Hey all. I got a lot of great info from that old thread, and thought some of you might want to get it going again.

Anyone ever here of JDloader? I use it all the time and its awesome. Integrates right into Firefox with Flashgot. Don't remember seeing anyone mention it before.

I used filelist, demonoid, and thepiratebay. I never though there'd be a time when all three would be down but here we are. Anyone have any suggestions on a decent torrent site?

DC++ is a god send if any of you are on a college campus that has a bandwidth restriction or blocks torrents, considering your school has a hub. If you have heard ramblings about DC++ but aren't quite sure what it is, I suggest asking about it. If any of you attend UConn, PM me and I'll hook you up.

If you can find an invite to passthepopcorn.org I highly recommend pursuing. Every movie I have been able to think of, they have it and usually in multiple formats.

Get on to Usenet for full speed downloads all the time. Buy some downloads from http://www.news.astraweb.com and use alt.binz (http://www.altbinz.net/) as your downloader.

    Some good binaries search engines:

    http://www.newzleech.com
    http://www.binsearch.info

    http://www.nzbmovieseeker.com
    http://www.tvnzb.com
    http://www.nzbxxx.com [For porn]

If anyone needs help or advice getting it all set up, then by all means ask.

Although it's slow sometimes, I've found that SoulSeek is a great source for basically anything you want. It's a P2P program, so basically you download the files straight from that user's computer.

I've found the most obscure underground hip hop artists here that I've found no where else. I also have found some users who keep their music folders as OCD as I keep mine, so it's nice to browse through their stuff.

    http://www.slsknet.org/

There are chat rooms for almost every genre of music that can provide very useful information.

But since it can be slow at times I normally torrent with demonoid and isohunt.com . However, I've never gotten a virus or ran into faulty files with soulseek.

I don't mean to shit on Soul Seek, but I've used it a couple of times and I never get any results. I've never really been happy with it and I just tried it again recently. I could be doing something wrong, but I doubt it. I've been using MP3 Rocket for years and it even has a built in torrent downloader. That's another program I've never heard mentioned in the old thread and I had just been re-reading it in the days before the shutdown. I never fail to find any kind of music with it, though I haven't had much luck with torrents.

I have been using www.torrentz.com for TV and movie torrents. Quick question for those who know more than me - is that site safe and are there better options out there I'm not using?

I've used torrentz.com for a while now and haven't had any problems. It's the other sites that it links to that can cause problems. Torrentz will put a green check next to the torrents that it has verified, so those are usually good. I find it best to use mininova or monova if those options are available. They allow you to see comments made by other users. Check those if available and see what people are saying. If there's a bunch of posts about it being a virus don't download the torrent blah blah blah, it's self explanatory. If not then the piratebay usually works and occasionally has comments. Always use at your own risk though.

For torrents I see no reason why http://btjunkie.org gets ignored so often; it indexes pretty much every torrent site on the net [so if its on isohunt, demonoid, mininova etc, it finds its way to btjunkie anyway.] I use it almost exclusively for non-porn

    for porn i use http://cheggit.net
for music i cant find elsewhere i use http://waffles.fm

When posting links, add the entire link so it's clickable.

For those who want easy Usenet access and auto-unrar facilities (means the movie/app can be downloaded with one click):

    http://easynews.com/

Secret squirrels URL to download in:
    http://members.easynews.com/global4/search.html

It costs $15 a month but is well worth it. I have been using it for well over a year and had no problems with credit card security or anything like that. They're legit (so far).

Some sites that announce scene releases:

    http://www.rlslog.net/
    http://www.zerosec.ws/

I use a download manager called IDM - it allows up to 16 simultaneous FTP connections. In English, it means the file is downloaded a lot quicker.

    http://www.internetdownloadmanager.com/

It's not free software, so you can use easynews to download the latest cracked version or grab it from a public p2p site.

Basically, use the announce websites to see when new stuff comes out and copy/paste the filename into easynews. Can download movies/games/apps really really fast. No need for dodgy public trackers and peerguardian software.

For example, when Californation came out, the file name is: californication.304.hdtv.xvid-sys. Copy and paste this into easynews and hit search, find the movie and download it.

Edit: Or you could just use this. Much easier.
