My first concert was REM during the Green tour, I saw them at the Mann Music Center. 10,000 Maniacs opened for them. It was a really good show. To this day, I still like REM, I never liked 10,000 Maniacs, but I do like Natalie Merchant's solo stuff.

    Holy fuck, I'm old.

First concert was Hootie and the Blowfish in 1995. It was right when they were blowing up, but even now they (well Darius) still schedule shows in town since they formed here. Good show, still enjoy a good bit of their music to this day.

First concert was Sharon Lois and Bram when I was 7. First "not a kid's band" concert was Peter Paul and Mary when I was 12. My parents are hippies.

My first "not with my parents" concert was 'N Sync when I was 17. It was a glorious moment.

First live concert, with my family, was Donny & Marie Osmond, June 1977. I was 8. How's that for old? A few years later I saw Mac Davis, also with my family. First concert I bought tickets myself and went with friends was John Cougar Mellencamp, March 1986 and Rush right after that, April 1986.

Well, I don't listen to Donny & Marie anymore, and I'm pretty sure I didn't have any say in going to that first show, but I have seen Rush at least twice on every tour since that first time, as recently as 2013.

First show I saw was the Doobie Brothers when I was 10 or 11, but it doesn't really count because I was with my parents and they were just playing at a festival we randomly went to. That being said, they were still great.

First show I actually paid for and went to with friends was Van Halen when they toured again with David Lee Roth a few years ago. It was awesome. We had shitty tickets at the top of the arena and Damian Marley opened, so it was like we were looking through clouds when Van Halen started.

My first concert was Great White and Judas Priest in 1983 at age 16. It was the Defenders of the Faith tour, and the beginning for me of a long string of heavy metal concerts - Dio, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Motley Crue, Kiss, Ozzy, Metallica, Guns and Roses . . . . . .

My taste in music is much more eclectic these days, but I still listen to some 80s metal. More recently I've "found" some newer metal bands that I listen to like Five Finger Death Punch, Steel Panther and Trivium.

I was at the Dallas show for that tour in 1997 and the opener was Coal Chamber. Machine Head was also there, but you wouldn't be calling Robb Flynn a crackhead. I mean, you could have I guess....

First concert? In 1995 I saw The Toadies open for Bush who were (just?) getting big. Nothing terribly memorable other than the brutal realization I didn't bring near enough cash for something like this. Who gives a 14 year old $5 and tells them to be back before 11? I'm assuming my parents preferred me to be kidnapped rather than come back. The one I really remember was Rock Fest in 1997 at the newly opened Texas Motor Speedway which offered the musical stylings of No Doubt, Collective Soul, Matchbox Twenty, Bush, Jewel, the Wallflowers, and Counting Crows. I had a few shows under my size 28 belt and prepared accordingly with $50 in cash (baller), enough LSD to kill a mule and a half oz of brick weed. It wasn't until 10pm I realized I may not be getting back for my midnight curfew considering this was the largest concert on record for the time and still stands as the 10th largest concert of all time with 375,000 people. Sure, I had plenty of time to make the hour and a half drive back, but the crowds...oh lord the crowds.

So what's changed? I don't listen to metal 24 hours a day and sometimes throw in some hip hop, country and classical when I'm in the office. I also no longer do general admission for festivals. I'm too old to be in the pit and generally prefer some shade and a comfy chair with a busty waitress taking my cocktail order. This has in turn caused my ticket price to more than double, but its worth it for the most part. If its not, I have no problem with simply going home which is also new for me. I'm less than thrilled about this entire thing as I'm about three blocks away:

...but I'm going to go of course. I need to be home before 9 though...everyone has work the next day.

My first and only concert was one my sister took me to when I was about 8. It was the band called Pain her then boyfriend's brother was in and they had a gig downtown. Now that I go back to listen to some of their songs on youtube, they really weren't bad. I still know all the words, too.

I just realized that the 7 inch cowboy song might actually be about a penis.

My first concert of any kind was Stompin Tom Connors in 1998 - that same summer I also saw Weird Al - was a pretty good time.

My first 'real' show I spent my own money on was this super politically charged punk show "Rock Against Bush" or something similar because US policy is based off of small shows in Toronto.
Headliners still make me laugh for different reasons - Protest the Hero, who at the time were a hardcore punk band with one EP (sample track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLFIxgd3LWI ) rather than the technical metal band they are now, and Closet Monster - who for all their ROCK AGAINST BUSH / THE EMPIRE BOMBS IRAQ rhetoric and refusal to sell out, sold out harder than any other band I can think of by becoming Avril Lavigne's backing band

I went to my first concert when I was a junior in high school. It was N Sync, with opening acts by Pink and that guy who sang "The Thong Song".

    It was glorious.

HIS NAME IS SISQO! HOW DARE YOU FORGET! Great song.

Now I have the controversial taste of not enjoying live music. I'm a weirdo. But my first concert experience was Chicago's B96 B-Bash, which of course is a bunch of artists who don't want to be there, playing 1-2 songs then leaving. I was 16. I remember an early Rihanna showing, I think Black Eyed Peas were supposed to be there but didn't show and then maybe Eve was there.

Same, really. I prefer listening to pre-recorded music, and find usually find concerts overly loud and busy.

My first one was a White Stripes concert. It was good, but I left early.

My first was Jimmy Buffet. On 4/20. Twenty days after my 21st birthday. I remember dancing with an older chick near the railing of the second level, being told by staff that I could fall to my death if I didn't stop, thoughtful of them. I also remember puking in my beer cup while waiting in line to puke in the toilet because I'm a good drunk and do my best not to leave a mess for others to clean up. We slept in a truck in the parking lot because none of us were able to drive home.

I love live music just hate concerts. Being short means some 6'8 asshole is going to be in front of me no matter what and I never really get see the band. My back has been shitty since I was a teenager so standing for prolonged periods it starts to fucking hurt so if Im at festivals in between sets or bands Im usually crouching next to fifty peoples crotches. I usually end up way in the back sitting on the lawn.

I really really want to see Primus this weekend but my one buddy who's into them work 900 hours a week. I don't know anyone else willing to drop 40-50+ bucks on the show.
