I am a big digg user and I don't see forum topics become popular all that often. In the rare case that they do it's usually the SomethingAwful forums. Just sayin'.
One thing I've noticed and is annoying: When clicking links on this forum, the link loads in the same tab. Is there any way to make it so the links will open in a new tab, instead? I only have the issue here on TIB.
If you hold down control on your keyboard when you click on a link, it will open in a new tab no matter what the original website is set up to do. I do this pretty much all the time when opening new links. Also, do you have to have a Digg account to actually digg something?
You can also change the settings in your web browser to by default open clicked links in new tabs. Dammit, I got beaten to the punch. I would have said "Hold ctrl" or "Mouse wheel click," but nooooo you guys had to post first. I hope you're proud of yourselves, stealing an old man's thunder. THOR NEED HIS THUNDER! ...AND HIS BINKIE!
Actually the code needs to be changed from "false" to "true" in the "new browser config" line that defaults' browsers to open a new window/tab. How the users' browser interprets that command is up to them.
Personally I'm rather curious what the mathematical algorithm is behind the rep point system. What factors determine individual posters' rep power? Is there any way someone could spit an equation at me? Or is it one of those dastardly ancient Chinese secrets?
If one is not logged in, it's impossible to view the main board. Was this intentional? This seems like a big detriment in terms of attracting new posters. They can't take a gander and lurk before signing up.
I'll go ahead and ask the 'i.t. neophyte stupid question' so that others don't have to do it for me: Is the "Reputation Power" showing on our profiles now the amount of points we add/detract when we hit the rep function? How does that number get determined?
Hopefully this won't be taken as an excessively stupid question but... Is there any way to show when someone's left a rep comment? I noticed there's no time stamp with it. I'm assuming it's up to the Mods to set this, since I couldn't find anything for it in User CP? I only ask because I'm not online here much (connection issues) so it would be nice to know when someone has left me a rep. Thanks.
I see you've also fixed the bug where you could see the rep comments left for other people by clicking in the little yellow box.
Keep an eye on the Technical FAQ, as I generally update it with the changes I do to keep everyone in the loop.
The board currently has the option of doing this (called "reputation ranks"), but we haven't done anything with it yet. Not sure if we will or not... Chater's call.
Is there any way to see what I said in my outgoing rep points? Obviously I can see what people have said to me, but I'd personally like to be able to see what I've repped in the past.
