    Out of boredom, I went on tuckermax.com to see if there's any new posts about when his next book is being released, etc and he hasn't posted anything since December 2010. So is his own site now defunct as well? I didn't read AFF, but I'm guessing it wasn't nearly as popular, and maybe that's for him?

    Just came in from the BBQ where I enjoyed some (or more) beverages while grilling up some fine-ass beef shank I've had marinading for a couple of days (which was out of this world, by the way). It really is remarkable what a bit of time and a good marinade can do for a god-awful piece of beef.

    Hilarity ensued when I was in the lawn chair, in front of the garage, with the BBQ, enjoying said beverages, when a bear comes sauntering around the corner about 15' away.

    "Huh" I said.

    He froze. His eyes got really, REALLY wide.

    He then ran the fuck away like the Boogy Man was chasing him. He would have been screaming, if he could, I'm sure.

    Bit of a shock, to say the least, but fucking hilarious.

    But let's just say I'm somewhat justified for BBQ'ing wearing a holster.

    It seems that I've underestimated just HOW much you're living off of the land. It's like you simply looked for the biggest bear den in all of British Colombia and said, "Yep, this looks like a perfect spot to build my cabin!"

    So this new HBO documentary Hot Coffee is pretty powerful.

    A totally one-sided look at tort reform, but when that side comes armed with pictures of third-degree burns on an old lady's vageeen it's hard to disagree.

    Never, ever, EVER buy anything that has "Beats By Dre" on it. They've become a running joke with me and my sound engineer friends. The sound quality is absolutely atrocious, and the fact that people spend ridiculous amounts of money for what amounts to iPod headphones with the bass turned up is a little bit is terrifying. Power of marketing indeed.

    For sound quality in your price range, Sony's MDR7506'sare great. But, they have a coiled cord and don't make straight cords. So unless you don't mind/want to solder a straight cord on, you'll be fine with either of the two you posted. The Sony one's are a bit..weird shaped though, and might look silly.

    If you at all enjoy listening to the bass in music, those little iHome speakers are going to be a waste of money.

    I'm currently in Newfoundland, where I will remain until Saturday, at which point I'll head back to the states. Sounds like a perfect opportunity to compare and contrast Canada Day vs. 4th of July. I'll post results of this airtight scientific experiment at the end of the weekend.

    Also, while we're on the subject, can the audio guys here enlighten me on what they consider to be the best "bang for your buck" in ear headphones? I love good audio quality, but can't stand headphones that cover up half my face and can't be wrapped around my mp3 player.

    Hmm, in some ways that is cool (you have a legitimate reason to wear a gun around all the time), but in some ways it isn't (you have a legitimate reason to carry a gun around all the time).
    From what I understand from your posts, bears are a pest in your area. What is the penalty for killing one? Is there a penalty? Can you hide the body of the dead bear and just explain to any investigators that you were just firing some shots out into the lake?
    Because that's what I'd do. Skin it, tan the hide and smoke the meat. I've seen bear-meat recipes before, and I think it's pretty much like cooking any kind of meat: make sure it isn't from a diseased animal, handle it in a sanitary manner, and cook it to your own specifications...

    Anyway, here is an awesome song to listen to while you read my post:

    Probably far too serious of a question for the WDT, but fuck it, I'm drunk.

    What is the attraction for people to have kids? It usually wrecks the woman's body, for the first few years they don't do anything but lay there and crap themselves, they are a HUGE responsibility, financial drain, become teenagers at some point etc etc

    I'm almost 34 and have never understood the attraction of bringing a little GTE into the world. I have a few nieces and a nephew and every time I hang out with my siblings and their kids I think "Jesus, brother/sister, what a pain in the ass. What were you thinking?" What am I missing?
