Can't believe there isn't already a thread about this show... unless I missed it? Ran into it years ago and loved it from the first episode. Absolutely resonates with me, and just about every other Canadian I know who's watched it. Season 7 just dropped today... I know what I'm doing tonight. Pitter patter...
I don’t think Americans would like this show in the same way the would Trailer Park Boys, it is VERY local-oriented (its based on Listowel). . I love it, particularly Wayne’s ethics towards fist fights and the unreal eye candy that is Katy and Bonnie.
Down here we have to wait until the 27th. I have to admit though, the show is gaining real traction here in the states. And rightfully so.
I didn’t think it would. But when you look at it, it’s basically a funny message board come to life: these are not REAL conversations per se, but rather dropped bombs that try to one-up the next person. It’s a dizzy mix of shit-talking, Ontario slang and tongue twisters that has a completely original feel to it’s humour. The best is Shoresy, who throws epic insults out that sound like a stand-up comic spent two weeks in a hotel room thinking one up.
My wife and I started watching this show a week or so ago and absolutely love it. It might not resonate with a lot of Americans, but it certainly does in the northern states with a lot of rural areas. I grew up with a guy who talks and acts just like McMurray. I know a lot of people that started watching it. Shoresy is definitely the best. My favorite line (paraphrased): “Fuck you Reilly, the other night I fucked your mom so hard she shot cum across the room and killed my Japanese fighting fish.”
Wait until you get to the latest season. Shorsey is featured heavily, and it has some of the best one-liners ever.
Awesome. We just finished the Christmas episode at the end of Season 5, so were crushing through about 2-3 a night at this point.
I know Jared Keeso also plays Shoresy (hence why you never see his face a la Wilson) but isn’t that also him doing every voice on the call-in show when everyone starts calling in just to trash McMurray?
There are a lot of McMurrays out there. McMurray’s wife is a variation I’ve met more than a couple times, only not hilarious like she is. Just over-affectionate booze hags. YEW!!!!!!
I gave it a try. My brother powered through it. Show certainly has its own style. I just couldnt get into the joke pattern and rapid fire line delivery. Just got tiring for me. Give them credit for trying things differently. From what I made it through, show wasnt for me.
It's a Canadian streaming service who licenses various content from HBO, etc, as well as make their own content. If I'm not mistaken, Letterkenny is a Crave Original, as in they are the ones who paid to make it happen in the first place.
Yeah, the parts where they blast through a bunch of puns got old pretty quick. Luckily, the rest of the show is weird and funny enough to keep me engaged.
It would be better if they did the pun runs to 3 or 4 at a shot. The show other than that is pretty fantastic.
