Since I decided to actually post here rather than just lurk, I thought I would share my one and only expertise- Sports Betting. This is actually the only non-gambling board that I've ever posted on. If anyone is interested in sharing or discussing gambling picks/theory/terms let me know and I'll try to get around to them all. If not, I'll post some selections in this forum for now and see how they do. I've had a nice NFL year thus far.
I don't understand point spreads that have half points. For instance if the spread on a baseball game is team + 3.5 that means that the team essentially, in gambling terms, starts with that much at the beginning of the game right? But isn't a spread* of 3 just as good as 3.5? I don't understand this because half points aren't awarded in a baseball game. Can someone please explain this to me? *I'm pretty sure that's the right term
Half points eliminate the possibility of a push (tie). If a team is getting 3 points (+3), they have to lose by less than 3 (if you take the points) or the other team has to win by 4 (If you give the points). Otherwise, it's a push. You don't win or lose, but you may have to still pay the juice on the bet. If the same team was getting 3.5, they have to lose by 3 or less (if you take the points) or the other team has to win by 4 (giving the points). There is no tie possibility.
A month ago I had a basic understanding of this game. Now I love it. Playing with your friends and real humans is obviously the best. But I play online a lot too. I use Full Tilt. I play with play chips though. I don't want to risk losing real cash. If anyone has full tilt pm me your user name and we can play at the same tables. Or if the overwhelming majority of you use a different program then I'll download that one. Can anyone recommend a website that might be better than Full Tilt? My decision process was as following: "hmmm Full Tilt poker.... Well, it was the first to come up in the Google search for online poker. That's good enough for me!"
Which accumulators are worth doing during during the world cup? I was thinking of maybe going for: Germany vs. Australia Netherlands vs. Denmark Japan vs. Cameroon Italy vs. Paraguay a fiver would return a little over 80.
Stupid question but if america wins in extra time or penalties would my bet on them to win still count or will the game be considered a draw? Made the bet at a bookie not online and asked for USA to beat Ghana but forgot to ask about weather it would be just for the first 90 mins or full game...
I am looking to place a few bets on football games this year. I found sportsbook.com and wanted to know if anyone has anything to say about it before I start using it. Is there any difference between the different sites, which site should I use, and do any of them use paypal ( i have that already) or are they all going to require me giving out CC info? Any rookie basic information would be appreciated
You won't really find any places taking paypal, but most will take Moneygram and Western Union, which you can do online or you can call in and an agent will do anything in their power to help you get the money in. Sportsbook.com is good, and you'll find some good lines at youwager.com, betus.com, and 5dimes.com, and all of those places have pretty convenient and fast payouts if you win.
I'm seeing spreads between 10-12 on the Bama vs. Penn State game on saturday. This is my lock of the week, chances of the national champions not blowing out a true freshman are slim to none. Penn State has a very conservative defense known for not giving up big plays, but with Alabama dominating possession and field position I predict a long day for the N. Lions. As long as the spread doesn't get over 14 I got 200 on the tide if it goes over 14 I'm probably sticking to a hundred. Joey Bag what's your NFL pick?
So should i be pissed or happy it was a push in the NO v Min game... because I'm pissed. My first online bet is a TIE!? I did put a few more bets down so we'll see how it comes out on Sunday/Monday...
This week I started an account with Sports Interaction. Enjoying the betting so far. They have a ton of stuff to bet on. Tonight I have a bet in on every NHL game (trying out a system I thought up based around the sometimes flukey nature of the NHL). Then I went on and noticed they put up lines for the OHL tonight. Well I'll be damned if I was gonna not bet when they have some of the top teams in the league paying over double my money against some of the lower teams in the league.
I have a question that I think a few people might be interested in the answer to. What is the current state of online gambling? I guess I mean that in terms over how possible it is in the U.S. with the newest laws (or even if it is possible). What are the best sites that people have had success with? Any to avoid? What are your recent experiences (good or bad)? I used to use 5Dimes and even Bodog, but those have long since become near unusable. I haven't place an online bet in years and was interested in getting back in to dabbling a little. I know this was discussed rather extensively on the RMMB, but the landscape has changed extensively since then. Any thoughts?
I use Sports Interaction every now and then. Getting the money on was a pain due to VISA blocking payments to them, but otherwise it's been fun enough to screw around with. They also have a good first time deposit bonus (at least when I did it) and a good referral bonus... So if you decide to give them a swing, I'd appreciate if you let me know so I could give you my code.
Picked up a good haul of $600 with a goliath on the NFL last weekend. 7 out of 8 legs came good. Hopefully this weekend I tip well an dpick up a couple grand.
