Document any communications you've had with them, and contact HR to see if you can get any documentation like write ups, whatever related to them letting you go. Get your hands on everything you can. At least here, the employer has to document EVERYTHING, and when unemployment comes calling they want to see it. Which is how we are able to laugh off the unemployment claims when someone doesn't show up for work like 3 out of 5 days in a week and expect to get that nice check. But it feels like the burden is on the employer to prove that it's a termination for cause, and one we are expected to be able to prove with sound reasoning.
This is an employment at will state, so it's kind of a fucked up situation. Also, the state didn't shut down...even the media had to have him clarify what he said. But, I do know my job was not correctly following state guidelines in the workplace. They asked me again about 2 weeks ago if I would work from home and I reiterated that was not possible. To bring themselves into compliance....let toytoy go, claim subpar performance = profit.
If they are operating against regulations by trying to get you to work from home where patient records might not be as secure like on the office network, a sweet HIPAA violation could be in their future. A lot of times though, when a complaint gets filed shortly after a termination, they know exactly where it came from. Still, in Texas at least, any complaints get an automatic visit from the state.
Too bad you don't live in CA. I had seven write ups on an employee but the owner wouldn't let me fire her because she was hot. Eventually she got tired of me hassling her and quit. She still got unemployment.
In Aus they've come up with coolers using liquid nitrogen that can be refilled twice providing the required temp for six weeks.
Schools around here are beginning to go 100% all remote until January. I'm quite certain ours will be doing likewise, and there's a Zoom meeting tomorrow in which I expect to find I'll be furloughed. We've been off with pay since Oct. 23 so I guess I can't bitch too bad. I'll just switch over to "full time author" mode to stay sane.
My little sister is sick with Covid. She’s 24. She feels like she got hit by a truck, and is using an inhaler like mad. She had lunch with my parents the day before her positive test. And they still won’t go get tested themselves.
Trading at $38 a share, on a $215b market cap. Anyone willing to bet $40 will turn to $50 in the next six months?
Yeah but it was all part if his normally filed plan to sell. The timing of the news conference may be suspect to help maximize the value of that sell, but I wouldn’t read too much into it.
Yeah I know, he filed his 10b5-1 in August or whenever. The timing of the announcement isn't so much "suspect" as much as its absolutely timed to hit the day he sells. I'm not faulting him for it as its not illegal, but it reeks a bit of profiteering. Whatever, he's the CEO and can sell whenever he wants. It is interesting that he sold 62% of his ownership, though. That probably means Pfizer is not planning to make a profit on it, at least not as much as the margin on their other drugs, anyway.
The arrogance of these rich fucks. The CEOs of the ultra-shitty and overpriced product and delivery company Uline just got a visit from the Karma Fairy ...just imagine how many more billions of dollars they would have if they weren’t also stupid.
I’m gonna either end up medicated or an obese drink by the end of the year. In addition to everything else going on with work, my cousin’s husband, who’s in his 70’s is in the hospital, presumably with Covid. Apparently his car recently broke down and my Dad went to give him a lift. So there’s that worry. Then my Mon was still on the fence about having Thanksgiving dinner with the whole family (15 people ) and texted my wife to ask her opinion. Me: “Is she fucking high?” Wife called and advised against it. But now my wife is saying we need to wear masks when we go to visit them or someone comes here to the house. The idea of having to wear a mask in our own home... well, I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around that. I guess I’ve already been getting a little stir crazy from time to time. Now the prospect of being cooped up all this coming Winter has me even more so. And it makes me want to just beat the shit out of every person who says it’s “all a hoax.” Because it could be so much different except for those assholes.
My family's in a weird place where they're respecting the precautions but they're still double checking. "So you're probably not coming home for Thanksgiving, right?" "I haven't come home for Thanksgiving in ten years, what makes you think that the Year of the Plague is the year I break that pattern?"
Love getting texts from old friends that read ''down at [bar] partying lol''. Makes me so goddamn mad.
Just think of it as a weird autocorrect and what they really meant was.... "still pooping lol" Makes me feel so goddamn good
Just tested negative for COVID. After having a stuffy nose, sore throat and a cough all week, its a huge relief.
