Oh I agree. And I confess that, after a Summer of fighting and our American cities on fire, seeing the people take to the streets in celebration had me a little emotional right now.
Guiliani did a great job of taking credit for the crime reduction started by David Dinkins, and then turning NYC into a police state with Bratton's help. Louima and Diallo might have a thing or two to say.
I was in downtown DC and I started hearing people yell and cheer and honk car horns. It got progressively louder and louder. This place is going to go nucking futs. So, I found out Biden won by random passers by shouting about it. Not a bad day.
People can shout or stay silent, but the denouement is what’s important. Like Hillary Clinton before him, Donald Trump is done. And that’s how it should stay. Remember how THIS became the ultimate example of a candidate rubbing it in... ...well this time a headline didn’t make this mistake, the losing President said he won and he lost. He gave a victory speech in the era of YouTube and 24 hour news. W. Bush was one thing, but how kind will history be to this tool’s exit strategy?
Is the AP the only one who has called Nevada? If so, that's odd. It's been a blue state for awhile now.
Unless there’s very clear and obvious evidence of fraud to actually show the public, I think a good number (not necessarily a majority) of Trump supporters are just gonna kind of fade away and leave him twisting in the wind. There was a fair amount with the mindset of “you have to support him because if you don’t the country is going to fall under the rule of PURE SOCIALISM,” and now that everything is shaping up for a nearly evenly split government, that’s not really as big of a boogeyman.
No, not his hardcore supporters. But those “I’m willing to vote Trump because we must resist PURE SOCIALISM” aren’t gonna care about TrumpTV.
I was talking to my old lady neighbors yesterday when the results were sorta imminent to see how they were doing. They weren’t happy that Trump was losing but they really feel like some kind of socialist rule is about to just happen. Like we are one healthcare decision away from being Venezuela or something. They’ve really been convinced of this socialism boogeyman.
Biden ran a masterful campaign given the circumstances. He read his opponent perfectly and the non response and laying low were brilliant strategies. Hid his weaknesses and let Trump expose his. Youd hope for more from a candidate but a wins a win. Playing it right down the center to attract the midwest states he needed and muzzled the loons on the coast to do it. I do look forward to the daily national panic attack on social media to subside. I think Trumps loss was squarely pegged by his response to Covid (as Downndirty predicted). Bush's calm collected response to 9/11 endeared him to the public (for a while at least) and allowed him to push for two wars and even with the push back to those sailed to victory in 04. Trump argued publicly with reporters and his own team daily during a national crisis where people were looking for comfort with all the scary uncertainty of the situation. If he just took a background seat to his response team, taking the media flak for that but not dumping gas on a dumpster fire, I think he could have eked out a win. If covid never happened and the Economy was running briskly? It would have been an uphill battle for Biden to unseat an incumbent in that situation. His loss is all on him. Im actually looking froward to see how the courts handle these lawsuits. They are not going to break in Trumps favor I suspect. It'll squash and future attempts at this when the system works. As much as people chicken littled how much Trump has broken everything, system so far has worked again. I think those are the exact type that would watch and they are Trump supporters right?
