Yup, makes perfect sense. “Please come cleanse us from the people who do all the jobs we hate doing!”
I just find it shocking that your “president” is deploying national forces within your country and there is not extreme outrage. This is LITERALLY how dictators take over countries. And combine all that with his “no elections if there’s a state of martial law” talk for him to “win” the 2028 elections that will never happen, never mind his official Trump 2028 merch for sale in the White House… and you just have to think WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU GUYS DOING?
Most are either supporting it or downplaying it. Sidenote: Libertarians are some of the dumbest people on the planet. I still hear them say that Kamala would have been worse.
Nothing gives me more pleasure than finding out somebody is a libertarian and then getting right into the discussion of age of consent/majority with them. It would be interesting to find out what percentage of them are straight-up perverts like Nathan Larson.
What can we do? I live in arguably the reddest part of New York State, or as I refer to it, The Bible Belt of the Northeast. I’m surrounded by people who are part of the majority that voted for this piece of shit. They think he’s doing an amazing job and won’t listen to any other opinion but what they hear on FOX News and in their own head. My congressman is Trump’s personal remora fish, attached firmly mouth to ass, doesn’t give a fuck what his constituents think. He doesn’t even have the balls to meet with them in person. Not once has he done an in person town hall meeting. Instead it’s all by phone and people are pre-screened to ensure it’s a MAGA mutual admiration session. The best I can do is email him to tell him what a cunt he is. Which we can check off the to-do list, by the way. The point is, I have no real representation. We’ve got three more years of this bullshit. Three more years of what a majority of my fellow American’s voted for. This is what they wanted, apparently. Even if Trump has a massive stroke tomorrow, the best we can hope for is that the Democrats can find a remotely decent candidate. One capable of whipping Vance’s ass so badly he retreats to the holler to write another memoir about missing Mamaw’s ‘coon cum ice cream. And hopefully by then the people who support this shit feel some of the sting they inflicted on all of us and come to their senses. ( Which I doubt. ) I’m not entirely sure what I can do. I can’t live in a constant state of outrage and angst. I figure at this point the best I can do is try to be ready for whatever hardship is coming, economic or otherwise.
Deep down we all know what the answer is. It's what the answer, historically, always is. Violence. Lots and Lots of violence. And a lot of us are still processing what to do and how to do it. Especially since we are seeing all of the institutionalized and self appointed safeguards doing nothing or shitting the bed. Military - Sworn to uphold the Constitution (not the President) and protect us from enemies foreign and domestic......actively enabling Trump Law Enforcement - Not even remotely on our side. Small Goverment Republicans - Actively cheering on states' right getting trampled 2A Folks - Suspiciously silent So that leaves the average person to do........what? The next election to even try to curtail any of this is more than a year away. A lot of podcasts I've been listening are pretty much on the same page that it's not going to be just the next round of elections or even the round after that that will fix this. It will probably have to be decades of consistently voting democrat to put things back. How does a person rationally process that their country is going in the shitter and there's not really much to do about it?
This is how militant groups and home-grown terrorists cells spawn. So I hope all those cops who are now happily bending over for ICE like being pipe-bombed.
I'm pretty much in the same spot though to my knowledge It's not as red here(Bergen County NJ), but there's a guy with a fucking Trump flag near my house and some neighbors are also pro Trump based on the logos on their cars and other convos.
I guess I feel like it’s just beyond ironic to see what’s happening when you guys scream at the top of your lungs how you are the epitome of freedom and democracy. All while leaning heavily on your right to bear arms. Right now the world sees you as a country that it too stupid to know it’s stupid. I get that not the whole country is retarded, but it’s enough that it’s fucking up the rest of the world and your future in it. I just expect more of a push back to what’s going on right now.
When he won in 2016 there was massive pushback, four years of sustained effort, after which we impeached him twice, voted him out of office, and then delivered the best post-COVID economic recovery in the world. ...at which point a plurality of voters pissed their pants over the economy and put him back into office. It's not about a lack of will, it's about a lack of knowing what the fuck to do that will stick.
Yeah, I get that... but for some reason I expect the professional politicians to kind of be better at that than they seem to be. Right now the biggest push back I can see is Newsom mocking TACO on X. That doesn't seem like enough.
Well there’s the first problem. The thing is, the ones screaming the loudest are the most extreme leaning in either direction, left or right. At least that’s how I see it. As for the right, they wear flags on the lapel, hats, t-shirts, and all that but it’s all performative patriotism. And they’re the biggest hypocrites; they’re staunch supporters of one’s rights, so long as it aligns with their own view. If not, then fuck your feeling, views, and existence. As for our 2A rights, I firmly believe in them but I’m not over here jerking off at the prospect of some armed revolt.
Which, initially, was fucking stupid. They protested why, because he’s a shitty excuse for a human and won? It was like a bunch of children holding their breath because their side lost. Perhaps they should have found a better candidate instead of going with the notion of “whose turn is it now?” And they’re obviously didn’t learn their lesson in ‘24. Hopefully they’ll get their shit together next time and find a candidate that can communicate and connect with the American people. Stop focusing on “firsts” and find “the best.”
There's also the the lack of self reflection by the opposition political parties who can't see that for the other side to win they have to lose. And if you've lost then enough people aren't buying what you are offering so you need to change. Our current opposition parties in Australia (both state and federal) can't get the message that flogging a dead horse doesn't make it resurrect from the dead. It's still a dead horse. The idiocy needs to be exposed and commented on. Ginger nuts is in the process of sprouting 'fake news' and either diverting attention or blatantly covering up his lunacy. This is how a dictatorship operates. It's like the entire political incumbents in the US have left the building and have their heads up their ass
They need to get this shit through their fuckin' heads, but I don't think they will. They're talking about a Newsom/ AOC 2028 ticket, and if that's the case, they really must like the idea of eight years of President Vance. These days, I'm honestly starting to think that the Democrats are a controlled opposition party, in the pocket of the wealthy. We already know that the Republicans are the party of the wealthy and the Christian Nationalists, but the high-level Democrats (Pelosi, Schumer, etc.) just bend over and do what their wealthy "donors" want, too. Lastly, to answer @Nettdata's question about "Why are you guys letting this happen?!": I live in the Mexican part of South Texas, and there are a bunch of Trumpers down here with Spanish last names, who just might see their parents or grandparents deported in the next couple of years. I "VOTED HARDER," I convinced people I know to "VOTE HARDER." It didn't have the desired effect. Have you been paying attention to Texas politics lately? The Texas Legislature just approved a district map that looks like a goddamed Jackson Pollock painting. They sliced and diced one of the major cities in my area to try and maximize votes in their favor. Even the local Conservative radio hosts think this is absurd. I don't feel very confident that there is a way we can vote our way out of this. Also, I am very suspicious about the voting machines now. I knew that was a bad idea when they introduced computers, and I feel doubly suspicious after Elon* and his dipshits copied all of the US Government's data and sent it to Russia. *I warned you people about that guy. I really did.
Who is "they"? The election is still more than three and a half years away; the jockeying has barely started. Chatter at this stage reflects nothing more than name recognition. And no one of consequence is chattering about a ticket. To put it in perspective, at this point in the 2008 cycle, Barack Obama had just been elected... to the Senate.
