Are you talking about the subject of the article, or the godawful writing? EDIT: okay, it gets steadier after the beginning. But that first section reads like a train wreck.
It did. I struggled through the beginning and ended up getting hooked, even though it sounded like fiction to me. I guess I struggled with the idea that some conservative men could be pushed sooo close to introspection by a woman that used "republican-curious" in her dating app. I guess they are NYC conservatives, they have to be different than the Southern Virginia conservatives.
I listened to an interview with the journalist a couple months ago. It helps that she is very attractive.
Ironically that's part of the reason we're in this mess. There's a former Republican/anti-Trump Republican who regularly does focus groups, and during the election she said her biggest problem was that she couldn't get meaningful feedback on Republican policies or priorities, because focus group participants didn't believe it was real. Stuff straight out of Project 2025, or a Republican Party platform, or statements by elected Republicans. They just didn't think it was reasonable for Republicans to do what they were planning to do, so they assumed they wouldn't. And now here we are, with it all happening.
Even joking about doing shit that isn't a bad as what they suggested is enough for me to not even consider you electable. It was likely never a deal-breaker for the to begin with.
I feel insane when I point out that secession is part of the Republican Party of Texas's official platform. Not some fringe political party like the Alaska Independence Party. The fucking Republican Party.
old: Great Replacement Theory is when good white Christians get replaced by cheap Indians. new: Great Replacement Theory is when cheap Indians get replaced by good white Christians.
All that costume needs is the novel you wrote on how to cope with being a widow and single mother after you’ve murdered your husband. … because that really has actually happened.
It was like being kicked in the nuts when Scott Adams came out as a piece of shit human being. As an IT pro for decades, Dilbert was something so many of us could easily relate to. This got posted today. Fucking ironic.
Any predictions from the group on the Virginia election? Let's see if your political radar is back on or still off from 2024. Are independent voters going to side with conservatives and vote Earle-Sears, sending democrats the message they're still bitter about Biden/Harris, or that voters want the Dems to pass the CR? Do you think Jay Jones' scandal is too much for him to overcome? Spanberger still supported him through that scandal, how many independent voters do you think that swayed away from her? Spanberger still leads polls, but we all know how that has been going. Will independents join whatever Democrats actually show up to vote and rebuke conservatives and MAGA on the happenings of this presidential cycle so far?
I think Spanberger carries this easily. Earle-Sears is a very poor candidate just on the traditional non-partisan metrics, and then you add to that the fact that her anti-gay stances are particularly offensive to Northern Virginia liberals, and her identity as a black woman is particularly uninspiring to rural Virginian racists, she's going to struggle hard in an off-year election where she can't ride anyone's coattails. Youngkin also feels like a product of that brief moment where people thought "Trumpism without Trump" was going to be a thing, and now, instead of inspired, that triangulation just looks like eating all the negatives of Trumpism without any of the cult backing of Trump. No one is itching to keep the Youngkin times a'rollin'. AG is going to be a lot tighter. I wouldn't be surprised if this one goes either way, but I think Jones edges it out. I think there's some weighting in the polling of voters who want to signify their disapproval of his text message, but will ultimately come home to vote for him. Add to that the off-year effect where Democrats now have the edge in the highly engaged voters, I think he outperforms his polling by just enough to get by. That said, he won't win by much, and Spanberger is basically going to drag his ass across the finish line if he makes it.
It is never Northern Virginia Liberals that have to be convinced to vote Democrat in Virginia elections. I think as a whole, democrats often forget that and run their campaigns wrong these tight states. Democrat is not the default political affiliation for people that aren't racist, or sexist, or anything. There are so many independent and conservative voters that will vote for a black woman before they'll vote for a liberal politician with the baggage the likes of which Jay Jones hung on Spanberger late in the campaign. Youngkin comes out and says Virginia will cover SNAP benefits during the shutdown for as long as the state could. Neighboring Democrat Wes Moore doesn't, or can't, do that, only pledging 10 million. Less than 10% of the normal monthly total, if I've read correct information. I believe Virginia democrats are in a larger mess than you think they are.
Why doesn't he try the miracle cures MAGA spouts so much bullshit about, Ivermectin and methylene blue? They insist it cures stage 4 cancer!
Actually what he should do is put on a mustard plaster, boil some water and rip up some sheets. Then, you wait and see what happens. “I demand special treatment from none other than the president himself!!” LOL Go die, motherfucker. Your utterly HORRIBLE upcoming death will help prove you’re surrounded by lying frauds, and you’ll become a martyr— perhaps even to people less shitty than you are.
I think Spanberger will win. I think Sears just doesn't come across as effective or likable to anyone but hard-core MAGA. Spanberger's support for Jones is why she's not polling better. I think AG will come down to who voters are willing to hold their nose for as they vote. Jones will get votes from the "anyone not a republican crowd." I think in the end it'll come down to how well Jones convinces voters Miyares is a hardcore Trump supporting member of MAGA. That's essentially been his whole campaign since his text messages became public.
