It's been awhile since we've done this - what blogs do you follow? Any cool writing out there that other people should know about? Personally, I like Jennie Ketchum (becomingjennie.wordpress.com/) and a blog called 125 (<a class="postlink" href="http://125.msn.ca/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://125.msn.ca/</a>). Both interesting women writing about their struggles to become better versions of themselves. Focus: So, what blogs do you like?
This will NOT be popular with many here, but ... <a class="postlink" href="http://heartiste.wordpress.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://heartiste.wordpress.com/</a>
I have giant love for Captain Awkward. She runs an advice column about awkward situations, and it's my favourite place on the internet and generally full of good tips on how to live. Career/Work Stuff: Ask a Manager - Hiring Manager answers work questions from readers, this has been great as a young grad Penelope Trunk - Interestingly mad lady talks about career/homeschooling/life. I don't agree with her all the time but she makes me disagree in ways that are good to think about. Sex/Kink Stuff The Pervocracy and Pretty Photos: The Rest Is Bullshit
Focus: Interestingly enough, I also follow 125...but not because I like it or think she has anything helpful to add to the weight-loss/self-improvement discourse. No, I find her hopelessly pathetic and completely full of shit. It's a hate read. Women's Fashion: -Atlantic Pacific is pretty awesome for higher-end, aspirational dressing. -Kendi Everyday has a normal budget and has helped me reconfigure my ideas about what to wear with her 30/30 challenges. Also, she looks like me. Life/Advice: -I'll second Captain Awkward. I love that lady and her little community of dedicated followers. -And The Pervocracy. Holly/Cliff is kickass. -Dan Savage is good for a laugh and/or education about pegging and other such fun things. -The Dirty Normal, which is insanely awesome. Emily Nagoski knows everything about sex......seriously. I'm underselling her because it's early and I haven't had coffee yet, but y'all should check her out. Read her archives. Ugh, I follow so many blogs. I'll be back with more links later.
The closest I follow to a blog is The Best Page in the Universe, which predates actual 'blogs' as a thing by half a decade. <a class="postlink" href="http://maddox.xmission.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://maddox.xmission.com</a> (It's weird thinking that there are people on the net who are post-Maddox. Like, that was even where I got my link to Tucker Max and landed here)
I love me some Barstool Sports, which is a collective blogging site featuring writers based out of Boston, New York, Philly, Chicago and a college branch. It's a sports blog as much as MTV is a music channel, covering current events and hot girls, both famous and otherwise. On the day to day, they are hilarious, crass, misogynistic and creative. BSS caters to the same demographic as Tucker Max, so this blog might be real popular with some folk around here. Don't expect nearly the same level of writing, though.
