Haven’t been able to watch the debates. Is butt egg egg doing remotely good or is he basically out now?
He's doing well, but isn't setting the world on fire. He comes across as exceptionally composed and thoughtful, and seems to have a focus on the moment and the bigger picture that some of the others who can taste the nomination don't. I really think he's angling for a VP spot at this stage. He's polling at around 7%, which is much higher than the 0-1% crowd, but nowhere close to Biden, Warren, Sanders, and Harris.
If he got the vp nod that’d be some interesting debates, him vs pence. And by interesting I mean “shield your eyes and hide the kids.”
It really is sad the top three seem preordained. Nice to see long shots get some better exposure. Im not sure why you don't see more of them setting up their own debates or long form discussion on youtube or something.
The dude who wants the universal basic income did a few reddit AMAs but it obviously had little-to-no effect. The way everything is setup right now, the candidates are basically who the media says they are sadly.
He’s quite intelligent and seems grounded in understanding what is happening without needing to shout the usual platitudes. His UBI thing seems interesting and it’s not exactly a new concept, but I don’t see it getting too much traction.
He's the one that wants Amazon to pay everyone a thousand dollars instead of the government just not taxing the same amount?
This might be an unpopular opinion, but.... As far as I'm concerned Amazon can do whatever the fuck they want. They've improved the quality of my life in measurable ways. Their subscribe and save stuff was invaluable when our kiddos were in diapers and on formula; it's not an over-estimate to say that program alone saved us hundreds of dollars. Next day shipping when you live in the country is glorious, saves us running around town for hours trying to get odds and ends when we we can get the same stuff delivered to our gate for cheaper the next day. Then last night our dyson vacuum finally gave up the ghost after 10 years of every day service. I know spending $400+ on a vacuum seems unreasonable, but fuck do those things suck! Amazon did interest free $36/12, which is a lot easier to swallow. Yes, I know, they're assholes to their employees. Everyone knows that. If you don't like it, don't work for them.
Yeah because the concept is 20 years too early to make sense, is easily disproved with simple math in 5 minutes and if the historical treatment of entitlements is any indication, it will never be just $1000. The next cycle a candidate will run on $2000 and then suddenly its unsustainable and people will lose their shit when you try to take it away. Removing tax breaks and such are easier to digest. Just canceling someone's free income will actually tear things apart.
It’s an interesting idea, if it became the only source of welfare payments outside of Medicaid it’s a lot more palatable. Juice is right though it seems like something that would grow exponentially unwieldy and become another election season scare tactic like Medicare reform. Guy apparently is also suggesting a brick and mortar mall bailout? Wut? I get the repurposing aspect of it but propping up a antiquated business model? I at least give Tulsi credit for choosing a focus of her platform that is something vitally important but no one is talking about instead of hair brained schemes like the rest. Too bad the powers that be in the media and party decided racism and entitlements are the only topics that matter this cycle.
Well, they had ten billion in net profits in 2018 according to forbes, and Bezos himself is worth well over 100 billion. That our tax code finds reasons they aren't 'technically' making money really shows how broken it is.
On the subject of taxes, when the fuck is marijuana gonna get legalized nation-wide? I heard that brings in some of that glorious tax revenue.
So far there are 19 confirmed murdered in the El Paso Walmart killing. The fucker was fortunately captured alive. He allegedly wrote a “manifesto” on 8chan, basically saying the democrats are going to take over our country via Hispanics (from what I read of it, at least).
He also drove from Allen all the over way to El Paso for some reason. I get that the Dallas burbs are real white, but there’s gotta be some Mexicans closer by.
Hahaha. They passed rec marijuana here and told us it was going to fund the schools (Which are some of the worst in the nation.) We were going to be rolling in dope tax dollars. Sales have surpassed all forecasts and the dope business is booming. Meanwhile, our sales tax is going up. To pump some money into our impoverished schools with are going under.
