Is anyone going to be watching this? I've already set the DVR, but then again I still watch the Walking Dead, so I'm a sucker.
Absolutely. I've seen nothing but great reviews about it... some even saying that it's better than Breaking Bad. That, I will have to see to believe, but I'm optimistic.
It's a prequel to one of the best shows ever made by that show's creator. Odenkirk dropping endlessly epic one-liners. The question is: Who ISN'T in?
I can't imagine anyone avoiding it. They've taken their time with it too, rather than rushing it out, which makes me more optimistic that it'll be a success.
I am all in, Tuco making an appearance was great, the actor that plays him never ages, dude's gotta be 50 by now.
That was really good, way better than it had any right to be as a spin-off. The post-Breaking Bad flash forward opening where hes managing the Cinnabon like he told Walt he'd end up doing was perfect. I really like the Albuquerque setting. Maybe its the writers and creative vision, but before Breaking Bad it was a nary explored environment thats civilized but is also very Wild West just beneath the surface. Bob Odenkirk deserves a starring role like this.
This was my thought as I was watching the end of the episode. I'm hooked. (Like I wouldn't have been otherwise, harhar.) Can't wait for tonight.
That was a great combination of kicking off an interesting new series while throwing bones to the fans of the old series. I'm hooked, let's hope this becomes its own awesome monster.
I haven't seen the ep yet, will probably do later tonight. Just read a bunch of reviews about it so the callbacks (or call forwards...) don't surprise me. As one review said "Sometimes people are just good at what they do. Vince Gilligan is just good at making TV. I can't wait to enjoy this."
The premiere is hitting 100% on RT. The general consensus is that its the best spin off since Frasier, which is quite a tip of the cap.
Last night's episode sure didn't disappoint. I think this show has the potential to go off the charts. Just within the Breaking Bad universe, imagine all the characters that they could roll through his life in one way or another. Then on top of that you have so many other directions the show can be taken. I think AMC may have just hit one out of the park and they don't even know it yet.
You know it's good when you are disappointed the episode is over and it feels like it's only been on a few minutes. What a great character.
Can anyone give me any insight into McKean's character? Does he have some form of ocd or a paranoia complex or something? Not sure if I missed something in the episode.
Based on how he described it, he has electromagnetic hypersensitivity I think. Thats why Saul couldn't bring in his phone, there's no electricity in the house, and he had to ground himself. It's basically a nonsense disease that people really believe they have, similar to hypochondria. It's not an actual illness other than a mental one.
McKean is supposed to be... his father? I also really like Rhea Seahorn, I look forward to seeing more of her.
