No this is referring to the growing right to repair movement that believe people should be allowed to repair their own devices or at the very least take them to whomever they choose to repair it and not be forced to only have service done by apple (or other OEMs)

I think it's more about her being able to take it to someone other than Apple, of her choosing, not that she herself can do it. I think it's a bit of a huge stretch to say "because I couldn't take it to <not Apple> my pics got leaked".

Farm equipment is even worse... Deere, etc, are fighting right-to-repair tooth and nail.

Not really, broken buttons, broken usb/lightning/headphone/etc ports, broken screens are all easily repairable if you have access to the right tools to disassemble the device.

I will say though, Right To Repair legislation in some parts of the EU is pretty impressive... it basically says you, as a manufacturer, need to provide all documentation for a customer to do repairs, must sell replacement parts to the public, and must keep those parts in stock and available for X years after the appliance/thing was sold to the consumer.

    I'm all for it.

isn’t this part of the issue with Tesla’s? Like you can only take it to them? And doesn’t that impact the resale value?

Yep. I replaced a battery in my old iPhone the same way. Really easy, all tools supplied. Pennies on the dollar.

Did you not get that awful message telling you how ingenuine your parts are and how you're a bad person for fixing things you supposedly own?
