Really? Small world. My grandfather was a design engineer at Sikorsky for a bit before he completely changed direction and went to consult at Electric Boat in Groton.

Maybe our grandparents fucked? MAYBE WERE COUSINS?

Bring on the Guinness! Tomorrow is the Irish Fair, and they have a sheepherding demonstration! With Border Collies!

I have always had something for curly red hair; maybe I'll meet a cute fire-crotch - I do love a woman with a temper.

I lived in Groton till I was 10. Fantastic little town. I miss the Nautilus museum, and Fort Griswold. (Countdown to this becoming the Connecticut thread in 3, 2, 1...)

My friend's grandmother drinks a 60 of Canadian Club and milk a week and she's over 90. Seems to be working for her. Plus, milk is the bomb.

I have had this entire week off from work, so the only thing I can really think about is getting back. I have no plans for this weekend, except maybe to go see "The Help" because I read the book and I want to compare.

My grandfather has been using pairs of border collies on the family dairy farm in Illinois from the start. He's taught them some ridiculous tricks. Best I've seen was a dog (name was Skipper) being commanded "Gate!", and he'd proceed to grab a rope tied to one end of a feedlot gate, go in and get the cows, get them in the pasture, and close the gate. They are sharp!

They can kick ass with only three legs too.

Grapefruit juice is a great way to tame plastic bottle vodka.

    A cheap winner...
-Vodka, coke zero, and a couple lemon wedges.

    Pom Pom:
    1 oz pomegranate
1 oz mango juice (OJ might work)
    2 oz white rum
    1/2 oz lime
    top with club soda

I don't know how many times I have to chime in with Club Soda. Use it with gin, vodka, whiskey. Like an alcoholic soda. No sugar, no additives, just fizzy water. For instance a Gin Rickey: gin, club, half ounce of lime. You can muddle cucumber at the bottom then add the gin and club, too. Grapefruit is also good with any clear liquor. It's so acidic you can do 1/1.

Then there is the Hemingway Daiquiri:
    3 oz white rum
    1 oz lime
    1 oz Grapefruit
    1/4 oz maraschino liqueur
Blend it all with a goblet of ice.
