New season trailer leaked out. It's recorded off a screen or large TV, but temper your expectations, but it is nonetheless exciting!
Pretty fucking schweet. Are they condensing the next two books into one season? Ive read two books cover the same events from many different characters. Im not sure how much I like Alexander Sidig joining the cast. My most hated actor of all of Deep Space Nine was he's petulant over acting ruined his character Dr Bashir. Hopefully the directing can pull a good effort out of him. Im not even sure if he's that big a character in the series.
What's important to take away form that trailer is that, yes, we will have more Melisandre nudity. Anyway, it does look like they're doing books 4 and 5 side by side, which is how you'd have to for television I think. That will hopefully require the condensing and editing necessary to make those books (particularly 5) not such a shitshow. As for Alexander Siddig, hopefully being older has made him a more mature actor and Prince Doran is a mostly sitting down and subtle character as well.
They are pretty much sealed on making this a seven season show. Winds Of Winter will be released in 2015 but Dream of Spring will not be out before the final season of the show, so Martin gave away how the series will end to the producers. Martin also said he may make a final book after Dream Of Spring if he's still alive and the fans want a more tidy wrap-up.
Updated working video. Also, Winds of Winter will be released in 2016. They just said it won't be released in 2015.
Shouldn't it be 8 seasons since they split book 3 into two seasons? Or maybe 9 even if they decide to split the last book based on Martin's outline, or if he actually does stay ahead of the show. Personally, I'm hoping he does. I plowed through the books a couple years ago and since I started the series with reading it I want to finish it that way. Even if he does finish book 6 by 2016 though, that's going to leave him very little time for book 7 given how slow he's been writing lately. And he's saying not until 'at least' 2016. Ugh. The 3 novella prequels do sound interesting though. I've always thought it was a series that actually could benefit from a prequel, but I assumed it would be either the Targaryen conquest, or the storyline with young Robert and Ned overthrowing Aerys. Can't remember what happened in the time period 100 years prior in GOT lore.
Agreed, that decision on Martin's part was terrible. The events outlined in 4 and 5 could easily be one season, since 2/3rds of 5 is a retread of 4 from different points of view. A part of me is really annoyed with Martin. He's fucking around doing all this other shit while potentially leaving the greatest thing he's ever written unfinished. On the other hand, I get it, he toiled in relative obscurity for years and years and now has the cache to do exactly what he wants, which is exactly what'd I do in those circumstances. In short, finish the books, Martin.
Let's be realistic Martin has always going to die before finishing this series. I'll accept HBO closing it off in one way that may be mildly unsatisfactory than waiting for his heir to take over and explain that it was all a bondage fantasy of christian grey while fisting a ballerina as he mumbled the tale of westeros as foreplay. When 2 of the novels took you years upon years and basically cover the same time frame and overlapping time frames with secondary characters it's safe to know you have no fucking clue where to go and are stalling. Hell I couldn't do better but 5 years per novel isn't a creation of an epic, it's a way to keep people waiting for your writers block to recede enough.
Well, eventually the TV watchers won't have to live under the TYRANNY of the book readers. Game of Thrones Creators Confirm the Show Will Spoil the Books This story links to a bunch of interesting stories. Some of them spoilers, be careful.
SHIT STARTS THIS SUNDAY! OMG OMG OMG! OMG! I AM NOT READY BUT I AM SO READY! Now if anyone cares GRRM dropped another chapter to the book. It's a Sansa chapter, so it's interesting but not anything spoilery. http://www.vcpost.com/articles/5611...inds-of-winter-2016-teases-sample-chapter.htm
From what I've heard so far, the first 6 have been leaked by the translators. (Bundy, sent you a "PM" with a link for #1).
I only found the first four, so far it's another kick ass season. They are really splitting from the books now. Whereas in the previous seasons you had a minor change here or there, it's getting to the point where they are telling a different story with the same characters rather than staying parallel. Spoiler It's a mixed bag for me thus far. I hate the storyline with Sansa marrying Ramsay because it's just too hard to swallow. I don't even buy Roose going along with it, which he pretty much admitted in episode 3. "This makes no sense, but we're all doing it because..." I do like the change with Jaime going to Dorne and the deviations they've made in the Cersei/Brienne plots. If the complaint for the last two books in the series was that they were moving too slowly and had unnecessary side plots, the writers are setting it up nicely to avoid that. Overall it's been enjoyable thus far. I am nervous about how far they're drifting, but we'll see. I have to admit it's nice to not know how things will play out. Because of what they've already done a lot of the threads can't reach the same conclusions. We're also getting to see a lot of relationships between characters that were really important, but got glazed over in the books, which happened earlier between Talisa/Robb, but didn't ultimately change anything. Now, it probably will.
Binged through the first four, overall it is shaping up to be another great season. I wonder what HBO is thinking at this point with the premiere tonight and the HBO GO release, I know as a fan they should just pull a Netflix and release the whole season on GO, given that there is 4 weeks of spoilers out there now for fans to try and avoid.
This is probably an annoying, ignorant question to ask - but should I be worried about downloading episodes with the fallout from the Dallas Buyers Club situation?
The only letter Ive ever gotten was from downloading HBO stuff even though they brag about their huge download numbers. Ive thought about getting a VPN just to have something in the way. I don't see HBO pulling a Netflix just yet and releasing all of them. Part of me really likes the old school event style watching of HBO shows. This one in particular because I mainly watch this show with my friends each week. Something I don't do for any other show on. I binged the first 4 because, fuck it, this season so far is AWESOME. Spoiler Is that the same actor who played Measter Luwin as the head of the religious order in Kings Landing? Da fuq? IMDB isn't listing him as both but I swear that's him.
