Lots of discussion in the female thread, so can we do a male version of this please? If we are going to objectify and critique strangers, then I say equal opportunity for all (but really I just want to post pics of some attractive men, I'll let you weigh in on which those are). Hopefully the images selected are representative, but I am sure you will let me know if they are not. Skinny fat: Spoiler Fit but not bulky: Spoiler Crossfit guy: Spoiler Ze Terminator: Spoiler Or for those of you who prefer the curvy, soft type: Spoiler Are fit men the most attractive, and how much muscle is too much?
If I had to go gay, I'd go gay for Tom. I mean look at him. Giselle could never understand him like I do.
He's the only one that didn't make me laugh out loud. You girls are a lot more forgiving of stereotype pictures of other women than I am of the same kind of pictures of men. I'm still chuckling at the curvy dude. There is no way that guy has not had the term "bear" applied to him at least once.
I know you have all been dying for my opinion since I started the thread and all. My immediate gut reaction is fit but not bulky, I generally favor the lean look, but boy does that pic (or series of pics, there are more) of Joe Manganiello really make me want lick his 10 pack (amongst other things)
I vote for fit but not bulky. I'm not a huge fan of muscles (like, I appreciate them, but they're not the first thing I'm looking for), so I have a fairly low threshold for when they actually become a turn off. (Edit: The crossfit guy is a turn off, for example.) I like some definition, and nice manly thickness, even if he's softer around the edges. As long as I feel like I'm protected when he's hugging me, then it's a good man body. It's retro, but that really is what I'm looking for.
The boyfriend is built like Levine. I dig it. But to be honest, I've dated all types, I'm not particularly picky. All I ask is that they don't be Asian. Asian women are fine, but Asian men are not appealing.
I wonder if this is a similar situation to what men say about women's clothing. Women tend to dress for other women, maybe men work out for other men. It seems that the majority of women that I know prefer the fit but not bulky size and find too many muscles to be somewhat of a turn off, while men seem to want bigger muscles. And I mean this in a strictly not gay way. And I wish that the skinny fat guy I posted didn't have such an unfortunate face.
Men work out for women and for that whole superiority thing with other guys. Personal fitness and ego also plays a factor. At least for me personally. I hate being mushy. How important is it to a woman that a man stays in shape? I gotta admit, I don't care what kind of personality they have, the skinny/fat and soft dudes make me nauseous. The failure to give one damn about their health or the manifestation of bitch tits on themselves says plenty about their personality types, making a girl laugh be damned. Is the beer gut ever sexy?
I fucking lose my shit for Adam Levine's body. I used to like my boys really skinny, but that's changed a lot. Boy is a BJJ student/wakeboarder so he's super fit, and very lean with broad shoulders. He's sexy as all hell and that's now my favorite body type. Speaking of really skinny, I don't think that was mentioned in the body types for men. Spoiler Not skinny fat, just skinny. Also, that was the most apt picture I could find because 1) Skinny boys apparently all are emo and 2) I didn't look that hard.
While it's more common in Western countries for an Asian man to be built like that, a lot of male vanity in Asian culture places importance on feminine and thin qualities, which is not attractive to me an Asian-American. I stereotype that way against Asian men, and it's actually pretty common amongst Asian American girls. edit- behold a typical Asian boy band Spoiler
Try making that argument with a typical Asian guy, Tokyo Drift excluded. Asian dudes do have it tough, though, from all demographics. Better hope that career pans out. In general, seeing how forgiving women are with men's body types makes me feel like an asshole for being so damn picky with the females. Good on you, ladies.
I had to laugh at the skinny fat guy you posted, you went tit for tat finding a guy with a weird oblong body. I have a feeling, not positive, that the crossfit picture is a body builder modeling as a crossfitter. From the shows on ESPN it seems like there are maybe a few bulkier dudes that do it but most are just guys with a decent build and -4.5 percent body fat: Example: Kind of hard to get real bulky with as much cardio and endurance training they do.
Yeah, I feel bad for the ladies. If I were into men, Adam Levine was the only one of the five that I thought was a good looking guy. Then again, I'm shocked on a daily basis that all women aren't lesbians. I'm obviously happy they're willing to sleep with guys, but damn, if I were a chick, total lesbian.
Actually he is an actor. I googled and it looks like he has always been an athlete, he used to do crossfit, but for his current role he had to get leaner and more cut, so he started to put more emphasis on cardio and diet to lean him out. I probably could have found a more representative picture, but I just really liked that one. (yes, slow day at the ole office)
