Is anyone else still watching? It's only three episodes in, but they are really starting to meld the Breaking Bad and Saul worlds together.
Still watching. Love it. One thing that I'm enjoying is the Mike story. I didn't watch Breaking Bad as it aired. I caught up later and burned through it and the first two seasons of BCS over the last 18 months or so, and now I'm watching BCS as it airs. If you had told me during Breaking Bad that Saul's character could be spun off into a series, I could totally see that. But, Mike's story takes up half the BCS episodes, and I never saw that coming. But, it's great. Really well done. Like last night, Jonathan Banks was in half the show and had just a few lines, but the simple panning of scenery, bare bones action shots, and letting his face tell the story is terrific. Chuck is a dick.
Thats the brilliance of Vince Gilligan's writing ability. On paper, Chuck is sympathetic. Hes an honest and professional attorney and Jimmy is kind of a scumbag, yet you root for Jimmy and not Chuck. Same thing with Walter White. Schuyler is completely sympathetic on paper, yet everyone hated her until she started working with Walt. Everyone rooted for Walt and he's a murderous sociopath.
Yeah, but for the most part he was murdering other sociopaths, drug dealers and nazis. Until Unka Hank got offed that is. Then he indirectly hurt someone he loved. Chuck is just a good guy that happens to be fueding with the protagonist. What he did to Ernesto is the worst thing he has done. My turning point with Walt occurred when they killed the kid got killed in the train episode. I still don't care for Jimmys fued with chuck. But I'm really digging Mike's story.
He murdered Gale, period. The most likeable person on the show. Let's not forget the dealy-thing where he poisoned a small child.
You are absolutely right. I mean, he ordered him straight-up to cap Gale over the phone. At that moment. A murderer like Manson, so they say.
Yeah I forgot about poisoning the kid too. The colliding planes thing was always a bit of a stretch. I loved Gus's return though. The stare down between him and Mike was perfect.
I am tuning in at home as well, so far I'm really enjoying everything I've seen. I love seeing more of Mike's story as well.
Mike's scenes are awesome. Typically very little dialog, but he is always doing something relevent....while scowling. When he was having his granddaughter help him drill holes through the house (in an earlier season), you are actively wondering what is being crafted. But yay for family time! Then, later, when the nail hose is deployed, you are all oooooooooh.
It HAS to matter that he also drives a Mitsubishi like Saul. It's an Evo 8 or 9, which basically would've been brand new in the years of BCS. Odd for a mail room guy, driving a better car than Saul's piece of junk.
Love this show. It's always the first thing I hit on the DVR. Sometimes it seems like nothing is happening yet a LOT is happening and the episode is over before you know it. The end of every episode leaves me wanting more. And I absolutely LOVE Rhea Seehorn.
When Jimmy and Kim walked out the door, I was like "Nooo! What's that about?!" knowing they got Chuck somehow, but not sure. Good stuff. +1 The casting director hit it out of the park. She's fantastic.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure you're exactly right. It's the "gotcha" part that I don't know exactly how Gilligan will do, which makes it so much fun.
I am wondering if Hank will be making an appearance, I was waiting when the scene with the DEA came on.
