I was disgusted when I first heard about Hillary's smearing of Tulsi yesterday, and at first the left leaning MSM outlets were eating it up. Now that they've seen the huge amount of criticism toward HRC and the support of Tulsi, they're starting to change their tune. Hillary did Tulsi a huge favor here. She's finally getting the visibility she needs to gain traction in this race. Hillary's spokesman, Nick Merrill, is already backpedaling: "She doesn't say the Russians are grooming anyone. It was a question about Republicans." Oh really, fuckface? It'll be interesting to see what happens to the DNC's bullshit poll numbers over the next week or two.
I looked at it briefly. It's funny how they find it "suspicious" that she's liked by a lot of Trump supporters.
It is suspicious. If Trump supporters have one thing in common, it's their utter hatred for Democrats. If there's a reason they like Gabbard, I can guarantee it's not because she's good for Democrats.
Well she doesn't appeal to the left; she's polling at 1%. And I don't trust that she actually appeals to the right, as opposed to being pushed because of a potential to harm the Democrats. None of it feels organic or honest.
I don't get your point. I have no idea what you are trying to say, the problem with the democratic party is what? They want a leader that appeals to them? They can tell the difference between genuine support and disingenuous support? What are you trying to say?
Gabbard reminds democrats of what they USED to stand for, back when they had a spine. And they hate that.
How about a candidate that appeals to the MIDDLE, the fucking majority of the people in this country? I believe people aren't nearly as polarized right or left as many would have you believe. But no, one has to be extreme one side or the other to get any attention, so the majority never hears of them. Much as I hadn't heard of Gabbard until recently. And her response to that insane shitheel Hilary was perfect.
This should be a whole separate discussion. What does the average person want from their government? And what is the best way to figure out the average American? I feel like there is a big misrepresentation of the average person happening in every case.
Actually, for the sake of keeping politics in one place only, let's keep it here. I think first we need to recognize that maybe even though we're all "Americans", we're also very different based on regions. Someone who lives in the northeast all their life will likely have different values and concerns than someone living in, say, Texas. We have to stop pretending to all be the same, because in a lot of ways, we're not. As for me, I want to be left alone. The idea that the government is there to provide for or protect me is, for the most part, abhorrent. Sure, there's some upsides to having government agencies such as the FDA, but by and large I'd rather be allowed to succeed or fail on my own.
If you polled the American people issue by issue, and then built a candidate with that platform, you'd basically end up with GENERIC DEMOCRAT, the placeholder they use to do polling when they don't have an actual candidate running yet.
I don't buy it. There isn't even a fraction of the same love for Buttigeig, who has also made ending endless wars a big piece of his platform. They also showed no hesitation to turn on anti-war members of their own party like Amash when they criticized Trump. There's something non-organic about the support for Gabbard.
Gabbard was a rising star in the democrat party until 2016. She called out the DNC for the extremely questionable ways they ran those primaries and eventually stepped down from her position as vice chair. It was around that time she also became one of the leading voices against corruption. The establishment dems have been after her ever since. The foreign policy stuff is an issue as well, but it all started because she was calling out their malfeasance. The attempts to portray her as a leading figure for white supremacists is my personal favorite smear. It is painfully self evident why that wouldn't be the case. It speaks volumes about how fubared the democrats are that they are singling her out for scorn. In terms of character and integrity she is the gold standard in congress, and realistically we're talking about a pretty short list there.
Largely the same, with some exceptions: I'd be a libertarian, if it wasn't for some of their criminally stupid stances on things like vaccines. Well, duh people should be required to get vaccines, and I think it should be considered child abuse if you don't vaccinate your child (never mind that it makes it worse for everyone else; see: herd immunity). I want religion out of government, and yes that includes removing the "one nation under god" from our pledge and removing "in god we trust" from our currency. But the government needs to step in on blatantly quack shit like scientology. If I had to pick one side or the other on immigration, I'd say open borders, though I wish we could do a merit-based system like Canada does. GTFO of wars that don't directly involve us. We are not world police. I'd also like to see heavy, government-mandated involvement in green or otherwise alternative forms of energy.
