I still am yet to read the books, but 9 out of 10 people I talk to that have say that A Storm Of Swords is by far the best book. I am told it will take up season three AND four.

Martinn still has two more books to write (Winds of Winter and A Sign Of Spring) and (to me) has shown no hurry of finishing them, he is still in the middle of writing Winter-- he says both books will be the same length at about 1500 pages long (!?!). It's what, YEARS between book releases for him? How are they going to pad the TV series long enough for Martinn to release books that could take over ten years to come out?

    More GoT humour (for size):

Martin has reportedly told the GoT TV writers how he plans on ending every story arc within the next 2 books (subject to last minute creative modifications, of course) in case he's suddenly struck down by a severe case of the "I'm a morbidly obese old dude" and dies.

Wouldn't THAT be swell. Like the way some asshole took over the Bourne series after Ludlum died. At least he gave away the plot to the writers so some fly-by-night shit-on-his-shoes hack author doesn't fabircate what everyone has grown to love just recently.

Just a point, this didn't get popular just recently. ASOIAF was a wildly successful book before the TV show. Martin was filthy rich from it before the show ever got optioned.

I've said before. There is no way to wrap this up in two books. There is way too much plot, and factor in the 2 books could take 15 years. The book was originally a trilogy, then a set of five, now it's seven. Throw in the fact the has blown past publication dates by years, I wouldn't really count on anything he's telling them.

Funny thing about MArtinn: he wrote TV first. Beauty and the Beast is one of them. In the world of books (remember those?) they ARE popular. But now, the series is a pop culture phenomenon. It's starting to attract a fanboy-cult style following, complete with show prop/costume tours and conventions. It seems to be a real go-to for Halloween costumes as well.

None of that explains how great this show is, though. No show has ever had characters (no matter how large or small the part) with such deep dimensions, at the same time it's so hard to figure out what their ture motives are. Backstories with backstories, most of them red herrings to make it seem more real. Although art director Gemma Jackson is the show's TRUE star.

It is funny about Beauty and the Beast. By all accounts that made him a millionaire and let him be able to write ASOIAF. On top of it I actually found some of Martin's earlier, one off novels to be the better than ASOIAF.

The closet thing I can think of similar to what A Game of Thrones has done, is the Walking Dead. Both were huge properties in their medium, and one of the few that gained appeal outside of their normal readers. A Game of Thrones has turned out to be a far better show, and read, though. Some cast members of Walking Dead and A Game of Thrones will be in my city for a comic convention in a couple months, I am very interested to find out who ends up selling more tickets.

As an aside, if you like the deep back story and fantasy, Steven Erikson "Malazan Book of the Fallen" makes GRRM's world building and characters look simple.

They left out the fact that the girl who plays Shae used to be a german porn star. Getting deep dicked with a horrible tattoo and pre nose job.

FUCK YAH GHOST MAWL THAT BLUE-EYED BEEYATCH

That giant was fucking amazing-looking. The CGI really improved this season, at least with this episode.

That was a much better premiere than season 2, Jon's story is already looking more interesting, Dani's is looking awesome and I can't wait for more of the same from Tyrion and Bronn.

Stannis is being a fucking pussy-whipped bitch. You're already a milquetoast, and you're looking for ways to make yourself even MORE uninteresting? At least he's badass when he throws down.

I liked it a lot, some solid set-ups. I still wanna know what happened to Theon, and hoped he got the bitch slapped out of him more than twenty times.

Yes, very very much, to both.

Maybe it's just that the actors have settled into their roles finally.

I thought Seasons One and Two were awesome.

Last night, Holy Fuck. There was not a bad performance. There wasn't a mediocre performance. Every single character brought it, and brought it big.

Has there been a better scene in the series than the one with Tyrion/Cersei and especially Tyrion and Tywin? Jesus. Wish I hadn't read the books and didn't know what was going to happen...

Nothing....NOTHING that happens to Cersei, no matter how horrible would make me pity her. I find her twice as reprehensible as Joeffrey. Smug twat.

I know why they did it, but the lack of the Arstan Whitebeard storyline was kind of disappointing (in the books, Barristan Selmy serves Daenerys in disguise for a substantial time). And makes me curious how they're going to introduce Strong Belwas now, since the book's narrative doesn't really make sense any more.

She sure is a bitch and has cheek bones and eye brows to match. But there were hints of her deep emotional attachment with her children that made her just a notch below Joffery. He's just a petulant child psychopath with not a single redeeming quality.
