Reds give Brandon Phillips $72.5 over 6 years.

I've always thought he would have helped the team better by moving back across second and being a great shortstop instead of an elite second baseman, but now it looks like Zack Cozart is going to work out. If they can put a good, young, right-handed bat at third* or left they might be pretty good for a long time.

    *Rolen won't last much longer

Exactly. The Marlins are a team that has always had trouble drawing fans in the best of times. Blatantly offending a large segment of your city's population, a segment quite interested in baseball no less, isn't a good way to get those turnstiles moving...

I'm amazed he could extend anything, , with all that arthritis. I took an Aleve after hearing about this win.

Well, that perfect game was (or will be) officially the lone highlight of the White Sox 2012 campaign. And of course I missed it. Fuck.

I actually watched this game against my will. The last pitch was very questionable, but after Gallaraga (sp?) they are always going to give it to them now.

These Tampa Bay fans are fucking retarded. They keep booing balls even when they're obviously way outside. They're also not clapping when Shields gets two strikes on batters.

I enjoyed the 15 unanswered Yankees runs.

My friend said "You guys are really killing us today, 9 to nothing going into the sixth."

I said "The sixth? Don't worry, the Sox still have a bullpen you can kill."

There is no Boston pitcher, starting or relieving, that gives me confidence.

So Pineda is done for the season, and possibly will never be the same pitcher ever again.

My only consolation is that Campos looks pretty good, and Montero isn't exactly raking.

After watching Darvish on TV, then actually watching him live last night...that guy is incredible. His movement is efficient..but goddamn he's tall.

After the game ended, Yankees fans in the stands started fighting. Why? who knows.

That has been how he starts every time he moves up a level. He started out slow at AA and when he first went to AAA he hit about .240 with no power until the second half of the season when he adjusted.

Hated the trade when they made it and fucking despise it now.

The pressure on Kuroda just shot through the roof. Should be interesting to see how he responds.

At this point, Pettite can't get back soon ehough.

As a Mariners fan, I feel terrible about Pineda. I was pissed when that trade got made, but I could at least understand the reasoning. I hope for his sake he can turn his slider into something Randy Johnson-esque.

At least you get to see the M's rape the Tigers 2 days after getting no-hit.

I find its easier to blame any completely random sports injury/death on you playing Tecmo Bowl.

It's starting to look like no-contact ACL tears are this year's version of the cluster of torn labrums from a few years back

Maaaan, that's 5 major injuries for the Yankees this year. In order of importance:

    Pineda, Swisher, Gardner, Rivera, Joba.

Are you sure those are in order? It should be Gardner, Swisher, Joba, Pineda and then Rivera.

    Dear Texas Rangers -
    Start playing baseball.
    That is all.
