This makes the most sense to me. I don't see what reason he has to kill Lydia. She hasn't really done anything to him and after Sunday's episode he's probably the most wanted man in America, so the ratting him out ship has sailed.

D26 already said this, but I'm going to say it a bit meaner.

Are you fucking retarded? Or was that a troll?

Vince Gilligan has had Walt quietly take on all of the attributes of the people he's kill AND WE JUST REALIZED IT TWO MONTHS AGO.

Not to mention the fact he adds in little shit all the time like the fact Walt rolled his barrel past his original pair of pants that got left out in the dessert.

With 8 episodes left, which they didn't shoot all 16 in one go, there aren't any wasted scenes. Especially not to open up the "final season."

    Here's an interesting theory:

All of the money is traced and it's found out that Skyler was laundering it. Everything is taken from them, including Flynn's sweet ri-ri-ri-ride. The only person who will give Skyler a job is Ted. Walt finds out that Ted is back in the picture and feels that she has betrayed him. Walt goes back with the intent of taking care of Ted and/or Skyler with either the Ricin or the M60. Or both . . . just for good measure.

The guide info for the next episode says something about "events set in motion in the past come back into play" (or something close). So that's gotta be either something related to Grey Matter/Gretchen (pretty sure I read she appears in these last eight, and she hasn't so far), or Gus/the Mexican cartel.

Jesse was screaming to Todd that he's told him everything about where the confession tape is. If the Nazis go to Hank's house to retrieve it and kill Marie or Skylar or Flynn or Holly, that would certainly bring him back with an M60. But I don't see how that would happen, since I assume they'll all be under police protection (or possibly police custody for Skylar).

If I'm not mistaken, I don't think Walt said anything to incriminate the Nazis on that tape. The only one he would have maybe mentioned was Todd, but I don't think he did. He was mostly admitting that it was all him and that Jessie should stop what he was doing and calm down. I don't think that tape will cause them any worry. If they were going to worry about something, I would think it would be Walt talking about them killing Hank.

I meant Jesse's tape, the one he made with Hank and Gomie, where he presumably mentioned something about Todd's uncle's connections for the ten jail hits (don't think Jesse even knows about Walt's tape, does he?). They'd probably want that back but, like I said, it's a safe bet Marie, Sky and the kids will be under police protection from here on out. So that's likely not the cause for Walt's high caliber return.

Shit, I was so engrossed in in the last episode and it's implications I totally forgot about Jessie's tape. I can't even begin to imagine where this is going now.

Maybe Walt Jr. finds Jesse's tape and puts it on the Internet and that's how he gets famous (like with the cancer site he had in season 1 or 2.)

Didn't that site only become popular because Walt was using it to launder his money?

I'm super late to the party and only started watching Breaking Bad over labor day weekend. This was the first episode I've been able to watch in real time since catching up on all five seasons. One thing that's been bothering me is how they've never explained what Don Eladio meant in the flashback when he killed Gus' partner and told him the only reason he spared him was because he knew who Gus is. Especially with Hank's claims that he couldn't find any record of Gus in Chile, this seems like a pretty big unresolved plotline.

Protection? No. Surveillance? Sort of, I guess, they didn't do a very good job. But yeah I never saw him coming back with the M60 for her. God damn the kid playing Todd has nailed creepy to a T. I loved how he picked something off of Lydia's back. But man did I feel terrible for Jessie when he iced his latin girlfriend.

It's great that they aren't, or haven't yet, really try to redeem Walt. His whole trip back is now predicated on his ego and his legacy as far as Grey Matter is concerned. Also, seems we know what Max Cherry has been keeping himself busy with...

OK I get it now. This show hates us. It truly hates us, in the most spiteful way any show has dared to do it.

After the phone call to his son, even Walt's original motivation of providing for his family is evaporating. The final shot of the episode seems important though, with the camera lingering on the napkin folded like a paper crane.

Considering the symbolism there, what is Walt's one (remaining) wish?

I can't be the only one that thought Saul's 'disappear guy' was R. Lee Ermey when he first walked in.

I thought the same exact thing. But I'm glad it wasn't. As cool as Ermey is , I don't think he has the acting chops to do anything other than play a drill seargent.

I thought he was great as the police chief in Se7en. It would have taken you out of the show though with as well known a star he is for a minor second to last episode role. But I thought Max Cherry immediately when I saw him. I just wonder if Walt will end up incidentally saving Jessie and how their confrontation will play out. My feelings are Jessie will end up killing Walt.

edit: I'd also like to note that I have been loving the score in this show during tense scenes immensely. The crew should be up for many awards for the ability to layer tension on scenes with the score. I couldn't feel more tense during the scenes last evening if they tried. The stand outs for me were the Ayrans confronting Skylar in the baby's room, them killing Andrea, and Jessie's escape from his dungeon.

I agree, having Ermey would have ruined it. And yeah, Walt will likely end up saving him and then I think it will be more poetic that Jesse simply wiping him out. Maybe Walt will be so sick at that point that Jesse will kill him in a coup-de-grace. Im not so convinced anymore that Skyler and Walt Jr. are going to die.

I hope Jesse does kill Walt. He has skull-fucked his sanity to a pulp.

Was VERY pleased to see Max Forster playing Saul's get a new life guy. Very good casting. He's one of my favorites and one of the reasons I love Jackie Brown as much as I do. Is anyone else glad Saul got away? I definitely think the ricin is for Lydia or possibly Gretchen. If Walt knew what Lydia did to Skylar he would kill her himself. I have a sneaking suspicion he's going to do something to fuck with Gretchen and the company for completely denying his roll in starting it. It's always bothered him to begin with.

I have not been able to get that scene with Jessie out of my head since I saw it. Todd is the scariest guy on the show at this point. It would be poetic justice if Jessie gets the last word, but I think everyone is going to die. If he comes out of it, I can't imagine how emotionally fucked he would be after that. And there is no way he wouldn't do time for his part in everything. He did kill Gale. This is going to be a very long week.
