1) trump voters aren't the smartest people 2) everyone reacts differently in traumatic/unexpected situations like that. During the LV shooting, a lot of bystanders and even victims reported that they thought it was fireworks. No one thinks it's a shooting you see that first body. As I just told my wife, this is gonna inspire a TON of copycat shit. People are gonna see this, with all the security (theater, sometimes), all the guns and military and protection and someone is still taking pop shots. And they're gonna see that it is possible. And they're gonna try it themselves. Maybe on him, maybe on someone else. If I was putin, I'd just go into hiding.
Then that also makes me wonder if the most prepared people in these situations would be Facebook group women. They’ve been hearing “gunshots” all last weekend.
I despise Trump with every fiber of my being, but no good can come of this. If he were to be elected and indeed become a dictator? Open season.
90% of people probably already had their phones out filming already. I don’t think I’d manage in these situations. My legs go noodle in super stressful situations. I’d be worse than useless.
There is one guy, who I thought was trying to grab a gun in his pocket, but it was his phone. A good five or six second fight with his pocket. I maybe wouldn’t run, but I’d be on the ground and under the seat as much as possible.
I am absolutely impressed by the SS team. Some straight up pro responses. Like the candidate, not like the candidate....violence instead of diplomacy is deplorable. Full stop. Stay civilized, my friends.
The problem is that we crossed that Rubicon a while back. Trump has long advocated for violence, and has frequently gotten it (bombs mailed to Clinton, Obama, Biden, etc; the El Paso mass shooting; that whole violent coup attempt thing). Other Republicans are doing shit like Texas Governor's pardon of a murder he was a fan of, the North Carolina Lieutenant Governor's call for summary execution of folks who "need killing."
much better here no dangerous photo ops where he makes himself a target again. No allowing him to stay hyper visible and "on the X" so to speak. Just straight out of the way while they handled the situation.
It would be obtuse to say that Trump had refrained from saying incidiary and outrageous things, and he is not someone with whom I would socialize. However, I cannot advocate shooting people with whom I disagree. I was pleased by President Biden's statement on the shooting. It showed grace and civility.
He was going to do voice-to-text for the statement but for some reason it kept calling trump "Putin."
Almost like he's the guy who should be elected President over the guy who embraces political violence.
I put it in the same category as invading another country to stop a terrorist leader or dictator, and now it's just a matter of discussing the timing. Before, during or after the reign of terror. There's been a sample of what's to come and a shopping list of intended activities.
