Coffee. freshly ground beans, a freshly-brewed pot, it's practically Pavlovian to me.

For some reason, I really like the smell of Comet cleanser. No idea why.

    Garlic sauteing in olive oil.

The ocean. I just love the salty air.

A new car. Unless it belongs to someone else.

When it comes to girls I find a slight scent of sweat mixed with whatever perfume they are wearing fairly entrancing. Now, before it gets creepy, I should clarify. Say you have been dancing with a girl for awhile and you catch a whiff of her hair as you're grinding. I mean that scent.

I also like vanilla and despise coconut. One of my friends has to shower with some sort of nasty coconut smelling shampoo that completely offends my nose whenever she is around. Maybe it is leave-in conditioner or something, because that shit is intense and nasty.

I really like the smell of frying garlic as well, always makes my mouth water. Reminds me of home and delicious Italian restaurants, is there anything better (besides two girls at once) ?

Finally, dryer sheets smell fucking awesome.

Gasoline, diesel.... anything flammable I like.
    Fresh Baked cinnamon rolls

As far as on women, I agree with vanilla. My ex had a vanilla coke scented lip gloss that drove me crazy. Citrus and strawberry are also good choices.

I myself wear clean smelling cologne like Perry Ellis Portfolio; no musty scents here.

Holy shit, I may have to relinquish my man card for forgetting gunpowder, specifically on the Fourth of July. After an all night session of blasting and launching I usually reek of that wonderful fragrance.

Also forgot the smell of burning leaves/fire. That rocks too.

    Fromunder cheese.

Focus: Gas, cinnamon rolls cooking, BritBrits "Curious" (fuck you I wear it and it's wonderful), fresh laundry off the line, the smell in the air just after rain and lavender.

Gator says it's Fromundar but Misanthropic says it's the way I spelled it. I'm going with the elder and leaving it alone.

Most of my favorites have already been mentioned (fresh cut grass mostly).

I also love the smell of brand new sneakers and really good weed.

    Apple Pie
    Vanilla
    Wood stoves
    Cinnamon Rolls

And here's a weird one: the smell of freshly opened Magic (yes, The Gathering) cards. I find that some new books with glossy pages have the same smell. I guess it must be a chemical they use to treat the paper.

    I'm a dude.

    I'm a guy.

Oddly enough, this is one of my favorite topics, as few things can bring me back to a time or place like a specific smell. I'm going to get kind of weird here. Ready . . .and go.

My two favorite smells are lemon and pine/balsam.

Lemon wakes me up, and smells like sunshine and warmth and brightness. It makes me feel happy, and invokes images of a blissful summer day.

Pine/balsam somehow smells comforting, and reminds me of Christmas, and of being in a stand of pine trees in the woods, the ground soft beneath me from the thick bed of needles, and the boughs of the trees above me like a canopy, blockign the sunlight.

To a slightly lesser extent I like the smell of campfires, fresh dirt, freshly cut lumber, leaves in the fall, pencil erasers and lakes. Lakes, or lake water, to be more accurate, has a sharp almost mineral sort of undertone, mixed with vegetation and fish. I can be hiking through the woods, and smell a lake over the next hill.

    End weirdness.

    I'm a guy.

On a woman: 'Light Blue' by Dolce and Gabbana. It recalls all kinds of memories, none of which I'll discuss on the Internet. I stop in place every time I pass a woman who's wearing it.

Not on a woman: New tennis balls still in the can. Yeah, that's the good stuff.

For myself, I like any of the oriental scents, with sandalwood being high on my list. The perfumes I wear run the gamut, but I mostly stick to Yves St. Laurent Cinema (not oriental, yes, I know). I go with vanilla anything if it's for some scented thing, like candles or dryer sheets.

On a man? I'm not proud to admit this, but I cannot control how my brain is wired. Drakkar Noir is my I-will-fuck-you-right-now smell on a guy. *sigh* At least I can say that it isn't Brute.

    I'm a girl.

Fresh fruity scents are my favourite (orange, strawberry, etc...). I also like the smell of freshy laundered cotton, crayons, sandalwood.

I don't care for stong artificial flower scents when shopping for air freshners. Also, 'new car smell' makes me feel nauseous.

Along the same lines as cinnamon rolls, fresh baked bread and chocolate chip cookies are two of my favorite smells. Especially if the bread has rosemary and olive oil in it, and if the chocolate chip cookies have double the recommended vanilla. Now I just have to decide which one I'll be making this evening.
