Shit’s not fucked up enough, let’s jump into a war in the Middle East.

In case anyone was wondering, Iranian missiles are perfectly capable of reaching the US.

They won't though. They'll target US forces in the region. As always, you're safe if you're one of the morons who voted for Middle Eastern adventures, less so if you're serving and have to actually participate in them.

This would likely be the first step in a series of escalations.

There is also the potential for Pakistani involvement. They are close allies with Iran and recently suggested they’d nuke Israel.

Pakistan plays a delicate game with the US. We've supported them for years, and even just in the last week or two they were blowing smoke up Trump's ass by nominating him for the Nobel Peace Prize. I don't see them moving into overt belligerence when they've for so long considered it in their interest to do the opposite.

Like mainland US? I don't believe that. There's no way they have ICBM capability.

I don't think these strikes are that big a deal. No one in the ME actually gives a shit and both Obama and Trump spent years just randomly bombing Syrian installations, including killing a bunch of Wagner mercs in the process. Most targets were ISIS, but certainly not all.

I had read something recently that they could, but a quick google agreed with you. I guess I’m being alarmist. Doesn’t mean this can’t get ugly, but thanks for correcting me.

All good homie. ICBMs are the one thing the US has no real defense against, so I figured if they did we would have bombed them a long time ago. We have a handful of Aegis interceptors but they have a notable failure rate and an Iron Dome would be useless.

Current open source reports estimate Iranian missiles have an assessed 2,000-3,000km range. Distance between the US & Iran is ~11,000+km.

Report to Congress on Iran’s Ballistic Missile Programs

Also this Al Jazeera article is pretty decent: Israel-Iran conflict: How ballistic missiles work and where can they reach?

It’s too bad none of them will ever see time in the field. It’s almost guaranteed they’d be fragged.

Can you at least link a source that isn’t a Deadhead YouTube commentator that can’t string a single sentence together citing another YouTube commentator?

Listen, man….things are about to…*sigh*…I hope you’re paying attention.

(First they came for those who pointed at a shared video and nodded their heads, and I did not speak out because I don’t point at shared videos and nod my head)

Not sure if anyone outside Texas is watching but there was a very bad flash flood in the hill country. 67 dead so far. Still dozens missing. I feel at some point this story will make its way to the elephants thread when all the budget cuts to the NWS and FEMA are directly responsible for the lack of warning all these people got.

From what I’m seeing, the only alerts that went out were on Facebook and Twitter.

It’s top of my international news feed.

There are already fingers being pointed at lack of quality forecasts and warnings, followed by “we told you this would happen with the budget cuts that were applied”.

Classic case of “fuck around and find out”, made worse due to the pack of girls lost in the flood.

    ☑ Dead children
    ☑ Incompetent local authorities
    ☑ Blame-shifting press conferences

    It's Texas all right.

Gov. Hot Wheels requested federal assistance today.

Fema is limited, because every request for travel and every financial obligation over $100k requires Gestapo Barbies approval.

So, everything will crawl, and when it comes to things that need to move quickly like search and rescue, or aerial imaging, they just dont happen.

This is barely scratching the surface...just wait til wildfires....

I’m really surprised that there isn’t a bigger Republican response considering the summer camp is a private Christian summer camp for girls. Maybe I shouldn’t be surprised? Idk anymore.
