They were both right. Bernie would lose to trump, and Biden can beat him. Bernie was being honest about it, and that's why I like him as a person. Also, I think COVID-19 is changing a lot of minds about healthcare.
The spin is going to be that he didn’t say the word “cut” in either of those clips, unless I didn’t hear it correctly. He said a “spending freeze,” which can be explained as not a cut, but simply not increasing spending. I’m not saying this in support of Biden - just explaining how it will be spun.
Yeah, well, I remember this logic being applied to Hillary and you know what a fucking disaster that was... and John Kerry for much the same reasons. The democrats haven't won with a centrist since Bill Clinton(Obama governed like one, but certainly did not run like one). Biden is a much better candidate and will win some independents, but he also guarantees they will again be facing an enthusiasm gap because no one really gives a shit about Biden winning beyond beating Trump. Good Joe would curb stomp Trump in the debates, but who knows if it will be good Joe or senior citizen double plus Joe that will show up? Biden also negates the Trump is corrupt arguments to an extent. He is not Trump or Hillary bad, but he isn't clean either. Right now the betting markets have Biden as a slight underdog to Trump. That never happens with general election polls that look like this, but I think it is kind of obvious why he isn't the prohibitive favorite like the polls suggest he should be.
Or every time he calls COVID-19 the chinese virus. Dude, we get it, you're a racist piece of shit. But calling it that is doing some very bad, and potentially deadly things for Asian-Americans. Yes, it originated in China. Yes they're doing and have done some very bad things in an attempt to cover up the impact of it. But COVID-19 is the world's problem at this point, and dividing people will only make this horribly worse. I'd hope that people could see through that crap, but you know there's a certain segment of the population who is lapping it up.
The democrats just blocked the vote on a relief bill, and might do it again tomorrow. I mean, if you think it's insufficient by all means push for more relief. This doesn't have to be the last thing the government does, but seriously, what the fuck? I don't care if the bill is imperfect, or doesn't have everything you want. We don't have time for you to quibble like idiots and play political games. If you think it's missing something then fucking pass it and start working on what else you think needs to be done. We so do not have time for this kind of bullshit right now. I'm waiting on a good reason for this fuckery, so far they aren't giving one.
Because republicans are trying to push through other things with the bill. Similar to how a week ago when they tried to sneak in anti-abortion laws with a relief bill. It's politics. People are stupid. Self over country, and any opportunity to push their agenda.
99% if the time when something like that happens its because some fucktard adds some bullshit line item that is a no-go. "Here, you'll get billions in relief, but we now ban all guns as per this small line item that was tacked on". So yeah, one side gets to scream "hur dur they killed this perfectly humane bill to save all the people!" when in reality it was used as a cover try and get something totally unrelated jammed through, but there was no way it could pass with it.
Your politicians are retarded and are going to get a ton of you guys killed as they continue to play their bullshit game.
In this case it was a $450 billion fund controlled by the Treasury Department with almost no rules on how it could be spent, and with the ability to hide the identities of those receiving loans for up to six months. It was basically a direct gift to Republican donors from taxpayers, with no oversight or public scrutiny.
They cannot write an entire fucking bill every time someone needs a loan over this. Are some donors going to get bullshit benefits out of this? Of course, but you guys are adorable if you think the democrat party are righteous crusaders who couldn't stomach such a thing. You guys have a really, really hard time accepting that this team good guy doesn't actually exist.
The failure of both parties to institute a line-item veto when either has had full control should tell you everything.
The cognitive dissonance here is breathtaking. How in the world do you square being such a crusader against corruption by Democrats while at the same time giving Republicans a pass? Every time someone around here brings up Republican malfeasance, you pop up like clockwork and say, "Democrats do the same thing!" Well no shit they do, but they aren't doing it right now, are they? Why the fuck does it make sense to you to let corruption from one side occur because the other side did it too? Do we let a house burn down because houses have burned down in the past? Of course we don't. You may think this is just cynical political theater, but there is an unprecedented amount of taxpayer money at stake here. I work really fucking hard for that money, and all these greedy fucks are doing is using a fucking pandemic to enrich themselves. What they are not doing is directing businesses to produce protective gear for nurses and doctors. Instead, they are making hospitals compete against each other for what items that haven't already been purchased by hoarders. People are dying over this shit and all you have to say is "Democrats bad!"
No, I am not only against democrat corruption. Maybe the democrats could pick a time to make a stand that isn't when we need shit passed right this NYC fucking minute. You know MAYBE? Because they sure as shit don't usually care. You either get this or you don't. I find it utterly incredible that you of all people are seriously suggesting someone else is too biased to detect bullshit. It is going to blow my mind when they take the blame for this and people start pretending again that they are just held to a totally different standard. Because we know that's what is going to happen.
If that were the case, you'd be mad about Republicans wanting a half trillion slush fund with virtually no oversight and no public assurances that Trump's companies get a dime of it. Nah. I voted for my representatives to represent my interests. Why the fuck do corporations get socialism while me and my community get assfucked by these same companies anytime something awful happens to us?
