I know we just had that thread about awesome unexpected food combinations, but I just ran into this video of a surprisingly apt pairing between the two part Wings for Marie Tool song and a synopsis of the Matrix trilogy and it got me wondering about awesome combinations of the non-food variety.

It's worth a look/listen. (Sorry mods, not YouTube, so YouTube tags don't work)

The only annoying thing is that he cuts off the end of the song.

Focus: Where have you found unexpectedly good pairings in life? You found out your ex is an amazingly good wingman at the bar? You realize that nachos are the perfect pit-stop snack between sexual bouts so impressive it would make the Pope himself shout "Olé!"? You realize after the girl from the bar falls asleep that her Shih Tzu also functions as an awesome towel for wiping up errant nacho cheese?

    Tell us.

I posted this in the YouTube All-Stars thread, but I'll be damned if I haven't been listening to this song non-stop for the past few days.

Bullshit and Party in the USA (Audio NSFW)

I also posted this in the Youtube thread. I'll be damned if it isn't catchy as hell.

If anybody here plays Super Smash Bros (a game ideally played while smashed) you will enjoy this.

Don't ask me why there are X-Box 360 controllers pictured in the video.

After seeing Ingloriouous Basterds, Tarantino is a bonifide thriller director. Keeping away from his usual hip crime capers, he makes and oddball war movie consisting of a dozen or so long scenes (much like Hitchcock's Rope) where just builds up the tension and builds up the tension to the boiling point before letting it cut loose with either a total red herring or explosive violence.

Tarantino in the real deal as a director, and having him make another thriller is a great combination.

Yes, I'm gonna be that extra nerdy guy. And yes, I will probably piss off some Nirvana fans.

But you know what, I don't care. This is actually a strangely good combination.

    Nirvana and Rick Astley combined.

One of my favorites. I just realized I listen to this one a whole lot when I'm baking for some reason. Who knows.

Beer and running. The hardest part about running is getting through the muscle cramps. If I shotgun a beer right before I run a lengthy marathon, I feel no pain at all. I just feel sorry for the guy behind me.

Oh, and Eric Cartman singing Come Sail Away by Styx is hilarious. Back when I was in middle school, I used to have a copy of the CD this version of the song was on and played it quite liberally during breaks. Needless to say, the look on people's faces when the intro stopped and Cartman started singing was always priceless.

Here's one that sounds like a good combination but really isn't: Chainsaw + beer.

Have you ever heard the term "Widow maker?" Do you know where it comes from? It refers to the dead limbs on the tops of trees and when you're trying to cut the tree down they may or may not land on your head.

I was half way through the tree when that fucker came crashing down. Thanks to my cat like reflexes I just got scraped by a few stray branches. God damn I'm an idiot...I knew that damn thing was there in the first place.

I ended up hooking a chain to the tractor and pulling it the rest of the way down.

    Beer + tractor = good.
    Beer + chainsaw = bad.

I've posted about Umphrey's Mcgee in the Music thread, but they are oddly appropriate for this thread. They fairly frequently do live mash-ups of songs, often with songs that are very different in their musical style. One of my personal favorites is a mash-up that they did this Halloween that they call Sweet Sunglasses. It's a combination of Sweet Dreams by the Eurythmics, I Wear My Sunglasses at Night, and Electric Feel by MGMT. They also do a mash-up of Come Together and Closer, by NIN.

Edit: I had some problems uploading the songs off of my computer, so here's a link to the Come Closer mash-up. It's at the very end of the set. NSFW because of the lyrics to Closer.

    Santeria Garden

Mj and Daft Punk make a kickass pair

The best mix I've ever heard in my life was Beastie Boys' "An Open Leter To NYC" with Imagine playing in the background but it's sine been deleted from te internet. If any you can find it please post it here.

Put a bunch of white guys, a few reggae albums, an Elvis impersonator, and some Led Zeppelin recordings in a blender and you get Dread Zeppelin:

Personally I kind of dig this stuff, but people look at me like I'm insane when I play it.

EDIT: Apparently I'm to stupid to embed Youtube videos.

SG EDIT: Highlight the youtube link and the click the youtube box.

I pimped this girl on the old board trying to get her name out there.

Mix a 15 year old girl with a guitar and with any luck you get Desire Bassett.

And here she is at 16 playing an original song on some cheesy local show:

I have her albums and they are awesome (And I might add that she is a great kid...I've had a bit of correspondence with her over the internet. Shes a normal kid with an extraordinary talent.)

When it comes to cooking, I would consider myself fairly average, but there is one meal that I can cook to perfection everytime. I call it the "foiled dinner."

What I do is take two chopped sausages, a full (chopped) potato , carrots, onions, pineapple, honey-roasted peanuts, shredded cheese, bbq sauce, salt, pepper and PEANUT BUTTER. I add the ingredients to a folded, tin foiled pouch. I then add water, or (beer for flavor) and cook in the oven or over coals in a fire-pit for one hour.

I've cooked this meal for at least 20 different people over the years, and it has always garnered a positive response. The addition of peanut butter was merely an experient long ago, but I found it added something of a thai flavor to the dish.

Try it. You won't be dissapointed.
