I completely forgot its starting back up next weekend. Im skeptical how this seasons going to be since-

    they killed Jimmy off.
It was a bizarre but interesting thing to do so early on. I wonder if fans will jump ship because of it.

Personally I think it sucks that they killed him off, wondered if it was the writers who did or if the actor wanted out.

I am glad that this is starting back up along with SOA, gives me something to watch other than football.

Honestly it's a damn shame. Buscemi is interesting but rather flat and boring to be the main lead. Ill watch to see where they take it and hope it can make the transition.

It's like they were trying to out incest and kill off main character to Game of Thrones.

I think it sucks that they killed him off. But then again, he was the only purely fictional character on the show. Everyone else is either an actual gangster from back then or a combination of personalities of actual people. I think it will be good to focus more on the real gangster shit than on a fictional person.

Pretty decent premiere. I was a little surprised that Harrow took Manny out so soon and I'm digging Nucky's new piece of ass. He had a very interesting interaction with her.

I think Van Alden's new line has to be the most interesting storyline to me. Wasn't he taking bribes or working with that high pitched voice guy last season? I am curious if he'll go whole hog into the business since he doesn't seem to have any other prospects. He can't really get back in with the police or government. I also wonder how they will keep Harrow around since Jimmy's mom isn't digging his influence on her grandson.

The new tough in Nucky's life seems alright. I still couldn't care less about Mrs. Sourpussface once again.

Grandma Darmody is the craziest person on the show. She fucking creeps me out every time she's on screen, bitch can't be grandma, she has to be mommy. I can understand how she doesn't want the kid growing up and asking questions, but it is just so weird. Harrow is going to be going after every single guy that he knows was involved in Jimmy's death.

    Couple of things.

First, I think I'm going to really like Bobby Cannavale's character. He is such a raging psychopath that I think he may have some quality moments.

Second, Nucky's new chick is pretty cool. I think she's gonna be interesting. Beats the hell out of the Irish wet blanket and De La Huerta's annoying fucking character. Though Nucky is starting to annoy me.

Finally, I find it amusing, and revealing about the times, how many times murders just go unsolved because of the lack of communication/the era/etc... Like the dude bludgeoned on the road? Sucks for him, but other than a newspaper clipping that's that. Same with Manny. Likely just chalked up to him being involved in something he shouldn't.

Yeah when you think about it. No cameras. No CSI, no cellphone tracking, no videos, not DNA analysis. I think the had finger printing back then, but that's it. Finger printing helps with robberies, not sudden shotguns to the face and zero eye witnesses. Nothing to stop an unassociated murder like that.

I love Nucky on this show. He is a different character who is running shit. Its usually the big, brusque, super charismatic guy running everything. Here its a "breadstick" in a suit, but he's still making it work. Annoying might be the wrong word, more like grating is more accurate. He's ruffling more and more feathers, but somehow still getting everyone on the same page.

Didn't care for the episode, the show has always been a slow burn for me but it needs to get back the gangsters being gangsters part and less about Nuckys wet irish blanket. Seriously what does she bring to the show?

I really hope Van Alden embraces his inner gangster and starts working for the outfit, really the only story line I am interested in at this point.

I should have never watched MIB 3, now every time AR comes on the screen all I can think about is that stupid character he played.

I was going to mention this. He did seem so much weaker in the show in my eyes. I think I have to go back and watch his monologue he gave while playing pool. He didn't seem to carry the same air of invincibilty he carried the first two seasons. What's his face was sitting at the table, with AR standing a little off in the background looking small. It's just weird, but I'm sure Will Smith's money was a bit greener than HBOs.

This show, like Mad Men has been described here, has zero characters that aren't anything but completely unhappy with their lives. While Nucky's brother still has that stuck in the mud melancholy about him I think him becoming a force in Nucky's business could great. This new Gyp Rosetti character is quite a force. Every scene feel like he might explode at any second.

Its amazing actually. The best part of this season so far for me. When he was walking up to the kid pumping gas, I was ready for him to whack the kid for no discernable reason. I give Cannavale credit, I never thought much of him as an actor, but he owns the screen as Rosetti.

I'm gonna call it now, Nucky's new fling is Rothstein's side piece, or even better, he pimps her out to wealthy clients as a high priced escort. Either way, Rothstein is involved in her sexual liaisons and he was trying to give Nucky a subtle heads up.

Also pumped to see Stephen Root, guy is just an awesome character actor.

Didn't Rothstein already take credit for banging the girl out in the first episode at the Egyptian party? He mentioned owning her building to the other guys. I don't think Nucky has any illusions about how she uses her sexuality to further herself socially. Too bad he's gloomy gus about it playing with razor blades and all. I don't think they will, but it almost seems like they are trying to write out Mrs Sourpussface's character. Nucky has regulated her to contact only through intermediaries other than formal occasions and is almost flaunting his cheating on her. Shit I would, he could have been set for 10 lives with the land deal.

Re: Re: Boardwalk Empire: Season 3

Nothing would make me happier but I don't see it happening, which means I have to put up with more pointless scenes of her having coffee or bitching out doctors, or otherwise bringing nothing to the show.

Nuckys brother started slow but I can see him being a bigger part of the operation, I didn't think anyone would be there to pick him up at the prison.

AR looked much more in charge than the last episode, made a nice pool shot as well.

Rothstein is my favorite character on the show, he's way more cunning than people give him credit for. I don't think he was meek in the first episode at all, it's just his calculating nature. In seasons 1 and 2 he was pretty ruthless.

Yeah I don't know what they're talking about, never saw Mib 3.... He really is calculating. I hope his role is expanded a bit. He really hasn't had too much really heavy stuff. Hopefully this new girl line will bring him out from being just a background force.

I think the problem with Rothstein is that he is such a compelling character, and so brilliantly acted that if he gets too heavy in screen time and plot, he will overshadow Nucky, which will go against the premise of the show.

I thought this episode was pretty fucking good, best this season this short in. Nucky finally has a good line started and I really think Buscemi nailed it. Both his scenes with Gyp and Harrow were excellent. His over all anxiousness was really jarring.

I wish they'd speed up the slow burn on Van Alden. I mean fuck. Reading up on the flower shop guy from the first episode apparently was one of Capones earliest and largest rivals in Chicago. Van Alden working for him would be sweet. Plus, how did he luck into a decently attractive, doting wife, who is down to fuuuuuuck? I mean the guy is weird as hell but even toned down from his old back flaying ways.

I'd also have to reconcur that Gyp Rossetti is really a great addition to to the season. His interactions with almost any character on screen are great. I could see him up for a supporting actor emmy if it keeps up. Though he'd probably lose to some Showtime BS.

You gotta love HBOs confidence in their programming. Boardwalk renewed for Season 4:
