I know this is early but I figured I'd get this thread up. The new season premiers on January 27th, 10 days from now. What have you guys heard about this season? I know the trailers look pretty funny and if any of the episodes are like "Skytanic" I will be incredibly happy.

I really wish H Jon Benjamin hadn't lent his voice to Bob's Burgers.

haven't seen Bob's Burgers due to all of the terrible reviews. I saw this thread though and thought I missed the premiere. Can't wait until next week.

Looks like there's a skinnier, attractive version of Pam (wearing the same clothes) debuting as a main character this season. Younger sister, surgery-enhanced version of the old Pam, or completely unrelated new agent?

From what I can tell from the previews, she's the mother of Archer's child and has the exact same voice as the prostitute from the first season.

Definitely can't wait. January 27 has been circled on my calendar for 3-4 months now, whenever they announced the specific date. Along with Breaking Bad, Archer is on my "must watch TV" list.

More than anything, I hope they keep up with Dr. Krieger's quotes, which always seem to be of impeccable timing.

"Tampons! Weeeeell, I don't know what that is..."

We're actually having a premier party with people from work. Seeing as I've only been here since August, and quickly formed my own social circle, this will be the first time I hang out with most of the coolest people at my work, outside of it.

Not to mention when she says things like that it sounds pretty fucking hot.

"M as in Mancy." Still one of the funniest parts of that show.

My Google Fu is weak in my drunken state... anyone have a link to a torrent for the new episode? None of the privates I'm on or the public ones seem to have it.

PM me if you'd be so kind.

Never mind... I thought you guys had already seen it, when it actually comes out next week. I think I'll have another beer.

The is an Archer ad on Pandora, which has an awesome exchange with Archer and his mom

    Mom: "Why are you drinking?!?!"
    Archer: "Its a party, duh"
    Mom: "Its a baby shower!"

    I can't wait...

Good article explaining some of the more esoteric references from last season:
    <a class="postlink" href="http://warmingglow.uproxx.com/2011/01/the-ten-most-obsure-archer-jokes-explained" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://warmingglow.uproxx.com/2011/01/t ... -explained</a>

Hopefully they can explain the Lars Larson reference from tonight.

Anyone else think the season opener was a bit weak?

I sure did. Relatively, speaking. As a comedy in general is was still a leg up on anything else airing on American TV. Always look forward to next episode with Dr. Krieger making a big appearance.

It wasn't as consistently amazing as some of the season 1 episodes, but it had some brilliant lines.

"The age of consent in Germany is 14."
"What is it, the Alabama of Europe?"

I like "Archer"; it's a funny show and I was looking forward to season 2, but "consistently amazing" is just ridiculous hyperbole. I think the hype on here and other places is making people remember and then expect more from this show than it ever was; a simple, straightforward animated comedy about an irresponsible manchild.

I thought the season premiere was fine; on the same level as a number of episodes in the first season.

I didn't mean amazing as in groundbreaking work, or amazing writing like Mad Men or Dexter. I meant it in the fact that I watched the first season on my computer, by myself, and I was consistently cracking up. Thats impressive. The random references and off the wall lines stayed fresh and funny.

The best Archer is about on par with a good Venture Bros. episode, which is still very entertaining. They have and can do better than the second season premiere.

Watched it again, and you guys were right; the season premiere wasn't up to the standard of the first season, although I don't consider the latter mind-shatteringly great or anything.

It was an okay episode, but the gay guy and (strangely) Pam weren't that funny for most of it. Also, considering what horrible calamities usually befall the people ISIS is sent to protect, I'm surprised they didn't go with a punchline of Archer throwing the girl off the snowmobile into the enemy, or her getting frostbitten. He just puts his hands on her breasts and Lana sees this? That's it?

Anyways, looking forward to the next one.

It's back to the old form. Awesome.

    Episode 2 is hilarious.
The doc, after the brain surgery, not saying a word, just standing there, high on acid, rubbing his nipples was fucking hilarious.
