For years I've had this discusion with friends and family about who's the ultimate bad guy of all time. Some have said Darth Vader, others Bill Lumburgh and maybe Scar from the Lion King. I enjoed this thread from the last board and thought it'd be fun to revive it here. Focus: Who are the baddest of the bad? Which characters made you want to rip their throats out and feed it to dogs? Alt/Focus: Which bad guys did you always root for? To start it off, I'm naming the most hated and dispiesed old scrooge that has ever graced the movie screen MR. POTTER
Alt-Focus When the term "believeable master criminal" springs to mind, look no further than Neil McCaulay. Cool, calculated, and cold as ice. More importantly, so admirable you actually WANT him to get away by the climax.
I'm going old school, and these may not be the BEST villians, but the funnest. Two of my favorites from Silence of the Lambs: And then of course Patrick Bateman Edit - sorry that was a weird combo of jason and justine bateman mistake. And a likely sign I should go to bed.
I think one of the best villains is the zombies in World War Z. Too many villains are retarded instead of ruthless. They'd rather showboat than shut up and get the job done. They all have the classic James bond villain flaw. But zombies, when done correctly, are perfect. They don't sleep, they don't get distracted, they don't give up, and best of all, they don't spend time gloating, they just kill/infect you in the least ceremonious way possible. And, despite how effective they are, especially compared to the typical Hollywood villain, you can't possibly root for them. There's nothing sexy or suave about a zombie. The Borg and Replicators (Stargate) were like this, until the shows screwed them up by adding in personalities.
Who? On focus though, Most Rooted for Villain? both as professor Sub-Zero in running man, and as the big muscly guy in three ninjas. Most horrifying... either or the actually realistic , Alex Forrest
I'm gonna make this pencil disappear. What's the most you've ever lost on a coin toss? \ And of course, the single greatest villain ever. "When I left you, I was but a learner. Now I am the master."
Agree with Anton Chigurh. <a class="postlink" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWQmnm06oUk&feature=player_embedded" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWQmnm06 ... r_embedded</a> If you don't know Scorpius you are missing out.
He's perfect at flip-flopping between being a normal guy and being a murderer. On top of that he's so nonchalant about killing people, like it's just another chore he has to finish that day. . Judge Frollo gets my vote for worst Disney villain though. Yeah, I know it was based off a book, but so was everything Disney did. He sings an entire song about how the gypsy better accept his dick or he's gonna burn her alive, then proceeds to gallivant through Paris burning the shit out of everyone. He traps a family in a house and tries to burn them alive, and of course all in the name of God, which makes it scarier. Moral righteousness makes for the creepiest villains.
A special mention has to be given to Kakihara of the notorious and misogynistic Ichi The Killer as...well....one of the sickest characters ever devised. I won't give this movie away, but I promise a deleriously audacious roller coaster ride for those with strong stomachs. It's directed by Takashi Miike (Audition).
Jean Hughes Anglade, as Eric from Killing Zoe. This guy makes Mr. Blonde from Reservoir Dogs look like Carry Grant. At least Blonde had a sense of honor; Eric stabbed all of his crew in the back to take all the goods from their score. And of course, Mr. Blonde (Michael Madsen).
