I agree here, I would also go as far as to say that I thought the remake of Dawn of the Dead was not only better, but funnier than Shaun of the Dead, I really liked Hot Fuzz though.

You have got to be the first person I've ever heard say this, I thought Super Troopers was a thousand times better.

    What about Team America:World Police?

I thought it was hilarious when it first came out with the way they took the piss out of America/Holywood. Great sex scenes as well.

I have decided to rate the ones I have seen on a scale of 1-5

    1- Utter Garbage
    2- I chuckled a few times
3- Would watch it if I was bored
4- I make a point to watch it
    5- Worship it

And now on to my top ten of the last decade-
    1. Mean Girls- My friends make fun of me for liking this, and call me a pre teen girl. The jokes are just awesome.
    2. Bad Santa- I watch this around Christmas more than most of you watch Christmas Vacation
    3. Road Trip- I'm not sure why but I love this
    4. I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell- fuck you all, I watch this all the time and laugh hysterically every time
    5. Up in the Air- the main reason I rate this so high is because I used to travel like George Clooney in the movie, and it was a honest representation of the life I lived during that time
    6. Anchorman- When Jack Black punts his dog off the bridge I almost cried I laughed so hard.
    7. Jackass 3d- I saw this sober in the movie theater in 3d, and declared it to be the most fun I had while sober in months. I laughed and almost puked. Can you name the last time a film made you puke? Didnt think so.
    8. Old School- It was a dumb buddy comedy. Andy dick teaching how to give a hummer is one of the best comedic scenes form the decade
    9. Death to Smoochy- This was a parody done properly
    10. Super Bad- THis movie would be ranked a lot higher if I didnt hate the ending so much. High School boys do not cry over friendships. They acted more like girls than most of the cast of mean girls did.

Jesus, it boggles my mind that Old School gets so much love. There has not been a more contrived, overrated and generic comedy made in the last decade. Yes, it has funny parts (the dude smacking his kid over and over on the escalator in the opening scene is easily the film's funniest moment). But it's cartoonish, the characters are impossible to root for and unlike most people I saw through Farrell's shtick a long time ago, so I can't comprehend why this was such a "star making performance" for him. Don't get me started on the contrived plot. Gee, a bunch of outcasts at a college vs. an embittered school dean? Stephen Gaghan must be choking on his own cock from that.

Comedies have all but sucked in the past 10 years. I dislike most of the films on that list, but if I was to pick a winner from it it would probably be Superbad, though now that film is instantly dated because Jonah Hill and Gimp Boy haver played the exact same role in every single film they've been in since. Foul-mouthed fat kid, awkward dolt you want to feed into a wood chipper. Still, funny movie I thought.

I couldn't stand Meet the Parents. It started out promising. But why the fuck does everyone in Hollywood abide by this maxim of 'more is more'? Fucking drives me nuts. I mean Jesus, he burns her gazebo down? He unearths the septic tank in her backyard, by flushing the goddamn toilet?

Same with Borat. Maybe I have this Michael Moore syndrome going on, but whenever anyone goes out of their way to write a "documentary" that tries to make any point - comedy or not - so completely one-sided, I can't help but get annoyed. Sure, a lot of it was objectively funny, but beneath every joke is this pretentious effort to make this grand cultural statement. Get over yourself.

Mean Girls, Superbad, The Hangover, Knocked Up, Old School, 40 Year Old Virgin, Super Troopers... I'll admit, I love those movies. But I'm a pretty big supporter of Judd Apatow. Anyone watch Freaks and Geeks when it was on television? For one season? Still the best show ever. Watching those guys succeed only continues to validate my love for that show, I was that big of a fan.

Still, comedy is a pretty personal genre. The same reasons people hate some comedies is the reason I love them. Like Old School, I totally understand the hating on that movie, it still makes me laugh, for some reason. I think Tucker made the point that in any universe, any time three 30-year-old men go back to college to start a fraternity, they would be considered the sketchiest guys on earth. Or The Hangover, I openly laugh at that movie, but I get the backlash on it - can someone please write a comedy where the jokes are funny because they're true? The Tiger, Mike Tyson, a chinese gang lord locked in the trunk... OK, that's funny, but what would be really funny is something that reminds me of real life.

So I can't really say. Maybe it's just the medium. South Park usually packs more jokes in a single episode than the latest 90-minute Russel Brand vehicle. The whole thing can get really old, really fast.

By the way, I also hated Role Models. Couldn't stand that movie. But I guess it's not on the list. Oh, and also I Love You, Man. What an awful fucking idea for a comedy. I gotta question, though... how do we go from getting a movie like When Harry Met Sally, which is a comedy about men not being able to befriend women, to a movie like I Love You, Man, which is a comedy about a guy not being able to befriend other guys, in the span of what, 20 years? Doesn't that make you pause for thought?

I think I'll bite on this one. In no particular order:

    Bad Santa
    Knocked Up
    Wedding Crashers
Funny People (kiss my ass. I loved this movie, even though it was so effing long)
    The Hangover
    Borat
    Anchorman
Zack & Miri Make a Porno
Little Miss Sunshine (not as funny as the others, but if I had to pick a genre to stick it in, I'd go with comedy)
    Superbad
Death to Smoochy ("Sorry I smell like piss. You know how it is.")

Honorable late-90s mention to Dirty Work and all the nose-biting Saigon whores out there.

Somehow I've never seen Mean Girls, but after seeing all the love (and after reading Tina Fey's book, which was incredible), I'm heading out here in a few to pick it up!

edit: Forgot to ask earlier--has anybody seen Screwed? It blows my mind how a movie with Norm MacDonald, Dave Chappelle and Danny DeVito can suck so much. On paper, it should be the funniest goddamn movie ever.

Yes. It honestly might be the single worst movie I have ever seen. Or at least the single most unbearable, since it's never ham-fisted enough to cross into the so-bad-it's-good territory that The Room, Shazaam, and similar titles occupy.

How did I not notice this earlier? I'm such a sucker for list making.

    20. Dodgeball- Was slightly overshadowed by Anchorman when it came out, although I think Dodgeball was much better.

    19. Strange Wilderness- I'm pretty sure it has a 0% on Rotten Tomatoes, but it's bound to be a cult favorite. Re-dubbing nature videos is such a wonderfully untapped source of comedy. Way better than fucking Grandma's Boy.

    18. The Brothers Solomon-Another underrated one. Will Arnett essentially acts like an inbred version of GOB for 90 minutes.

    17. Walk Hard

    16. Hamlet 2
    - Not sure why I liked it so much. Probably high schoolers performing a musical about rape.

    15. Death at a Funeral- The British version obviously, although the Martin Lawrence re-make was surprisingly unshitty.

    14. Role Models- I'm not quite all aboard the Paul Rudd bandwagon, but I thought this one was 100 times better than I Love You Man. Would have been higher if the climax hadn't revolved around McLovin, but the first half of the movie was still pretty funny.

    13. Death to Smoochy-Any time Robin Williams isn't doing stand-up it's a good thing.

    12. The Hangover- Was funny the first time. Loses points for not being very re-watchable.

    11. Hot Tub Time Machine
    - Gets credit for making me laugh despite starring this kid that tries so hard to ruin every fucking movie he's in.

    10. Knocked Up

    9. Team America

    8. Reno 911!: Miami
    - Greatest movie to watch drunk?

    7. Tropic Thunder- Actually didn't like it the first time I saw it. For some reason, being on HBO constantly has made it grow on me. Deserves recognition just for the fact that Robert Downey Jr. was nominated for an Oscar for doing black-face.

    6. Hot Fuzz- I like it better then SotD. Mainly because of the awesome cast of characters that work for the police station. Also:

    5. Wet Hot American Summer

    4. Observe and Report
-Awesome dark comedy. The final scene always makes me squeal with glee.

    3. Cedar Rapids- Kind of a dramady, but John C. Reilly could make me laugh at my mother's eulogy. Actually, just substitute this for any indie-comedy that he's been in.

    2. Forgetting Sarah Marshall- I love the shit out of this movie. Beats out 500 Days of Summer for best break-up movie.

    1. Superbad- Sort of a personal pick since it mirrored my high school experience so closely. Ends on a sour note, but Bill Hader more than makes up for any directorial downfalls.

Don't want to reiterate too much, but here are my thoughts:

Did not like Meet the Parents and Zoolander. Just wasn't that funny. I just don't really like Stiller's work most of the time, especially in these films.

Easy A was funny but not worthy for this list. Napoleon Dynamite I have a love/hate relationship. Surprised American Pie isn't on this list-I would definitely pick American Pie over Road Trip.

Being a female, Mean Girls is funny and relate-able. I watched an interview with Tina Fey and when she was proposing the idea about Mean Girls she based it off the book Queen Bees and Wannabees which she didn't really read beforehand which in reality is a self-help book for moms dealing with teenage girls that get emotional bullied-aka not comedic. So it was interesting how she was able to use the information in the book to create a comedy out of it.

I agree with other members in saying that Hot Fuzz is better than Shaun of the Dead. I like both and compared to some of these other choices on this list-both could easily be on the list.

Step Brothers cracks me up and I love using the line "I remember when I had my first beer" on dumb drunk bitches or when I can outdrink/outplay a guy in drinking games. I could quote Anchorman all day and it is definitely one of my favorites. 40-year-old Virgin should only be watched in the uncut, uncensored version.

And everyone is talking about Sex Drive-which yes, I agree is a good movie and definitely can get on this list more than others. But I'm surprised no one has mentioned (or quite possibly no one has seen it): The Virginity Hit. Fucking gold. Will Ferrell was one of the producers. If you have not seen this movie yet, I highly suggest it goes on your list. I mean shit, this is how they promoted the movie: http://www.movieline.com/2010/09/do...n-actually-pass-for-controversial-in-2010.php

I'm not a fan of Ben Stiller, either. I find most of his movies predictable and insufferable. Same with Will Ferrell.

Not too many comedies over the last 10 years were very memorable to me. Hangover was funny, but by the time I saw it, no movie could have lived up to all that hype.
