So, I've got another 3 weeks before my next gig starts.

I'd like to use the time wisely, thus far it's been getting my house in order, building shit, and reading like the books were going to rot.

Focus: What's the best way to spend time off?

If you had a month off, how would you use it?

Go and check out all the professional/social groups that I haven't had a chance to yet. That way when the job starts I will hopefully have found an activity/outlet that is purely for myself. If nothing else, it will break up the monotony of wake up-work-home-sleep

I'd probably spend time feeding the homeless, and raising money for orphanages, maybe drilling wells for remote African villages. That sort of thing.

Either that or burn through all my savings on hookers and blow.

Travel, if you have the money.

If you're broke, binge like crazy on cheap beer and video games.

Pick a project that is normally not something you’d do, and treat it like your job during your time off. Get up early, work hard.

An outdoor project like landscaping or a deck, or an indoor job like painting, refinishing or building furniture, something like that.

It’ll give your brain a refreshing change of pace and you’ll get a rewarding completed project that you’ll enjoy.

I'd carve out a slot of time each day and work on the book I'm writing. As Nett mentioned, it would be treated as reporting to work everyday, at least 2-3 hours a day.

I'd get to repainting a couple rooms like always talk about doing.

Maybe sign up for some lessons to learn a new instrument.
