunk on tequila one epic night, that to this day, if I smell it, I throw up. (Let's just say that the short version is that a buddy of mine and I were drinking short highballs and tequila shots while watching Sunday football, and got cut off at a local logging town bar, drove and took a ferry to the Big City, continued to drink, got cut off again, made it into the third place, The Roxy in Vancouver, and the last thing I remembered was racing to drink 3 triple shots of tequila and throwing up on the main bar and bartenders.) If you want to hear the long version, that'll take a few shots some night. The funny part is that I later played in the house band there, and they shit themselves laughing when they found out it was me... guess it was a night to remember for them too.

Otherwise, I've gone through various phases, including milk drinks (white russians, mudslides, bailey's rocks, etc), fruity drinks (zombies, greyhounds, screwdrivers), pretentious drinks (chocolate martinis, appletinis), Gin, and various blender drinks.

I still love blender drinks, and have no problem ordering a pina colada whenever I'm in the mood.

Lately, I've been introduced to some phenomenal vodka thanks to a Ukranian co-worker, and we now generally kick off Friday nights with a few vodka shots at work. Like last night.

The "usual" is now some combination of a bottle (or more) of nice red wine, vodka shots, Crown on the rocks with a Stella chaser, or bourbon (usually Woodford Reserve) usually on the rocks, but occasionally with coke (press). And Harvey Wallbangers. Yeah, you've never heard of them, I know. But they are great.

I no longer do fucked up shots, like jager, or any of that shitty sweet/sticky crap. I've long ago stopped giving a shit about whether or not people think I'm a pussy for not drinking vile shit.

Germany: screwdrivers, tequila shots, vodka redbull, Hefeweizen. Age 18 was without a doubt the high point in my drinking career. Having 2k in disposable income every month without a last call spelled disaster for my liver. I was a tequila shot god.

post-Iraq Germany tequila(with horrible results), well liquor of all varieties. Being deployed totally fucked up my tolerance, unfortunately I refused to accept this fact. Tequila makes me cry, don't ask me why it just does.

Texas Bud light, Coors Light, vodka redbull. Texas was a dark time in my drinking career, I teetered on the edge of becoming a douchebag. Fuck light beer.

post-Afghanistan and college Makers, Crown and sprite, Captain and pineapple, microbrews I'm very happy with what I'm drinking now, I don't mind paying the extra cash for good booze and beer. I only do shots every now and then. I love living in the Northwest.

I was a relatively late-bloomer in regards to alcohol -- my love affair with this lovely boozular intoxicant didn't start until my last hear of High School.

At that age, I drank whatever the fuck I could get my hands on. This usually meant grain alcohol, or "Vodka" brand vodka, purchased by the jug. Soon after, laterally moved to malt liquor or otherwise shitty beer. (See: Steel Reserve or MGD)

Soon graduated(if you can call it that) to mixed vodka drinks, then on to rum and cokes. Then spent about 3 years drinking jager by the bottle - owning a jagerator made this much more palatable than it sounds.

Over the last few years post-college, I've moved to mostly drinking dark beer or scotch. Lagavulin or Balvenie if I can get my hands on it, Jameson when I'm broke. That being said, I still haven't outgrown the 30-rack bud light drunk, bacardi/coke drunk, or the cuervo shots drunk. I'm an equal opportunity alcoholic.
