Yep, other side of the coin was that I thought the actress who played Sansa didn't do a great job with the inner monologue that leads up to her first time defying Joffrey.

I was a little underwhelmed by the portrayal of Sansa as a whole. She becomes such a classic tragedy over the rest of the story that I really hopes the actress pulls it together.

Looks like a new cast member has been added to the Game of Thrones IMDB page for season 2. Since we didn't see this character in season one this is obviously spoilerish, so click at your own risk. Of course this could be rumor, but it seemed worth posting.

Apologies, that's actually from the Season 1 finale's cast page, but still, interesting to say the least.

I'm not finding confirmation. I believe anyone can edit IMDB which gives me sad face, because I got huge wood when I first read that.

A good season finale, but I think with Drogo and Ned gone the show is without a certain amount of panache. It's almost like Martin has a contempt for his readers. He gives them what they don't want, which makes every episode so watchable for viewers.

Please don't make a lot of CGI bullshit with the dragons a neat ending, but the last thing we need is cheesy 1980's-style sword & scorcery horseshit. This is character-driven and I want it to remain that way.

Yep, I agree with you there. While I enjoyed the thrill of seeing the dragons, I could give fuck all about special affects, I am more interested in how they advance the storyline. I have heard many people complain that they are feeling slighted because there haven't been any epic battle scenes. Eh, who cares. One thing that I love about this show is that there are so many characters and so many storylines and subplots but they are really doing great on character development, which is a tribute to great writing and (mostly) decent acting.

If Peter Dinklage doesn't get a well-deserved Emmy for his portrayal of Tyrion Lannister, I'll be shocked.

    Holy shit.
    DRAGONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so, so excited about the thing in the spoiler above. Y'all have no idea.

    More about the thing above:
Okay, so now the Khaleesi just has to steal enough money to buy every fossilized dragon egg in existence, torch anyone who gets in her way, and hatch more baby dragons in the fire. Then she can dress them all up in little dragon outfits and make them do cute things until they grow up, at which point she can use them to ignite the Lannisters and set herself upon the Iron Throne. And then she can marry Robb Starke or John Snow and live happily ever after. After using her dragon-army to lay waste to everything north of The Wall, thus ensuring that the WhiteWalkers never return again and earning the love of all in the Seven Kingdoms.

    I like this series.

    Thoughts:

-Lady Lannister (former Queen) is gross. I "get" doing the dirty with her brother...I mean, he said they were in love. Gross, but whatever. I can get behind that. But...ewwww. That page was barely legal. I thought he was a girl at first.

-Samsa needs to start banging the dude with the mangled face. Yeah, he's ugly. But he seems like a good sort, and he could protect her from Joffrey's awfulness.

I left the finale with a very strange feeling. I've never really watched a show that's presented like this. From every episode to the next, I don't know where the show is going to take me. While I was watching the finale, I kept looking at the clock and it quickly became apparent that there are still alot of threads that will be left open between Sansa and Joffrey, Arya going to the wall, Robb going to war, Lady Stark and Incest Boy's drama, Tywin and the midget going to claim the throne, Snow and the rest of the night watch going out hunting, Carcetti and the Eunuch, the Targaeryn woman and the dragons, etc etc etc. There's alot of shit going down. Its hard to keep up with.

That being said, once I took a step back I realized how awesome season 2 is going to be while at the same time I have no idea what is going to happen. I would read the books, but that would spoil everything.

Do you really think they can make a full season out of A Feast For Crows? I don't, which means he has three years to finish the series. That's just not going to happen. There is a lot going on in the next two books, so maybe they can stretch them out into more seasons. Realistically though, Martin's gonna have two pissed off fan bases instead on one when he takes another 5-6 years to write a book.

To be fair to the guy, Fire and Ice is so deep and complex that he has to pay a fucking fanboy to help him keep track of what and who is going on in the series. It's like God trying to remember everything since Creation...."Fuck, where did I put that platypus? Shit, I'll just throw some stuff together." or "Was Eve a B cup or a C?"

They can easily make a full season out of any of the books, and what I've been reading is that Storm of Swords will take two seasons. He's got some time, but not a whole lot. If I were him I'd shelve my other projects and bang out the next two books as soon as I can. He'll make more from an extra season or two of the show (assuming it gets that far) than he would from several of his book projects combined.

The show left out something very important relating to that scene. I don't feel it's a spoiler but I'll tag it just to be safe from the wrath of Chater:

The reason Tywin and Tyrion have that conversation is because Joffery appoints Tywin as the hand of the king, so that conversation is about Tywin sending Tyrion to be hand of the king in his place.

And just think, he's a Lannister too. He's Cercei's cousin; the son of her uncle Kevan.

A Storm of Swords will probably takes two seasons, and with the messed up timeline of aFFC and aDWD, it wouldn't surprise me if they make those two books into 3 seasons.

At the most, he could be looking at 6 more seasons before the new book. But considering the last one took 5 to write, he still doesn't exactly have a ton of time.

And on an entirely separate note. I cannot wait to see dragons start to fuck shit up.
Do you think they will be the big huge dragons, or the little ones from right before they died out?

Arya is going to Winterfell, The Night Watchman is using the boys he is taking as a cover, while he takes Arya to Winterfell.

I honestly don't think it's going to take him five years to write the next book. A big reason for the delay in the latest book was him trying to maintain continuity with all the storylines he's got going. I think he converges or resolves some of them in A Dance with Dragons so he'll have an easier time writing the next two books and hopefully won't take as long.
