Yes, I skipped 2 as well. Played the first one YEARS ago, and yeah, not sure of some of the lore in this one, but other than that, I've had a lot of fun with the new one.

The installer (which takes freaking ages) actually tells the story of 1 & 2. It's pretty well done.

I do not understand how some people are already at level 60 and are just grinding away at Inferno. I've had it since launh and I'm only level 15 in Act 2.

Here are some protips to help you with that:

-quit your job or don't have a job in the first place
    -blow off your classes
-sleep is for the weak; caffiene is your friend
    -got a girlfriend? Ignore her
-eat your meals at your computer. Frito-Lay's wide selection of snack products are your best friends

Leveling goes pretty quickly if you are in a group. Normal made feels like a tutorial mode. You can almost faceroll the entire campaign.

I'm actually just past the Skele king in inferno. (Hit 60 last night) If you have trouble with Hell, just wait until you get a molten, mortar, tele, firechains mob....Or a Vortex, mortar, illusionist, extra fast. Anything with four (which is everything) fucking sucks. It is still fairly fun though, just incredibly challenging. I played through the first three difficulties with a WD, Monk, and myself playing as a DH. We ditched out Monk friend for inferno though, he wasn't bringing enough to the table. It really becomes a game of learning WHAT you can do to stay alive and kill things. Still having a blast with it though.

Do sets or unique items exist? I've found nothing but magic and rare. Am I missing something?

There are still ledgendary items and I believe once you get your blacksmith high enough he can actually craft you set items.

Yes, but they're rare. I got set items in the open beta weekend, but they've upped the scarcity for launch

Or you can just buy them through the auction house if you accumulate enough gold. I bought a rare wand through there just to try it out and it severely cheapens the game IMO.

I've continually been having framerate issues on my brand new computer...Less than 3 months old. Nvidia GTX 550 Ti video card.... the D3 forums are littered with posts about framerate stuttering, and no blue responses yet. I can't play in a full game or I will lag my way through it. In other news, beat act 1 inferno, but have had to just keep farming a1. Act two is absurdly more difficult.

I'm Swagger1419. Just started Hell mode.

Really disappointed with the items in this game. I've seen zero sets and two legendary (uniques) so far. In D2 I saw uniques or sets on a fairly regular basis. I've always felt one of the major appeals of Diablo was the search for items. Seeing an orange or a green drop of a mob and then id'n it...that's kind of why we all played D2 right? It seems like the thrill of hunting that item has been replaced by searching through the AH. Really disappointing.

I'd also recommend against upgrading your crafters for the same reason. You can buy basically anything you want on the AH, and it's far cheaper to buy jewels on the AH then it is to upgrade Shen and then upgrade the jewels. If you do want to upgrade your blacksmith don't salvage items for parts. It's cheaper to sell the item and then buy the mats you need on the AH. Makes crafting in this game completely useless.

This may change as the economy grows, particularly with the real money AH coming, until then the AH is the only game that matters.

Even better when the monsters that drop said "rape beams" throw up a nice neat little shield that makes them immune to all damage drawing out the fight for even longer. Loads of fun, really.

Right now, my main guy is a level 42 wizard nearing the end of Act 2 on Nightmare. I just picked up a ton of Int boosting gear and got a wand that damn near double my damage output so I am able to dish out a fuckton of damage right now.

Helpful hint - when gearing up for Nightmare and beyond, start considering gear/gems that seriously boost Vitality. Even playing as a Wizard, my health was never much of an issue. But once you hit Nightmare........Christ. Leoric straight up one hit killed in me. That's in Act 1, folks. Although, now that I picked up the Galvanizing Ward passive (doubles length of Ice Armor and regens 96 health per sec) and with my buddy who plays a Monk who uses a health regen mantra, healing is never too much of an issue.

I probably need to spend sometime on my Witch Doctor when I get the chance. He's mid 20's and finishing up Act 2. Loving the Gargantuan for that class. Having that and the Templar soak up damage while I'm chucking firebombs and acid clouds from a safe distance is oh so very lovely.

I just ran into an elite mob with the purple rape beams, vortex (which pulls you into the purple rape beams), horde (expanded health for the boss and a larger number of minions), and the kicker! New for hell, invulnerable minions! Meaning all of the larger number of minions which are constantly spawning purple beams of anal rapeage can't be hurt!
    Fuck. That. Noise.

Once you get to level 60 things change a bit. At level 60 whenever you kill an elite monster you get a buff called "Nephelem's Valor" that increases your magic & gold find. It stacks up to 5 times, lasts 30 minutes - resetting whenever you kill an elite - and persists through death. You only lose it if you go to the next act, change specs, or leave the game. Me and a buddy went through Act 3 in hell last night and with 5 stacks were getting a ton of drops - the spider bitch right before Azmodan dropped 3 rares and 6 blues for me. Definitely makes item farming more fun.

Inferno is pretty ridiculous. I can solo some of Act 1 with my wizard. The only problem happens with mortar or shielded mobs. The mortar is doable if there is room to kite them around for a while, but the shield really makes it difficult to whittle the mobs down.

I was playing around in hell with a buddy that was level 54 or so. We found a champion mob with shield and desecrate. I think it bugged out because we could only damage the mob once every 30 seconds or so. I hope they fix these sorts of bugs as well as the auction house which is really hit or miss on if it actually works correctly.
