Theres now 4,474 confirmed cases (at the time of this post) and over 100 dead. The mortality rate of the virus is about 3%, which seems low considering the growing hysteria around it. But what do I know? Then again, everyone suspects China is lying about the actual numbers since they downplayed the virus from the beginning. It sounds like it came from some random fish market and just spread from there. This interactive map is a good visual for it. Focus: The coronavirus which is now spreading world-wide. Alt Focus: Is China lying about the numbers? What about the conspiracy theories that it was engineering and released on purpose?
Three things I know: the Padres will never win a World Series, you can’t teach yourself to drive stick, and China fucking lies about EVERYTHING. The virus is deadly, that’s all I need to know from them. Everything else they say is noise because you can’t trust the word of a country run by oppressive, lying goons. This could be low-cost population control as far as they’re concerned.
So what does this thing actually do to people other than cause them to run a fever and cough a lot? From what I’d read it was basically the flu on steroids. I personally think it’s much ado about nothing... so far at least. The media always makes out these things to be a big scare and the next big deal and whatever. Yeah come talk to me when the government can actually convince people to take their measles vaccines first.
While I'm not worried this is a global catastrophe, I don't know why it's surprising that there's a fairly big media storm about it. It's a novel, infectious virus that spreads like the flu but with a mortality rate that's about 3x that of the flu. I mean, if the CDC came out and said, "hey, we studied this year's predicted influenza virus and we expect it to be 300% more fatal," wouldn't that be a pretty big deal? And that's assuming, of course, that China both knows what the fatality rate is (much harder in a country with a lot of super poor and rural areas) and is not lying about it.
Well China was stonewalling CDC and WHO personnel until they realized containment was getting out of their control. Well probably never know the numbers.
Well the latest room around work is the one of the ships from china one of the crew members is sick so they are not allowing it to dock.
Not to go all "Tin-Foil-Hat" on this, but the Theory that this virus didn't just "start, but "escaped" a lab has some merits. A BSD level 4 lab(only 1 in country), and the fact that this was a few weeks before Chinese NY, which also see's the largest movement of people every year, makes it a bit too convenient that this just popped up. Also real glad this market wasn't around when I lived there, cause yeah, I'd have eaten some snake. also, check out the reviews:https://www.google.com/maps/place/H...55ff7d1fe8e8fb7!8m2!3d30.616588!4d114.2622945
I wonder how true the review pictures are. Snakes on skewers, bat soup, meat prep in a filthy alley being prepared in even filthier bowl/bucket.
Trust me due, all that looks pretty par for the course. "Clean" takes on a different meaning in China. You realize that both your bathroom and kitchen have a drain in the floor, so you can basically hose the entire room down. When I was there, we used to get taken out to meals by other faculty/staff all the time, and eat a barrage of wierd stuff. It was not uncommon for our walk home after a meal to detour to the 1 McDonalds near our apartments, for everyone to destroy a toilet. You'd know basically when you got up from the table, and pray the hosts didn't wanna go get shit-faced on Baijiou with you.
So then what are you trying to say? That the Chinese released this virus on their own people? What was the end goal, if that were the case?
Not saying that in the slightest.... BUT......we did the Tuskaloosa Tests, just to see how a disease would filter. This would be just as perfect a test cell.....just saying trust me, i'd love to believe that China was just caught unaware, and their "WE have 3.5 billion" excuse get them off the hook, but the other moves, Globally they make make me think they're smarter than that.
Gauging global pandemic response, etc. Given what the Chinese do to their own Uighur population, I wouldn’t put it past them. For the record, I don’t think this is the case with the coronavirus, but it’s generally plausible.
A super anti vax girl I know posted this on facebook. She's so retarded Im not sure she posted it as a joke or not. Food prep on filthy ground is not even flinched at. The one with the fish on the ground seems about right from what I experienced over there. Theyd keep the carp alive by chopping it from the back to the front and then slap it to show you it was alive and fresh(half the reason was just to get reactions from westerners when they did it). I never saw an exotic meat market but it wouldn't surprise me, it'd be more for tourist than some native chinese thing. Looking at the pics doesn't look like any of them come from the same area. That truck full of dogs could have been taken anywhere. The baby mouse eating video looks fake.
That was my original thinking... they were fucking around with their new lab, or people working there did something stupid (not intentional), and it resulted in a bit of a public contamination/release. They have a new BSL-4 lab in Wuhan. It's the highest rating for a lab, meant for testing the world's most dangerous pathogens. https://www.nature.com/news/inside-...tudy-world-s-most-dangerous-pathogens-1.21487 And they have not been smart about things so far. Some Chinese researchers were escorted out of a facility in Winnipeg for a "policy breach": https://www.sciencemag.org/news/201...uster-chinese-researchers-canadian-laboratory "Canadian researchers are reacting with puzzlement to the news that a “policy breach” has caused the nation’s only high-containment disease laboratory to bar a prominent Chinese Canadian virologist, her biologist husband, and a number of students from the facility." There's been some speculation that the policy breach may have included how they handled and transported samples back to the home country. Who knows... but it's not like I'm just throwing out the idea that it's related as some crackpot conspiracy theory... I think it's got some serious merit. I mean, the world bought "it came from bats" for the big ebola problem a while ago, and how hard would it be to doctor up a "wild animal store" and plant it as a potential fake source? I'm thinking "not very".
https://www.taiwannews.com.tw/en/news/3871594 How likely is it that the reporting of official statistics could be this far off? Allegedly, left is actuals, right is officially reported. Red is infected, black/gray is fatalities. Yellow is suspected cases and green are "cured".
