http://www.ign.com/videos/2010/09/22/donkey-kong-country-returns-rambi-trailer I can sincerely say that this looks just as good as the older game. I haven't played in years and I'm pretty sure I lost it at some point, so I'm kind of excited. Focus: What old-school video games do you think should get a re-boot? Could they really live up to your expectations?
This is a new twist on a thread we've done before. A lot of old school video games have been rebooted - everything from Pac-Man to Frogger.
Final Fantasy VII: I don't want any of the game-play or story changed, but if you give me FFXIII graphics and apply them to FFVII I would be a very happy man. Vandal Hearts: Same as above, just make it even more senselessly violent.
Donkey Kong Country was one of the first Virtual Console games that I downloaded when I bought my Wii. Donkey Kong Country Returns has already been pre-ordered. As far as games that I'd like to see updated versions of... Most of them have already been done, but I'd love to see a new Nightshade game. This Nightshade game: I'd also get a pretty big kick out of a new River City Ransom. One that's better than the Game Boy Advance version that Atlus released.
They've been promising this for while now, I'm going to keep my load pinched until I hear an official release date.
Not necessarily a remake, but I would LOVE to see a sequel to the Chrono Trigger series. As for remakes, I can't believe no one has thought to remake Contra as a FPS in the vein of Gears of War or Halo. Seems like it could be a natural progression. Finally, Crystalis, IMHO, was always an underrated action-RPG that might do good with a remake, too.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrono_Cross Chrono Cross is your answer. Released in 1999 to the PS2. The gameplay was fun and engaging. The storyline was confusing as hell and there were 124830759595845 characters.
It would be great to see a reboot of Road Rash. Give me a club and a sport bike on the Pacific Coast Highway...oh yeah!
Oh, I know about Chrono Cross. Played it. Beat it. Twice. I want a new sequel, something not Chrono Cross. I only played Chrono Cross twice because the story was so confusing, and I still didn't get the whole thing after two play-throughs.
Double Dragon. The greatest of them all. I second Road Rash. It could be a blast if made by the right people. General Chaos, but have Rockstar Games refashion it and it would be a hoot.
It is getting remade, but only for the Wii (and with Daniel Craig instead of Pierce Brosnan): Focus: "Ocarina of Time" + "Twilight Princess" style graphics = AWESOME. Do it, Nintendo.
Earthbound! I know it was a sequel to Mother in Japan and that they made a Mother 3, all of which I played; in Japanese. I just want Nintendo to give us some love and release them in the States in English. Plus all the planned sequels.
GoldenEye and Super Smash Bros are definitely games I wanted to see redone. The problem is, although it has happened, it was Wii versions of the game. Wii sucks, and wouldn't go close to an Xbox 360 or PS3 version of the game. I will say that I do thoroughly enjoy Wii's version of MarioKart though, but I think I'm in the minority there.
Streets of MOTHAFUCKIN RAGE!!!! The music in that game was God damn amazing! And Blaze was so fucking hot!
Not sure if this game was considered mainstream back in the day, but spent countless great hours with this one. Auto-Field ALWAYS off:
