Last night I drank half a bottle of Buffalo Trace Bourbon while watching the Celtics play. During my 5 hour road trip to go visit a customer this morning I lamented how I never felt this shitty when I was drinking vodka cranberry back in the day. I bet my kidneys were a lot cleaner back then too. Below is my drinking evolution. I only listed things that I drank often if not exclusively for at least a 6 month period. No one gives a fuck about that crazy week in Cancun where you drank nothing but tequila. Be honest if you tipped the Zima senior year of high school too. Vodka cranberry - Bud Light bottles - Guinness - Micro brews - Rum & soda - Dark rum straight - Whiskey straight What's your drinking evolution?
Cheap vodka shots (to this day I still despise vodka) V V MGD V V High Life V V Jager (all the time.... check to the most awful hangovers I've ever had) V V Captain V V Blue Moon or any wheats for that matter V V Tequila Me thinks more evolving will come. My counterparts are quickly becoming wine "connoisseurs" but I just never really got into wine in general. Feel like I’m coloring Easter eggs…
Tequilla-Labatt Copper- Labatt Blue- Miller Gen. Draft- Moosehead & Rye- Corona & Rye- Corona & Jack Daniels & Rye
Natty Lite--->McCormick's Vodka & Kool-Aid--->ZIMA--->Bacardi bitch beers in every flavor except raspberry--->Jager--->Everclear & pink lemonade--->Molson--->jack & coke--->wine The last four are my favorites, I just happen to drink waaaay more wine than I do the other three. But after typing 'Everclear' and 'pink lemonade' I think tonight might be different. That just looks delicious to me right now.
Bud light --> Vodka --> Everclear --> Moonshine --> --> Scotch rocks --> Jager --> Makers and coke All thoughout this little evolution has been my ever present beloved whiskey neat. God I love whiskey
Mad Dog 20/20, Boones Farm, and Old English --> Corona Light with lime --> flavored vodka + mixer --> Budweiser --> rum --> whiskey (very briefly) --> Bud select --> vodka soda --> Coors light --> Sam Adams --> vodka/whiskey on the rocks, Shiner Bock, Miller High Life (depending on how cheap I'm feeling) I've tried, and at periods of time been obsessed with, about everything. I went on a trip to Europe with my parents around the vodka soda period and was formally educated in expensive merlots and stinky cheeses. To this day, I will choose an oaky merlot over absolutely anything (shy of a Shiner on a hot day), but liquor gets you drunk quicker.
High School - Bud Light and Budweiser Freshman Year College - Captain Morgan and Absolut, always shots only Sophomore Year College - Exclusively Kamchatka (vodka) $12 half-gallons Junior Year College - 30 packs of Natty Light Senior Year College - Old Crow whiskey First Year Post College - Blue Moon, Oberon bottles Now - Jameson (straight) or Crown (with Sprite) Still refuse to touch/smell/be in the same room as a bottle of Captain, and think it is the worst alcohol ever invented. Didn't even have a particular experience, I guess it was just a combination of experiences.
High School: The Beast/Bud Ice/Zima/Whatever was in the fridge at the party... College: Jack/Capt. Morgan mixed with whatever was in the fridge at the party... Now: Bud Light/Coors Light/Miller Light or vodka shots.
Captain is pure evil. Especially in combination with weed. About four years ago I smoked a few bowls and washed them down with captain straight. The next morning I woke up in my bed, and my truck was lodged across a wet-weather creek on the ranch. Haven't touched it since. Oh, and unless anyone thinks they can beat me, I am claiming the title of Nastiest Drink Drank with Regularity. From high school: Equal parts fruit punch MD 20/20 and cherry coke, with peach schnapps floated. Haven't touched peach schnapps since either.
Gin -> puke -> forsake gin forever -> Lucky Lager -> Canadian Club and coke -> Wiser's and coke -> James Ready 5.5 -> Sleeman's -> Red wine -> Every variety of craft beer -> Single malt I drink like a 50 year old man now, apparently.
Busch Light -> Cheap vodka and tequila (college days) -> Whiskeys and Busch Light. I haven't changed all that much
High school sophomore - Busch Light Junior - Busch Heavy Senior - Budweiser college freshman - Budweiser, some vodka we got for $10 a handle sophomore/junior - killians, Jagermeister senior - Guniess, Jagermeister There were a few other changes in there. Now I drink top shelf bourbon on the rocks, and micro brews that are 7%+. I will never touch anything from a macrobrewery again. When I was younger with every pay raise I made my beer of choice a tiny bit better.
I'll introduce the main characters in order of appearance. But it's like a soap opera, in which you can never tell which one is gonna make a return for a few episodes. Miller Lite - Rum & Coke - Milwaukee's Best Light - Vodka Lemonade - Vodka & Snapple - Coors Light - Spotted Cow (awesome microbrew) - Guinness - Vodka Sunkist - Long Island Iced Tea - Captain & Coke - Amaretto - Bud Light - High Life Light - Caribou Lou
Mine went something like this: Spiced Rum & coke, peppermint schnapps (my first drunk) -> Smirnoff Ice -> Vodka -> Bud Light -> Jager -> kamikaze shots -> Coors Light -> Dos Equis Amber/Tecate (was waiting tables at a mexican place) -> Coors Light -> Shiner -> tequila -> Guinness -> Glenlivet on ice Coors Light has really been a mainstay amongst everything else since its first appearance. At this point I'm most Coors, Shiner and Guinness for beers, Tequila for shots, and a nice Glenlivet when I want something classy.
Mikes Hard > Coors Light > Rasberry Vodka and 7up > Rasberry Vodka, 7up, cough syrup > Vodka Gingerale > Gin and Fresca > Guiness > Screech and Diet Coke > Soberness
High School: Beast Light/Coors Light (whenever I could steal it from my dad), Old Charter (only when my buddy bought it, though. I didn't drink much whiskey then at all, honestly) Early College: Beast Light/Keystone Light, Whiskey Whiskey (the kind they sell at Albertsons that just said "Whiskey" on the label and nothing else) Late College: Coors Light, Shiner Bock, Killian's Irish Red, cheap red wine, Eeeeee-vhan Williams, Old Charter Now: Coors Light, Abita Amber, higher-end dark beers, less-cheap red wine (and more of it), Eeeeee-vahn Williams (unless I have the extra money to spend on Old Charter- the stuff went up more than $10 a handle since college), good bourbon, Sailor Jerry, Tito's Vodka, Fris Vodka, and milkshakes (white russians) Man, that's kinda depressing when you look at all of that written down like that...
Cheapest vodka/Fresca - Coolers - Canadian/Pilsner - Rum & Coke - Heineken I alternate between the last two now. And shots. Preferably Gladiators or Patrón. And I still sometimes drink Pilsner as an homage to my home province. EDIT: To clarify I am referring to Molson Old Style Pilsner.
While I never drank mouthwash or anything like that, if it had an alcohol content I didn't discriminate. Evolution? I was alcohol for about 5 years.
