Might as well start it now. A buddy of mine started a Fantasy Football league on Yahoo. I made the mistake of joining it. What is it with people and their ridiculously fucking stupid settings? This league has already auto-drafted, and this is my team. I wish I was making this up. If it doesn't say BN, that means it's a starting position. If you see two or three names, that's how many you need to start: QB Tony Romo WR Julio Jones Denarius Moore Anquan Boldin RB Trent Richardson Jamaal Charles TE Jermichael Finley W/T Rueben Randle W/R Kendall Wright BN Michael Bush Alex Green Sam Bradford Mohamed Massaquoi Joel Dreessen Dezmon Briscoe K Dan Carpenter DEF New England D Keenan Clayton DB Ray Ventrone DL Mario Addison LB Clay Matthews Parys Haralson DT Chigbo Anunoby Dwayne Hendricks DE Austen Lane Keyunta Dawson CB Reggie Corner Torri Williams S Matt Merletti Quinton Pointer It's a SIXTEEN TEAM LEAGUE. Re: 2012-13 Fantasy Football Thread The Yahoo Auto-draft gave everyone no name, shitty defenders. Raided the waivers for all the good people. I have a projected advantage over every other team in the league of at least 40 points a week now.
Re: 2012-13 Fantasy Football Thread Who the fuck are Reuben Randle and Kendell Wright? Jesus. I'd probably start Bush over both. And who the fuck drafts before training camp?
Re: 2012-13 Fantasy Football Thread My idiot friend, who couldn't hold his fucking wad and had to hurry up and draft.
Re: 2012-13 Fantasy Football Thread That's some pre-mature shit right there. That's like busting your nut before you even meet up with the girl on her date.
Well, since I just had my first draft last night, I'll post the first "probably a little early but not so early it is a joke" draft results: This is a 10 team league. 50 yards per point passing, 20 yards per point receiving and rushing (fractional points), and 6 points for all TDs. There is no TE, just WR/TE flex positions. Everything else is standard. Round drafted is in parenthesis. QB: Jay Cutler (6) RB: McFadden (2) RB: Ryan Mathews (4) W/T: Calvin Johnson (1) W/T: Roddy White (3) W/T: Marques Colston (5) W/T/R: Peyton Hillis (7) K: Jason Hanson (15) Def: Pittsburg (12) BN: Aaron Hernandez (8) BN: RGIII (9) BN: Pierre Garcon (10) BN: Jason Witten (11) BN: Jacquizz Rodgers (13) BN: Mikel Leshoure (14) I drafted 8th overall out of 10, so by the time it got to me, the top 3 QBs were gone (Brees, Brady, Rodgers) and the top three RBs (McCoy, Foster, Rice), so I had to make a choice. The guy who drafted right before me took Chris Johnson, so I absolutely dove at the chance to get Megatron. Fuck it, I'd rather have the absolute best at his position than the 4th or 5th best RB or QB, especially with such a monsterous drop off in quality after the top three at the QB and RB positions. There was also a major QB run in the 2nd round, so I said fuck it and chose to wait as long as I could before drafting Cutler (admittedly a bit of a homer pick). I'm hoping the combination of a healthy Forte and Michael Bush make defenses respect the run enough that Cutler can reconnect big with Marshall. If RGIII pans out, awesome; he'll either make a starter over Cutler or fantastic trade bait to trade up when McFadden or Mathews get hit with a stiff breeze and break their legs. I was happy Mathews fell as far as he did, because EVERYONE was scared off by his injury and him potentially missing the first two games. I'll happily take him where I did, wait until week 3 (with Hillis stealing TDs in KC as my RB2, and Aaron Hernandez in my flex), and then reap some nice rewards once he is, really, the ONLY decent RB in San Diego now that Tolbert is gone. I also have, far and away, the best W/T combo in the league. A few oddities in our league: The guy who chose first drafted 4 RBs in the first 5 rounds. His only other pick was a QB, Eli Manning in round 4. He picked Arian Foster first (Fair enough), then Maurice Jones-Drew and Steven Jackson on his next two, and Trent Richardson in round 5. As a result, his W/T are super weak (Antonio Gates, Torrey Smith, Denarious Moore) compared to everyone else. I should also note he chose a 5th RB (Doug Martin) before he chose his last WR/TE. So he has 6 Running Backs, and only 3 WR/TEs overall. He also picked 2 kickers. I have no idea why, but he completely fucked himself. Another guy drafted Cam Newton first, and Gronkowski second. If he were drafting for 2011, he'd be set. However, he apparently has never heard of sophomore slumps. Newton won't get nearly the goal line carries he got last year, and Gronk has just too many weapons around him, and will be getting too much coverage, to get the kind of TD numbers he got last year. Overall, it is a 10 team league, so all the teams are at least kinda stacked, but I feel pretty damn good. I don't have a top 3 QB or RB, but I do have Megatron, as well as a lot of really high upside guys.
Just don't participate now because that league will be zero fun. I joined a fantasy baseball league like that years ago and it was bullshit. The scoring is idiotic so just quit now.
Here is my team; Aaron Rogers-GB QB Steven Jackson-STL RB Benjarvus Green Ellis-CIN RB Brandon Lloyd, NE WR WR DeSean Jackson, Phi WR P TE Jimmy Graham, NO TE FLEX Brandon LaFell, Car WR Jets D/ST D/ST Robbie Gould, Chi K Ben Tate, Hou RB Mario Manningham, SF WR Peyton Hillis, KC RB Daniel Thomas MIA RB Laurent Robinson, Jac WR Rashard Mendenhall*PIT RB Kendall Hunter, SF RB How did I do? Anyone I should dump for a qb option? Any unheard of WR's that I should trade for?
You've got the best QB in football. The only time you'll need another QB is on Rodgers' bye week or if he gets injured. That said, your WR are somewhat weak. DeSean Jackson can be an elite receiver when his head isn't firmly entrenched up his own ass (which it usually is), and Brandon Lloyd is competing with a lot of guys for looks and touches in that New England offense. Lloyd will be feast for famine, because he'll be the N.E. deep threat. He'll either get four catches for 100+ yards and a TD if he breaks a big one, or 2 catches for 15 yards if he doesn't. Jackson, sadly, will be the same. Jimmy Graham is steady, and he'll get you consistent points, so that will help, but some weeks you're going to win in a blowout after Jackson and Lloyd have big games, and some weeks you'll get killed when they don't give you anything. Your RBs are pretty good for where (I assume) you picked them. I'm assuming you got Rodgers in the first round, so those RBs were either 2nd round or later. BJGE will be seeing a lot more carries than he has ever seen, and may break down. Jackson is consistent, however, and should be an okay RB option. Overall, not bad, but your team will be feast or famine. I honestly don't know what your options would be, besides watching the waiver wire closely for a breakout WR that you can snag.
Draft is about to start and I'm picking 18 in a 20 team league. I already feel like this is a waste of time. Why one of us didn't think to break this off into two 10-team leagues is beyond me, with the snake draft I'll be lucky to draft Jimmy Graham and Can Newton as my top playmakers. I'll be back with my lineup when this thing is over, but I'm in another league with my hockey team and we're drafting on Thursday and I'm hoping that goes much better. Right now I'm a bipartisan group of Staff Assistants on Capitol Hill which means we're sure to partake in loads of passive-aggressive name calling throughout the course of the season. Take it from me, if anyone sucks at trash talking, it's Hill staffers.
Also got screwed with a 20 team league, picked 17, I am fucked. Cam Newton Wes Welker Steve Smith DeSean Jackson Willis McGahee Jonathan Dwyer Brandon Pettigrew Tony Gonzalez Ryan Mathews Ryan Fitzpatrick Jabar Gaffney Joshua Cribbs Kevin Walter Tim Tebow Mason Crosby
So, I joined a fantasy league for the first time ever and basically have no idea how this all works. Guess I will just figure things out as it goes along. My hope is that it will increase my interest in watching football, I know that my husband would appreciate that. Oddly enough, he doesn't do fantasy football, so hopefully he can help me along as it goes. Here is my team overall (14 teams total - I just followed what everybody else did regarding positions)...who sucks? Aaron Rodgers Wes Welker Mark Sanchez Steve Smith Michael Bush Mike Tolbert Shonn Greene Willis McGahee Torrey Smith Ravens D Robbie Gould Steven Hauschka Owen Daniels Cardinals D
Wait, there is a third WR named Steve Smith? The one you want is on the Panthers. But you should look at finding help at RB.
Sorry, Steve Smith with the Panthers is who I have (got thrown off by the CAR in front of the name and the wine I drank). See, told you I didn't know what in the hell I was doing. I picked third and chose to pick the top QB instead of a RB. So 22 picks later, that is what was left.
Hrm- so I think I did okay in my league, but not something to rosterbate to. Thoughts? QB Cam Newton WR Calvin Johnson WR Mike Wallace RB Darren McFadden RB Ahmad Bradshaw TE Antonio Gates WRT Steve Johnson Bench QB RG3 RB David Wilson RB Peyton Hillis RB Michael Bush WR Justin Blackmon WR Anquan Boldin K Rob Bironas DEF Baltimore
