Tyrion detailed the whole story of his wedding to Tysha last season while getting drunk with Bronn and Shae. NOT a spoiler. In talking about Ned Stark's infidelity, you have to put yourself in his shoes. Cat was originally betrothed to his brother Brandon (this was all detailed in the first book/season). Brandon was killed by the mad king Aerys Targarean, along with Ned's father. Ned being the honorable guy that he is agreed to marry Cat in his brother's place. They were wed not knowing each other, then Ned had to go and fight Robert's Rebellion. (Again, this was all detailed in the first book/season). Ned was away fighting for several years, during which he had a moment of weakness and cheated on his "wife" with a woman who will be named later in the series. Contrast that to Robert Baratheon who just doesn't give a shit and had sex all over the realm with anything. He had been madly in love with Ned's sister, and this was his way of coping with her death and his loveless marriage. Cersei know about Robert's continuing feelings for Lyanna, and knew that she would never measure up. They resented each other, and its obvious when you watch their last conversation. I contend that Ned's infidelity is more forgivable. Tywin most certainly knows of the accusations of Cersei's and Jaime's incest because of Stannis' letter that he sent all over the realm. If you'd like his opinion on incest, just ask his cousin, Joanna, whom he married. Tywin is cold and calculating, and will shit on anyone to maintain or accumulate power. His worst is yet to come. I'm not sure if he cheated on his wife.
Osha has nice tits. I can't wait to meet the Bastard Bolton. Dany is starting to annoy the hell out of me.
What a great episode. -Tyrion bitchslapping Joffrey was awesome. -Theon Greyjoy is a fucking prick. -The Arya-Tywin-Petyr Baelish scene was tense as hell. I think Baelish figured it out, but he's way too cunning and Machiavellian to simply reveal it to Tywin without it benefiting him somehow. Plus, he's in love with Cat Stark. This is one of the best side plots and In glad she reserved kill #2 for someone else. -And yeah, I don't give a shit about Danys storyline whatsoever.
The rich black guy in Qarth (who I will always name Xa Za Ducksauce) is starting to annoy with all his 'let me tell you how fucking rich I am. Filthy, filthy rich, I say.' Oh, and it amused me how Robb was completely oblivious to the gargantuan woman his mother brought with her. 'Oh, what's that? Just another giant female warrior wearing the armor of another king. No biggie.'
Ygritte was a hell of a lot tidier than the book made her out to be. Loving how everything at King's Landing is building to a climax, The Hound starting to show a bit of resentment towards Joffery is great.
Yes, very good episode. I am going to echo the Dany storyline being BOOOO-RING! I had a feeling she was being a little too careless with her dragons, I mean they are the only thing she has on her side at all. She had a couple of redesignated whores watching and taking care of them. You'd think a 24/7 guard made up of her toughest and loyalest blood riders would be the bare minimum. I forget, did she send her pledged knight off last episode? Why wasn't he there? This takes the cake for boringest line of the season followed closely by John Snows travels through the north. We got one second long peek at a white walker and everything else has been mmmmmmeeeeehhhhhh. Even this new girl he's picked up doesn't seem interesting . I guess Arya had no other choice but I was still frustrated she wasted yet another death on someone basically useless. I guess Martin is all about not giving you what you want. I seriously hope she saves the best for last. The scene with her and Little Finger was great and I too think he figured it out. But her interactions with Tywin are awesome. I have to think Theons dad and sister will be none to happy when they find out he let Bran and the littlest get away, due to his lechery none the less. Did they plan on him sneaking in and taking Winterfell like that? They never told him outright he just seemed to know his little ship and fish raiding was part of a guise. But did he decide to do it himself or did his father play it that way? I was kind of surprised how she had a little banging body. I figured she was mid to late 30s but according to imdb she's 27. They did a good job of dressing her down for the part.
Honestly, the only reason I still enjoy the storyline at all is because the characters in Qarth are so ridiculous in dress and speech. Ducksauce is a ridiculous caricature and the Spice Merchant is so hilariously peculiar. That and the sets are gorgeous. But other than that, yeah, its getting dumb. And as for Osha, it was the same thing in her role in Harry Potter, she's a bit quirky looking in her character roles, but actually pretty damn attractive.
Can somebody explain to how some mystery character that can barely carry baby dragons up a staircase cut the throats of two dozen people? Please don't tell me Doreah is some jacked-up ninja working for The Man. The Hound was awesome this episode. He's a lot cooler than when he was the giant retard bagboy in Hot Fuzz:
Well first time I could stop and say "Wow, that didn't happen in the book." Arya is fucking awesome, and the look on Jaqen's face when she is rushing him to kill someone is priceless. I can't wait for them to dig into this Red God shit deeply, we got 3 people, doing 3 different things that praise R'hollor. One has demon babies, one has a flaming sword, and one just makes dudes die. Also, funny criticism from Andy Greenwald about the premise of the show. He brings up the question "Why the fuck does everyone care so much about Westeros? Everyone and everywhere NOT Westeros seems to be so fucking exciting. Sallahdor Saan seems to be having the time of his life, Qarth is this beautiful city, 10 times more beautiful than King's Landing or Westeros, why does Dany and everyone want that Iron Throne so damn badly when everywhere else just looks better?" 4 books in, never thought about it. I don't have a good answer either.
I agree with this, however Dany wants to 'reclaim' the Iron Throne as she feels it belongs to her as it was 'unjustly stolen from her family by the Usurper (Robert)'.
Ehm, I haven't read the books, but isn't this kind of obvious? Sallahdor just wants to sack a giant city and rape, err.....'fuck' the queen. Qarth is beautiful, but it still has mostly shitty desert surrounding the place. And it's full of weirdos. Westeros might have some subpar regions, but it looks kind of hospitable and fertile.
Yeah, they announced this earlier (or somehow fans have known. I can't seem to turn up anything official). Even though I understand it (there are just too many characters in the ASOIF universe for practicality), this sucks, because Meera was a fantastic character.
I'm suprised they just didn't do a Jurrasic Park 2 and combine the characters. There was nothing contradicting about them.
It's already been mentioned that Dany feels it's her birthright. Ilyro wants to extend his influence in Westeros, as there is a lot of wealth to be had there, and he saw a path to that end by harbouring the Targaryen children, wedding Dany to Drogo and placing Viserys at the head of a Dothraki army. Drogo had no interest in the Iron Throne until Robert Baratheon tried to poison Dany. The various Lords of Westeros want more power, though I guess some simply want to serve their Leige Lord. Westeros is a land united by language, culture and a system of ruling Houses that extends back thousands of years to the coming of the Andals, whereas Essos consists of independant cities, dozens of languages, the Dothraki hoards and the Shadowlands beyond Assahi, which no one seems to know much about. Essos is really only united by the fact that it is one landmass, and unless there's some Gehngis Kahn type character not yet introduced, no one family could conquer and rule it.
Book Spoiler (sort of): Spoiler I feel like Osha is going to take that role. They've been setting her up as a guide for Bran, having him constantly ask her about his dreams. What that means for Rickon though, I've no idea.
Connection I just made today: the gay king was killed by a vagina-demon. Spoiler You say that like anyone ever knows where Rickon is anyway. That kid is the Where's Waldo of Westeros.
