I was looking through the "back when MTV made video's thread" and thought about how many great songs came from a movie. Also you will find tons of catchy tunes that start a TV show or are in the show themselves, (even teenagers know the Cheers song or even the beginning to the greatest American Hero) My favorite would have to be this one: FOCUS: Great songs from movie or television show soundtracks.
Nick had some awesome theme songs for its shows And when it comes to film, John Williams is this generations Beethoven
Roundball Rock--(aka: The old NBA on NBC theme). Make fun of John Tesh all you want, he still wrote this awesome theme: The Lonely Man from The Incredible Hulk: Top Gun Anthem. Kinda cheesy, but awesome. The Breakfast Machine from Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. This one's probably a lot of my own bias, but I think Danny Elfman is an awesome composer. (Starts at about 1:14)
Pink Panther by Henry Mancini. The band played this at the jazz club last night so it's in my head now. It's cool, sexy and makes me want a martini. Best quality I could find via YouTube:
There are a lot I could post, but I'll start off with several good, over-the-top, and hilarious songs from Cop Rock; Must Watch:
Knight Rider theme is so great it has been turned into two raps. Also, Airwolf's theme was amazing. Can't forget Magnum P.I.
Fucking Viacom won't allow the rights to the show on youtube, or something. But Reno 911 and The Clash. Word.
Fuck all of y'all, I win: Yeah, the show was stupid horseshit that had the same plot every week and set the reputation of Southerners back at least 50 years, and they wrecked untold numbers of Dodge Chargers (I personally blame this show for the current outrageous price of those cars these days), but just look at Daisy's gams; I haven't seen thighs that juicy since the last time I went to KFC. My favorite bar has a waitress like that, only about a foot shorter.
Some slightly more serious inclusions; Clockwork Orange theme Highlander theme Bloodsport theme Bloodsport #2
