Man, the feds sure are rough on that protester... oh wait, that's the sitting US Senator from California.
Okay guys, I know that video looks really bad, BUT: -Why was he approaching her during the middle of her speech? Isn't there typically a Q&A session afterwards? -He didn't seem to have any sort of badge/ ID to show that he was a senator; I could understand that her goons might not recognize him. I'll agree that the force was excessive, but I can't say that there wasn't some reason for it.
Two Trump appointees on the 9th Circuit stayed the TRO from the lower court and promptly went on a four day weekend.
But of course they did. Edit: All three judges agreed it was illegal, but hey, go ahead until Tuesday. We'll rule on it then.
If he wasn't a ranking member on the subcommittee on immigration, citizenship and border security, as well as a member of the judiciary committee, I'd maybe believe they didn't know who he was, but Noem FOR SURE knows exactly who he is. This was nothing more than trying to assert authority over a senator through force.
And you KNOW they had discussions/comms out of the public eye before this, so it wasn't like it was a huge surprise he was even there.
There's a reason Trump&Co. are doing all of these stunts against the state of California first. They're the biggest guy in the prison yard. If you can take them out, nobody else is going to want to try and stand up to the bullies.
I wouldn’t even say it was excessive. Guy was loud and belligerently forcing himself forward. A situation where yelling and belligerence isn’t expected yeah security is going to force you out even if you’re a senator. This wasn’t the House of Lords. He acted like a jackass and got tossed. Likely did so on purpose to provoke the response and claim it was Nazi gestapo literally hitler.
I tend to agree. I'm no fan of the dog killer by any stretch, but as a Congressman he of all people should know how to conduct himself professionally. Seems to be a lot of these folks pulling stunts like this lately and then claiming they were unfairly treated.
He had just listened to a Cabinet Secretary, who has been running a completely rogue department that has federal judges appointed by Presidents from Reagan to Biden saying "what in the fuck are you doing, this is wildly illegal," declare that she was in his home state in order to overthrow the government of California. Frankly I'm willing to cut him a little slack. And by slack I mean I wouldn't have cared if he rushed the podium and choked her until it looked like she was suffering catastrophic decompression on Mars.
I was hoping he was a suicide bomber. People keep defending the security as if the bitch he was yelling at doesn’t deserve to be buried alive on an ant mound. What the fuck, not everyone is after her purse you screw-ups. These pieces of shit are arresting people who are showing up for their asylum hearings. The people doing everything legally and everything right are being rounded up like cattle and tossed in jail anyways because the Trump administration isn’t following the law— it’s racist. It’s perfectly fine at this point to call these people Nazis, and it’s perfectly fine if they get harassed and doxxed. Because they are fucking evil.
I'm not going to go as far as to call anyone who has any problem with what Padilla did a bootlicker, but, holy fuck. If the secretary of homeland security was giving a speech in my state, in conjuction with the president illegally sending in the military, about how she was there to liberate my state from their leaders in government and I just stood there as a senator and put my hand up, waiting patiently to be called on?!? Bro....come on. This is the very definition of trying to start a coup and you're worried about optics and professionalism? She's lucky he was as restrained as he was, because if I was in that position, she would have been dragged out by the state police, beaten like Rodney king, and thrown into gen pop of the worst prison I could find.
Nothing will ever explain what it's like to have Gavin Newsom as your governor better than this tweet: Spoiler
I have never voted for Gavin Newsome, not when he was running for Mayor of San Francisco and I lived there, nor any time he has run for Governor. But, that does not mean there I have never agreed with him. In this instance, I am in agreement with him and for the most part I like that he is trying to stand up to the Fascist government, that I think is leading the United States at this time.
Never been a fan of him. I know politicians pander to who they think will give him votes but he's come out with some much lately that is in direct contrast to the policies he put in place. That said, I have respect for his abilities. Dude is slick and good in front of a camera.
I think he's negotiating with the rest of the world as far as what...5th? 7th? largest economies? and someone who can ensure their investments remain safe? Like....I'm sure the world cup is talking to him EVERY DAY. He has to be seen as reasonable, and also not blind to the concern that protests imply, especially to sensitive industries like tourism.
