    This.

The website I found it on has a whole collection of skins. One of them is bound to please and sparkle with the council.

That one looks great, but has an annual fee attached. These look pretty good too in my opinion (at least they do with a less flashy background - Firebug is your friend).

Linear, Kind Of Music and Sitting Duck all have that light, but not too light thing going on, which I like.

Someone please tell me I am not the only one who doesn't really care what it looks like. Form over function has reached its apex with the internet.

Just bring on the free entertainment and thanks for that.

I'm with you on that point. I don't care what it looks like really as long as it's not red-on-black.

Will we have the option of displaying 100 posts per page? One of the motorcycle forums I'm on has that and it's awesome. They use vBulletin.

This would be a nice feature. On another website I visit, you can set up how you want the threads to appear: post numbers, bulletin/thread style, and even color schemes.

I'm not sure how pricey it would be, but it would be cool to have a couple of color options. For example, I like that blue steel skin which is lighter, but some of the nerds around here like the black with lighter lettering and features. Maybe we can pick one light and one dark skin and allow users to set which one they use on their control panel.

Users can set their own override for the posts per page count in VB.

Will the new place have an option where I can turn my mouse pointer into a little computer animated monkey who runs all over the screen wherever I move my mouse and does a pelvic thrust that shoots a banana from his crotch at anything I click?

Yeah, but he's a 65 year old 'MERICAN who is also my local tax assessor. And I don't think he has any secret crazy-monkey coding skillz.

SO GET ON IT, 'NADIAN! MAKE MY MONKEY-MOUSE HAPPEN!

Where the hell are the banana-thrust-clicks?!?

This, ladies and gentlemen, is what happens when you outsource internationally.

Obviously we need to be "outsourcing internationally" wayyyyy more often.

Sorry if this is a dumb question - I don't know anything about bulletin board codes or setup or whatever. But is it cost or software requirement or the bulletin board platform or what, that controls the skin? The reason I'm asking, is that on a couple other forums that I visit, each user can choose their own skin, from 6-8 choices. So, if some people like dark on light or vice versa . . . to each his own.

Forum software more often than not requires skins that are specific to that forum.

Free forum software, like this one (phpBB), tend to have a bunch of free skins available for them. For instance, the one we're using didn't cost us.

VB is a commercial forum software product. That has fostered a "for-pay" skin market, and it's hard to find quality skins that are free.

Sure, we could post up a bunch of different themes, but any customization we do would then require that all of those skins be modified. I'm not a big fan of doing that, so we usually just lock it into a single theme. (We can decide whether users have the "choose my own skin" option).

If we were getting paid for doing this, or it was a subscription based forum, I could see us spending the time and effort to do that, but otherwise I just don't have the motivation for it.

Has quality skin ever been free?
