You've gotta be fucking kidding me. The battle of two sides who play defense and fall down a lot, and the winner is the team that falls down more.
It's funny how much I hate and avoid soccer until semi-final and final games are on. I can now forgive Balotelli for that hair.
So looks like Spain is going to win again. I don't think Italy can pull out an upset like this twice. What a pitiful showing for Germany. We're talking about a team that couldn't even beat England in regulation.
At least Özil got a penalty back. That last twenty minutes was some of the worst refereeing I have seen in a long time. That Italian player (was it Marchisio?) who threw that German player to the ground (maybe Reus?) and then the ref gives a free-kick to Italy - what the fucking fuck? I must've missed the rule where it said you could manhandle a guy around his waist, throw him to the floor and win a free kick? The yellow for Hummels near the end was also horseshit. Germany might have had a chance if the Italians hadn't paid that ref off. My interest in this tournament is done. I find it impossible to route for arrogant cunts (Spain) or cheating fuckers (Italy).
I hate to call refball, since it sounds like griping, and especially since I didn't watch the first half - but there was one sequence in the second half there where I saw two clear-cut fouls committed by Italian defenders in the box, and not a whistle was blown. Some beautiful tackles, too, but for the most part Germany's forwards were just getting manhandled. And that fucking heart from Neuer, man. The goalkeeper sprinting around the pitch like a madman so you can help your team attack, that diving header to get the ball forward. I'm a fan.
Not going to forget this final for a long time. Jordi Alba - what a goal. Perfect run, perfect pass, perfect finish.
Great game, the first goal was my favourite. It was also nice to see Torres get a goal and assist. I hope Italy isn’t too discouraged by this loss and continue to abandon their usual defensive style of play.
