I think about this a lot. It boggles my mind that Democrats won't just drop the gun issue, especially at the state level. Pure incompetence and insular thinking. Fucking morons.
The weirdest thing about them is they refuse to accept the fact that a lot of their fellow American democrats are proud gun owners. They are simply pissing in their own pool. The toothpaste is out of the tube. Like the drug war, it CANNOT be won because you are going against the collective will of the people.
Again, LA governor won with that exact cocktail. Saying it in the primary doesn't mean the rest of the state forgets in November... Beto just has his eye for a cabinet position and maintaining some public recognition is more important than actually winning anything....
There are plenty of pro-gun Democrats, especially in Texas. Beto just happens not to be one of them. Antiabortion is a different story, because at that point you're just solidly adopting a Republican position shared by neither your base, nor even the majority of voters.
Thing is, he can’t legally or logistically do it, so it’s pointless to even double down on. All he had to do was say something like “everyone is entitled to their own beliefs, but no I’m not coming after guns” and he would win handedly. I’ll still vote for him because fuck Abbott, but I’ll hold my nose while doing so. Like many I’m sure did when voting for Biden. I’m still holding my breath that someone might primary Abbott at the last minute, but I might run out of air
I think what _really_ happened is that Beto looked to his left and saw a bunch of gun totin' commies and leftists, it hurt his brain thinking that Evergreen college libs were left, and came to the conclusion that banning guns was the solution. Clearly forgot that lefties are very "guns good".
So evidently nothing makes a person more angry then when you do nothing and keep self control. Wow…. This guy is great. Doing literally nothing reveals so much these days.
That fact that it took him leveraging media contacts to help with opposition research on sexual assault victims for CNN to finally suspend him is absurd.
Yeah, it's not like he went and made a mock-umentary about the whole insurrection and how it was just a bunch of nice people bandying about having a winter picnic.
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news...re-biden-debate-chief-staff-mark-meadows-book Trump tested positive for COVID three days before the first Presidential debate. He lied about it and participated in an in-person debate with a 77 year old before vaccines were available. I don't think it's hyperbole to say that he hoped to kill Biden.
