The first time I heard this, I promptly torrented their discography and got the pleasure of seeing them in tiny Paramount Theater in Seattle. There was jizz running down my leg after the concert and I'm pretty sure it was mine.

I love the way this song keeps building from beginning to end. I don't know how many times I've been driving when this song came on only to look down and find out I'm going 40kph faster than when it started. It's a great lead to a great album.

Even though Portnoy left in 2010, Petrucci and Portnoy were the top guitar/drum combo in metal.

    /thread?

I mean we could keep going, but it would be meaningless, nothing beats the way this song builds into the guitar riff and the haunting vocals. It's pointless, but just to have contributed:

Of course, Organ Donor is one giant intro.

Some of my favorites have already been posted: Money for Nothing, Gimme Shelter, Eminence Front. I can't believe nobody has mentioned what has to be the greatest intro of all time though, the first song on one of the greatest albums of all time:

Ozzy gets an honorable mention too:

Although his fifth is better as a whole, the intro to the second movement of his ninth symphony is really cool:

I agree Gimme Shelter is awesome from start to finish, however...

    And there's...

And then there's the ELP version...
