FYI, I'm in the process of transferring the board over to myself and hosting it on my servers in the upcoming days.

This process could result in a bit of unexpected downtime before it's all done, so if you happen to go to look for the site and it's not there, adhere to this emergency procedure:

    • Breathe.
    • Blink your eyes or they'll dry out and hurt.
    • Grab a drink or 3 from the fridge. Use two hands when carrying them, because the withdrawal will cause you to shake and potentially drop them.
    • Drink the drinks slowly but steadily until you've become comfortably numb and better able to cope with the world.
    • GO OUTSIDE YOU FUCKING NECKBEARDS.

Right now the domain transfer request has been made, and it could take 2-7 days for it to be processed.

Once that's done, I then have to set up DNS servers, etc., for the domain. It's during this time that there may be a blackout, depending on the exact process and timing of the registrar transfer.

I've got a new server ready to copy across the site, so once all the shit is in place, I'll put the site in maintenance mode, take a final backup, transfer it across, change the DNS, and then spin it up.

It's not hard, but it could take a few hours once the process starts, and I'll probably be a bit bored and drinking while it's going on. Besides, it's a long weekend this weekend.

So yeah... you've been warned, so don't panic.

Or You could do all the config pre cutover, cron an rsync job to sync the live site and the new server, and a schedule a db replication job so that the sites are live clones, and then just slap a custom default page in front of the lot of it and write protect the db for the forum account on the destination server so the site will load but nobody can do anything until you've tested the new prod environment and you're good to call it live. I bet you're just off slacking at your job or doing things with the people who matter in your real life instead, you lazy fuck.

And my neck beard matches my fedora, fuck you.

I have no idea what any of that meant other than 'will be down', but I'm vaguely aroused by your expertise.

Where do you think your money is kept? In a bank's database.

Controlling the data of the world is a powerful thing.

For instance, in the past, I've had complete administrative access to: criminal justice databases, bank databases, investment company databases, DMV databases, photo-radar databases, and LucasArts' databases. (Don't laugh, Star Wars merchandizing, worldwide, runs on huge Oracle clusters).

TiB's database? It's all part of the long term plan.

Fun fact, ever since college, almost instinctively whenever a single friend asked me what we were doing that night I would say, "Same thing we do every night, Pinky...get drunk and try to find loose women". I'd say maybe 25% of my friends at most got there reference. I never even watched the show more than a few times, but it stuck.

FOCUS: Thanks dude, who gives a shit about a few hours of inconvenience for the benefit you're bring. Appreciated. But more importantly, given the humblebragging....who killed JFK?

Just wanted to say thanks for volunteering to keep up this great site. I love y'all, even if I post relatively rarely.

FYI, the domain name transfer just went through, so I now officially control the domain name.

I'll be switching servers and "stuff" this weekend.

Ebola? You're more likely to get West Nile around here humping in public. G'damn skeeters.
